competent and friendly service 9/6/2014

I was in town to visit my family and my car had a major problem. On Friday afternoon, the problem was diagnosed, the parts acquired, and I was back on the road within two and one-half hours. I could not have asked for a more competent team to get me back on the road. Everyone was professional and friendly. more

The owner was so kind to offer me a ride to my event when I suddenly ended up with a nail in my tire and was late, combined with her kindness and the awesome discount I got for being a AAA member and a student, I'm totally going back! more

Can calm down my wife's fears 8/6/2014

My wife was worried that the brakes were failing. Harlan Auto checked the brakes mechanism aligned the front and explained to HER that everything checked out very well. When Pam is happy, we are all happy! more

Expensive. 5/13/2014

I needed a new starter and was stranded in Murray. So I pulled my car into Harlan's... They were going to pay $250 for a part I found new at advance auto parts for $140, and don't do customer provided parts. I saved almost $200 by taking it to someone in mayfield. So I'm not sure about the service, but the cost is pretty high. more

They ripped me off! 1/18/2014

I am a college student at MSU. I went to Harlan because I knew that they were a Christian company and I had read good reviews online. I called earlier in the week and got a quote on tires. I was told that they would be about $102 a piece, so I scheduled to have them put on. When I got there, they asked me if I actually wanted them on my car. DUH! Why would a college (female) student just want tires for the fun of it? As a result of them putting them on my car, my total cost for the tires was $80 more than expected. I feel like I was ripped off completely. The tires should have been put on for free, especially since I was already paying over $400 for the tires themselves. I will not be going back for any service. more

I paid $45 for contradictory information 1/5/2014

I suggested to the secretary that I needed a wheel alignment. Instead of doing the wheel alignment, the secretary called and said they suggest I buy 4 new struts, tires, and shocks for a total of $1,400. When I got the shop, I was given a diagnostic that showed that at least one of the shocks and struts were marked ok. I have never been charged for a diagnostic before. And for $45 I would expect more information in the report, especially since the secretary contradicted what was on the report. more

When we realized we might not get to travel to MI because of a part that needed to be ordered, you went into high gear and helped get us on the road by noon the next day! We were able to get to MI ahead of the rain, snow, skeet, and storms! Thank you! more

  • Mike Harlan, owner of Harlan Automotive, is a graduate of Calloway County High School and Murray State University. His passion for cars began when he started working on his own 1973 Chevrolet Camaro, which ultimately led to a full-fledged passion for all things automotive and the opening of Harlan Automotive in 1991. Seven years later, Mike expanded the business and found Harlan Automotive a new home at 408 North 4th Street in Murray.
