This San Francisco landmark restaurant has been popping corks and serving up delicious cuts of meat for 25+ years. Harris' wine list is a Tour De Force that is comprised of over 500+ selections. There are a number of great bottles priced below $100, and they have some absolutely stunning bottles at higher prices. If you have the time and money, then I recommend you stop into this restaurant once a week for a year and work your way through the wine list. As with all VinoServant reviews, you will see the price at the restaurant followed by the mark-up over retail (Roederer Estate, Brut, Anderson Valley, Sparkling Wine | $41 | 2.2x | This translates into a retail price of $18). Nice Place 4/9/2010

We had went to area to go to House of Prime Rib, which was a total waste of time, loud, dirty bathrooms, rude service, wait ridiculous. Went down to Harri's greeted pleasantly seated promptly, served professioally. Clean bathrooms, piano music, good enviroment. Pros: Professional / Piano Music / Clean Cons: Not well known more

Dined at Harri's two nights ago. Waiter thought he was God's gift to Men..Wrong ! I ordered lamb chops to be prepared with fresh garlic. Order came, no seasoning at all. The waiter could not be found..The gal who takes care of the coatroom offered to take back the food and have another order prepared. I've been to the finest restaurants. This place isn't in that league. Pros: Coat girl more attentative than the waiter Cons: Waiter too stupid to order the food correctly more

Harris' Restaurant 2/14/2009

I know no other restaurant that serves the best steak ever besides this one. They serve the thickest and juiciest steaks you have ever had. My favorite choice is their filet steak. more

Great steak dinner! 12/29/2008

We ended up here after House of Prime Rib messed up our reservation and so glad we did! We had a great meal & service! The prime rib, scallopped potatoes, & creamed spinach was so delicious. Staff was attentive and prompt. A really great meal. We sat on the lounge side (same menu) and heard a very nice jazz duo while dining. more

Forget POMPOUS Harris' Restaurant and find a steak place that cares about diners! 12/22/2008

At a time when other restaurants are lowering prices, Harris' has the hubris to be RAISING theirs!!! I guess they feel that they are so good that they can afford to do so or that people are so stupid as to not notice. Well, this diner noticed! Also, I had made the reservation two days beforehand and requested mashed potatoes, something commonly served at steak restaurants. Well, when I arrived I was told that I should have called the chef three days in advance if I wanted it. Does anybody know the chef's tel. number???????? I certainly do not! I could have made mashed potatoes in 5-10 minutes so why is it so hard for the chef to prepare? Has it become an exotic dish that one must fly in from New Zealand? Needless to say, this will be my last visit to Harris' for a LONG TIME, if I ever even choose to return. Cons: Attitude from Maitre D' more

This place is an overall great steakhouse. The food is delectible and anybody who loves steak would love to eat at this place. Great service and atmosphere and great food. more

  • Opened in 1984, Harris' Restaurant is one of the leading steakhouses. The restaurant features four dining rooms and a bar. Its main dining room features plush booths, high ceilings, brass chandeliers, skylights and a painting by local artist Barnaby Conrad. The restaurant s menu includes a variety of appetizers, side dishes, salads and desserts. It additionally offers a selection of wines, including zinfandel, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir and merlot. Harris' Restaurant has a butcher counter, which provides aged, Midwestern, corn-fed steaks in a variety of cuts. It is located in San Francisco and organizes live music programs.
