I am not a frequent review writer, but wanted to share my experience of problems we had with Harvey Hottel heating and air conditioning. We switched to Harvey Hottel three years ago because they are family run and received positive reviews. Since then, they have installed a new hvac unit and maintained another. \r \r the problems arose when the equipment they installed stopped working. we made an appointment and they (Maria) indicated that all parts were covered under a full five year warranty. when they came out, they replaced the broken equipment and charged us. when i brought this to the attention of the service manager (Pat), he indicated that not everything is covered under a full parts warranty, just certain things - like things that don't break. when i pressed him on this, he would not budge. i had them come back out and put in our old parts and we cancelled our contracts.\r \r slight of hand is no way to run a business. if hh tells a customer something is covered under a warranty, more

I used these guys and had a terrible experience with them. My AC broke during a terrible heat wave in July of 2003. The system was under warranty. I called and asked for quick service due to the heat. Hottel couldn't make it out until a Saturday. They diagnosed the problem, said that they would have to order the part and it would take a week to have the repair completed. And they charged me $178 for coming out on a Saturday (30 minutes), which was dictated by their inability to come to my home during the week! I was furious and cancelled the work. Found out my father had a maintenance contract with them and had him cancel it. Instead, we found a dealer (No-Frost) in Ellicott City, MD that came out immediately, found the part right away and fixed my problem same day. No-Frost even sent me a "thank you" note for allowing them to service us! Now that my unit is nearing the replacement stage, I know who to contact and it isn't Harvey Hottel. more

My husband and I have used this company on several occasions for plumbing and HVAC work. They have been prompt, courteous, fair and reasonable in their pricing. We would never hire Harvey W Hottel again, or recommend Hottel. When we were deciding which company to hire to install the forced air HVAC system in our brand new house, which was under construction, Mark Hottel, one of the owners, was attentive and enthusiastic. He assured us that we would love Hottel?s forced air system because, he said, the system would be quiet, even and comfortable. But his attentiveness and enthusiasm changed when we moved into the new house and started telling Hottel that we had problems: parts of the house were unbearably stuffy or too cold or too hot. We called Mark Hottel over and over again for months without his responding. When he finally returned our calls and inspected the house, Hottel agreed there was a problem, but refused to take responsibility. These guys do a great job and the specilaity is they know what they are doing with their prompt services.I have used their services for a while and find them quite genuine with their on call services and their filter changer and cleaning the air conditioning duct . more

I have had the pleasure of working with this company for commercial as well as residential spaces. Every employee I have dealt with has been courteous and knowledgeable. There is always a fair and "understandable" estimate as well as bill provided. Their scheduled maintenance is reliable and efficient. Trouble calls are handled very quickly.
