Elegant steak 8/1/2002

The main dining room is the best! Quieter than near the bar (but the bar is great for martinis before dining). Always excellent meat, cooked exactly the way you want it. Large portions. Pros: tender steak, ambiance, large portions Cons: bad parking - valet more

Not What We'd Hoped 7/30/2002

The food was OK, but for the money I've had much better. The biggest problem we had was the service. Our drinks weren't refilled, we had to ask for everything, and we even had to ask where the heck our waitress went. This place is nothing special. Pros: Steak, Seating Cons: Service, Deserts more

Diner steak served by professionals 7/24/2002

Both times the same -- Service and ambiance were great. The food -- not. The "Kobe" steak tasted like a Safeway ribeye. If I'm going to drop serious coin on a steak in S.F. it'll be at Morton's. Pros: good service Cons: meat quality more

Jazz,Gin and Good Feelings 7/24/2002

Anne Harris represented a bygone era that no others are able to resurect, she was "it." High ceilings, wall murals, private dinning rooms, Jazz in the bar, real drinks made with hard liquor, and discrete lighting. Couple this with a menu of enjoyable american food and an above average wine list--remember the 1986 Berenger Private Reserve Cabernet for $35.00, even after the Wine Spectator rated in the #1 wine in 1989--I brought a few bottles home and still may have one or two. The service has always been appropriate and professional, noise level is low. What more can we ask for in a special night out place? I celebrated my 1st wedding anniversary there and hope it is there for our 50th. I have four adorable children, but until they are teenagers, would not burden other diners with their presense and hope that other parents have the same sensibility. more

I Have a Challenge For You! 7/13/2002

Typically my wife and I joke and judge a restaurant by testing how long it takes to get a refill on your water glass. Our glasses never made it past being half empty and believe me we tried our hardest to empty that glass. This is an example of why Harris' is a terrific place to eat, since few places provide quality service and attention to the customer. My wife and I both had the Pepper Steak which was excellent. The restaurant and staff are terrific. If you decide to dine here for a special occassion, mention this when making your reservation. The price is a little hefty, however, you'll leave with a terrific feeling. Go ahead, I challenge you to empty your water glass! Pros: Excellent steak, Superior staff, Attention to details more

It's the best 7/11/2002

Harris Restaurant is the best beef in SF -- no question about that. They don't try to hide the beef quality under covers as some other places do. You get beef that is cooked to your request to perfection, good sides, and good service. more

Best steak, period. 7/2/2002

So many reasons to go, but of course I keep going back for the best steak in town. Bring friends, because they love groups and do a wonderful job accomodating you with a couple of servers. more

My favorite restaurant! 6/23/2002

Ok...this place is not cheap, so make sure that you have the money to go all out. The fillet is amazing. They have a wonderful selection of wines. I recommend a martini to kick it all off in style! The clams are an amazing appetizer. They have really yummy creme brule. The service is the best around. We always take our out of town guests here. It is a special place. Pros: excellent service, great food, the best steak Cons: expensive more
