Best

They have something 1/2 off to eat and drink 7 days a week plus my class reunion was planned on their 1/2 off all food and drink Wednesdays..the price of my bill was ridiculously ...

Worst

Let me begin this review by saying I really want to like Harper’s. I’m a big fan of micro-brewed beers and this place brews some great tasting beers. Forget about getting a Bud ...

Boycott Harpers 7/12/2010

I am being completely honest when I say that the owners of this establishment have violated a number of labor laws and continue to do so. Trish and Pat are the owners of this establishment and I have never in my career as a server encountered two business owners who have more of a a COMPLETE lack of repect for their employees. They force their employees to sit for hours on end while off the clock when they dont have a table. This is ILLEGAL!! I have witnessed Trish and Pat demean and degrade their employees in every conceiveable manner which in no way could possibly boost employee morale as well as their profits yet they continue to bite the hands that feed them and I have a real difficult time understanding how they manage to remain in business. Go to Harpers sometime and ask your server how they are being treated by the owners. I will guarantee you that you will not get a positive response if your server is being honest. I dont believe that a customer should be punished as a result of the way they are being treated by the management or owners of an establishment though I will tell you that I have singlehandedly witnessed a server inserting a pubic hair into a dish that had been served to a guest at Harpers by a disgruntled employee. This is a disgusting act yet it occurs more often than you could imagine at the restaurants where employees are being undervalued and mistreated. In this economy I am all for supporting local businesses in East Lansing with the exeption of Harpers thanks to Pat and Trish's unjust labor practices. Pros: hard workers Cons: Sociopathic owners more

great brewed beer, great artichoke chicken, great prices 5/19/2009

They have something 1/2 off to eat and drink 7 days a week plus my class reunion was planned on their 1/2 off all food and drink Wednesdays..the price of my bill was ridiculously cheap. For this reason I go almost every Wed. and love the inside entertainment and fun ambiance. The ecclectic environment is fun and relaxing. The brewed beer is the best I have had in this state and I would recommend Harper's bottling it on the streets...I do buy growlers of it to take home. Go with for a party, with friends or family and you will love it too. Pros: extra bar great service, sports great on tv wall Cons: wish they had line of sight parking more

Stay away, 4/21/2008

Service, there was no service, after waiting 20 minutes to get drinks, then finding out when our dinner was served they had no napkins or silverware, upon servinng our dinner, 9 out 9 dinners cold, made wrong, onion rings and fries soggy, we were out side on deck. Cons: Leaving more

Beer, patio, summer - otherwise NO 3/21/2008

If it's a hot summer day and I'm really jonesin' for a cold micro-brew on a patio in the sun and maybe some pesto pizza - I'm going to Harper's for sure. But I KNOW that when I go I will have to pay cover to get in (even during family dinner time) and I will have to wait and wait and wait to get mediocre service. I might only get one beer on a busy day because no one will come back to my table to serve me. I'd say avoid Wednesday during their ""Everything Half Off"" night, but then you'd never get to have their expensive food at half the price. Go if you have to, avoid it if you don't. Pros: Pretty good food and beer, patio Cons: Terrible service more

Brewpub 12/26/2005

Haper's has a great variety of things to eat, and brews their own beers for a mixed crowd. Go on Wednesdays, when everything is half off, but be prepared to wait for your food, drinks, and even a seat. They also have a DJ which comes in later in the evening, and the crowd is pretty much typical college bar fare. Keep in mind that on different nights the clientelle varies, and the prices are a little bit higher on some nights. The atmosphere is excellent, and the selection of food is also very good Pros: Brewed Beer, 1/2 off Wednesdays, Great Ambiance Cons: High Prices, Slow Service more

Watered Down Drinks 6/24/2004

Harper's is a nice environment for the area. It is a college town, so most of the bars are excessively loud but Harper's is not. The only problem is the drinks are watered down. Pros: Not too loud, 1/2 off Weds. more
