Happy Tails Pet Resort is awful! I will 6/7/2012

Happy Tails Pet Resort is awful! I will NEVER take my dog there again. They ignored all instructions given for my dog. I've been there twice, giving them the benefit of the doubt the 1st time. But after this second time I know they do not take care of my dog. We picked him up and he could'nt wait to get out of that place. I don' t believe they fed him or gave him water(they returned most of the food we left for him). I scheduled play times for him and they did not give him any. They obviousy don't even care about making money. If you do tour the place, you will see that the beds are broken and dirty. The dummies provided a ""report card"" they were too lazy to even fill it out! They brag that it is vet owened. We asked that our dog be seen for a minor problem at some point within the 4 days he was there and were told when we picked him up that the vet was too busy at his off site practice. This was after they assured us he would be seen when we dropped him off. Unbelieveable, NEVER EVER again. I have been profusely appoligizing to my dog since I brought him home. Please be aware that this is no place for your beloved pet. more

Happy Tails = smiling doggy 2/23/2012

I just moved to the Austin area and was a bit apprehensive about leaving my 16 year old spitz in a kennel, but we had to go out of town on business, so no choice. Although I was not able to actually see the cage she stayed in, I did see that the cages of the other dogs were nice and clean. I wasn't sure my dog would like playing in the yard with the other dogs (she's old and territorial), but when I arrived to pick her up without advanced notice, she was out in the yard running back and forth with a big smile on her face! She seemed relaxed and healthy, and the staff seemed to love her. I would go back. more

Two Bad Experiences Too Many... 12/18/2010

Happy Tails has tremendous potential, but has done nothing but disappoint. In hindsight, we should have never gone to Happy Tails after being warned by a family member of their bad experience. However, due to the daycare's seemingly excellent setup, we gave them a chance that we never should have. We have two large dogs that are no strangers to daycare or boarding. In TWO separate situations we've personally seen a staff member violently handle and scold our dogs. After confronting the staff member, in both situations, the young girl was unresponsive and uninterested in our feelings about her mistreatment of our dogs - she simply walked away, ignoring our obvious concerns...customer service is clearly not a priority at Happy Tails ""Resort"". It is frightening to think how our pets are treated behind closed doors, when they are so willing to mistreat our dogs in front of our face. This staff is clearly untrained and ill-prepared to handle even the most typical of dog behaviors. Don't be fooled by the name and save yourself, and your pet, the bad experience that is bound to happen with a young, unprepared, and poorly managed staff. It is with the utmost sincerity that I encourage any pet owner that cares about the well-being and treatment of their pet to find a doggy daycare that has more to offer other than a pleasant-sounding name. more

Our wiggle butte loves Happy Tails 12/8/2010

Our dog absolutely loves Happy Tails and looks forward to every visit. She shows it by bursting out of the car and wiggles her tailfeather constantly. She has been going here for about 2 years and we are so extremely pleased with the entire Happy Tails staff. Always friendly, always welcoming, and we know they take care of our little furry baby right. My wife and I could not recommend a better place for a little play, a little socializing, and a little relaxation for your pet. They care, as you would care. Fantastic place, try it. more

A not so happy tale... 10/10/2010

I took my two dogs to Happy Tails about a month ago. I had visited the website first, which by the way, is completely misleading. If you actually look at the building you will see that all of the dogs are laying on the cold concrete with bedding hanging off of the kennels. Some have water, others don't. I walked in the door and I am pretty sure the ENTIRE staff was standing at the front hanging out and blabbing...none greeted me until I walked up to the counter and told them my name. The bigger, curly haired receptionist was extremely rude, not only on the phone but in person as well. I brought treats and bedding in hopes of making my babies stay more comfortable. The treats remained unopened and it was quite obvious the bedding was never used. The so-called "assistant manager" was very defensive and would not admit to any wrong-doing whatsoever. She seemed uneducated and had no idea how to take care of herself, let alone run a business. I am extremely disappointed in the level of care my pets received and will certainly NOT be going back. I hope they can find the staff and handymen they need to get this place in order. It certainly has potential with a little TLC. more

Happy Tails is true to its Name 5/28/2010

My dog, Bentley, has boarded at Happy Tails many times in the past year. I am able to get on the webcam and see how he is doing and most times he out of his room playing with the staff. When I call they remember Bentley every time and are always very excited that he is coming to spend time with them. I am comforted by the fact that even though I am not with Bentley, he is receiving loving attention and care. I would recommend Happy Tails to anyone who wants the reassurance that their beloved pet is loved and cared for while they are away. Pros: Staff is loving to the pets more

Our Pups Love Happy Tails 5/27/2010

Our two labs can't wait to get inside at Happy Tails. They bound up to the door and we just can't seem to get it open quick enough. The staff is attentive to instructions as there are multiple medication issues with one of our dogs. Both dogs have always received compassionate care, high energy exercise sessions and quality one-on-one interaction during their stays...some of which have been extended due to family illness and overseas vacation schedules. On a professional level, as a coordinator for fund raising activities for law enforcement canines in central Texas, I have received very positive feedback from various agencies and officers who kennel their dogs with Happy Tails. They have commented on the capability of the trained staff, cleanliness of the facility and the comfort of knowing that emergency care is close at hand should it be required. Bottom line, we are extremely pleased with the attentive and professional care afforded to our canine family members and would recommend Happy Tails without question. We live in Marble Falls and actually pass three pet kennel facilities to bring our labs to Happy Tails. It is worth the drive. Pros: Vet owned, caring compassionate staff Cons: Long drive for us but worth it more

The Staff Take Great Care of Our "kids" at Happy Tails 5/26/2010

We began bringing our 2 month-old Great Dane/Mastiff to Happy Tails for daycare after realizing that he was lonely during the day and not being exposed and socialized enough with other dogs. The staff at Happy Tails treated him like one of their own dogs and he spent a lot of his puppyhood up front socializing with staff and being pampered. When we got another puppy it only seemed natural to bring her along too and she also thrived under the careful attention of the staff. Our dogs know what "doggie daycare" means, and all it takes to get them up and running for the door in the morning is asking them if they "want to go to doggie daycare?" In the evening, Chopper is often in the play yard swimming in the plastic pool or running around outside. There have been times when he has planted his 130lb body in the lobby and refused to leave. While this can get annoying, I couldn't be happier with the way he seems to enjoy his time at Happy Tails. I have recommended Happy Tails to several other teachers at work because of the great attention and care they have given my pets. We couldn't be happier with Happy Tails and will continue to bring our dogs there while we work. Thanks Guys! Pros: Friendly, Knowledgeable, Clean, Great Location more

Not Happy at Happy Tails Pet Resort 5/25/2010

My oldest dog is 14 years old. She has arthritis and sleeps on an orthopedic dog bed. When we dropped off our babies on a Friday, we brought the dog beds with us. The lady at the front was too busy dealig with her infant child to listen to me. So the dog beds as we found out when we picked up our dogs were in another kennel with other dogs. This is why they couldn't find them when we were picking up our dogs.\r The nerve, the germs, the bugs, what did they think these were extra beds? I don't know what my girls slept on but I'm not coming back to this resort. There are too many other fun places to take them to. Pros: Close to where I live Cons: Put our dog beds into another kennel with other dogs more

Not okay 6/12/2008

The layout was well thought out. The upkeep is terrible. Long grass, insulation falling, leaking water. It seems nice till you look closer. Take a tour. They have web cams. Half work. If you watch the one in the play yard, you will not see any dogs playing for more than 10 minutes, two times a day. They also go home at 6 pm. So your dog is unattended for sometimes over 12 hours. Walking in it's own waste. They have no alarm system either. If someone breaks in or there's a fire. Oh well. Your dog could be gone. Pros: Good location. Cons: No thought to the real well being of your pets. $$$ more

Bad service and care 7/2/2007

I took my cat there and 3 days later after I picked him up he became very ill and I took him to my vet. My cat had caught a very contagious virus. I call them and told them that they had a problem and they told me that I was on their list to call of possible infected cats. Now they refuse to help with the bill or any compensation and are very rude and defensive. I am having to force feed my cat and give him medications 3x a day. more
