Rude and indifferent management and 3/23/2012

Rude and indifferent management and administration. When I asked about changing the status of my membership, the young woman in membership could not answer my question....and never could. Six months later after being put off by her repeatedly, I just let it go. More recently I asked again and after two weeks, decided to go to Riverplace (a sister club) and ask. A five minute conversation and 15 minutes of paperwork and I was taken care of like a customer. More recently, I left a note for the manager about damage done to some of my athletic equipment and he has simply not responded. Other member's equipment was also damaged, they have talked to the manager, but it has been a week and he has simply chosen to not respond to the simple question of the club's responsible for the damage Rude and indifferent. more

totally satisfied with this club! 11/15/2011

I joined this club for the Zumba instructor Nicole. The time flies with her class. And you can do it an several levels of intensity-- just starting out or totally high energy to burn a lot of calories. She changes her music often, gets every muscle toned and fit and you cannot believe the hour has flown by in such a short time. Her energy, skill and smiles keep me coming back. The rest of the club is amazing as well. The walking track has a nice surface and good views. The place is spotless and unlike some other reviews I have found that the check in staff is helpful, knowledgeable and certainly not ""high turn over"" so maybe those issues got addressed from the prior reviews. I have not tried the spa or the bistro yet. The only negative is that sometimes the bistro appears to be baking cookies or pizza and the smell is everywhere-- not the ambience really for working out... this isn't every time but often enough to be questionable.. if that is my only complaint I'd say this is pretty perfect.. more

Hawthorn Farms is an awesome club 9/5/2010

I've been a member since the beginning and it has remained a great place to get a workout. Secure lockers, great weight room, variety of great classes. Jodi and Nicole are fun and don't waste time getting right down to working participants to the max. The Pointe Spa has a huge variety of services, with highly qualified therapists. Three pools, two indoor open all year. My daughter grew up there, learning to swim with her cousins. Running track, enormous basketball gym, rock climbing wall, and more. Nice restaurant, great place for hungry kids to relax an socialize. Well worth it! more

Worst management ever 7/29/2010

I agree with the reviewsthat the club is disorganized . The manager of the club is the worst. I have had several dealings with her. Her name is Michal and she is rude and doesn't seem to care about customer service and treats members and employees badly. The club itself is wonderful. They just need a new manager. Pros: Beautiful Club Cons: General Manager more

Wish it was the full package! Office staff/ management lacks 7/1/2010

Totally disorganized! Front office staff and management don't communicate to the other staff members at the club. Even their employees say so. Managment and front staff are sometimes rude, difficult, and belittling. They are only concerned on how to get another nickel from you. That being said the club facilities are very nice. Only wish it was the full package! FYI Msj2 seemed quite accurate in their opening statement . Pros: great facility! Cons: Management/ front office is totally disorganized! more

My favorite place to work out 7/7/2009

I've been a member for 4 yrs and even though there ARE kids running around, the claims by MSJ2 are not accurate. The machines are ALWAYS in excellent shape and not crammed. Obviously there are certain ?prime? times when it is harder to find an empty spot but if you wait 10-15 mins, you'll most likely get what you want. The group fitness classes are TOP notch, and the Personal Trainers are fantastic. They are not only knowledgeable, but unlike other clubs, don't try to push supplements. I was a member (for a short period) of 24hr fitness and it was HORRBLE. The people in the front desk will do ANYTHING to get you to sign up, even use your personal phone # to ask you out to dinner. I couldn't be happier with this gym. I absolutely love it, with running kids and all. (PS: I have no kids) Pros: Excellent Facility / Great Classes Cons: People @ Front Desk more

Bad experience with Spa 3/18/2009

i paid for a service, worth more than $100 plus the tips ---- the aesthetician, did not provide a robe, and had me lie down on this yellow sheet that i know has not been changed. At the end of waxing session, she put cream on top of the dirty sheet, and asked me just to whip it up with my fingers to apply to my skin. All the while while she was waxing me, I looked up the ceiling and saw cobwebs. The unsanitary appeal laying down on a sheet that the person could have easily changed before she let me in, made me feel unwelcome. I should have made a big deal, but I didn't --- I just told myself never to return! Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: sheets and linen has dirt marks, cobwebs on ceiling more

Should be Hawthorne Daycare or Playground, not ""athletic club"" 6/29/2008

If you don't mind children running around unattended, machines crammed together and in disrepair, and highschool-age staff that seems to turnover weekly, then this is the place for you. Oh, did I mention they are also the highest-priced club in town? Might be fine if you have a family, lots of disposable income, and just want to drop the kids off for an afternoon -- but it is FAR from being a serious ""athletic club."" Pros: Some good classes, family-oriented Cons: Too many unsupervised kids; expensive fees more

I love their youth classes! 4/29/2008

I was happy to see that they have free karate- this is a huge value for me and gets my kids involved in sports (and stay active during the rainy months). I do also like the other classes- and Tyler and Erin are my favorite! They have loads of fun games for the kids and my kids love going- they are great role models. I do like the spa, of course- and it is nice to be able to drop the kids off in the childcare when i have a treatment... especially if my husband is working out at the time! more

Great club for myself AND my family 5/5/2007

We have been members at HFAC for over 5 years and our kids have basically grown up there. The group classes are all free and wonderful, and the individual TV screens on the cardio equipment really helps me get through my workout. My kids started in childcare (great staff!) and now regularly attend the day camps, swim lessons, rock climbing, and now FREE Tae Kwon Do. As a mom I truely appreciate having a gym that not only is upscale, but family friendly. HFAC has probably saved my sanity. Pros: Youth Classes, Group Classes, Spa and Bistro at the club! Cons: Replaced golf simulator with a Pilates studio more

The perfect CLUB 3/4/2005

The club is a complete resort. You can do everything under one roof - work out, take a class, use the rock wall, play squash or basketball, swim in one of the 3 pools, eat in the bistro, relax in the spa, or just hang out with you family by the outdoor pool. The staff are excellent and always happy to see you, and because it's not over crowded like other clubs, they know you by name. The children have plenty of options to keep them busy and their summer camps are great value. I have enjoyed every minute of my time there. Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, Friendly staff, Very clean more

It doesn't get any better 1/28/2004

This place is amazing. It feels so luxurious just being there. It's got everything you could want to workout, and a fantastic spa right inside! My kids love it, we can play together in the pool or gym, or I drop them off and enjoy some time by myself. It's super comfortable, and everyone is really friendly. I can't recommend it highly enough. Pros: attractive, spa and childcare!, comprehesive Cons: , can't think of any more
