Yes, I too should have READ THE REVIEWS.. But I was only getting estimates. When I made the appt. I made it perfectly clear that my spouse may or may not be present, If they didn't want to come out fine I have other estimates lined up. Well the guy came and my husband was there. 1. They do not manufacture their own windows as claimed. 2. they are NOT rated number 8 or 9 in the replacement window website as shown in their propaganda(go to it). If you go to the NFRC website they are listed as a member but not a manufacture anywhere. On their site they do not mention that they manufacture their own windows, but nor do they tell you who does. to end the drama my spouse had to leave after sitting through the first 45 min of the appt to pick up one of the kids. The salesman finished, then said well it?s a shame your husband couldn?t stay I'm not supposed to give an estimate without both here... I informed him what my guidelines were when the appt was made. He made a call to his boss packed up his stuff and left. Big waste of 1+15 out of my Saturday. This I guess is a big example of the ""High"" pressure sales. Where they think you will sign on the dotted line in one day. Run away from them!! They seem to have lost of stores but like the woman above I am capable of doing research and forming my own decision. My spouse really would care what was picked as long as I was informed. more

Scam and destroy 8/8/2008

I wish I had seen this site before I signed my happiness death-warrant! I can pretty much re-itterate the comments listed before me, but I can take it to another level. I am a single woman who purchased my house and continues to pay for it on my own and was CONSTANTLY referred to as MRS and asked about the husband. In this day and age, it is incredibly offensive to not only assume a woman to be married, but also to a man! What if I, instead, had a ""partner""? Anyhow, the salesman I had wasn't too bad and I forced along the ""dog and pony show"" because I just wanted the bottom line. The day of installation. that took THREE MONTHS to line up, I already had a defective window. I was told that it would take AT THE MOST 3 weeks to replace. It has now been a month. Also, the windows have some sort of residue on them that Hanson's own workers can't figure out. I now have streak or scratched windows that may need to be replaced. Oh, and to add insult to injury, when they sent out a representative from the manufacturer, he stood on my hose-stand and broke it off my brick house! Yes, that's right, a hose-holder that was DRILLED into brick and mortar. I have retained a lawyer and am now going to enjoy watching Brian Elias squirm since through the entire process he has REFUSED to answer any of calls or e-mails. Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE!!!!! Pushy Customer Service 7/8/2008

After seeing a commercial for Hanson's I decided to call them regarding their gutter guards. I call and asked if they would come to my home and give me an estimate. The gentleman asks when a good time would be for them to come out and meet with my husband and myself. I explained my husband would be at work and I would be the one home. They told me they prefer to have my husband and me at home and again I said this was not a possibility, I just wanted an estimate! I declined there offer and decided would call someone else. The next day they called and tried to schedule an appointment I said no. Another phone call and I explained again i was not interested they asked if I would like to speak to a manager I again said NO thank you. The next day a girl calls me and yet again I said no because my husband would not be home for the estimate and I was angry because they wouldn't come out if I was home alone, I said what is this 1950 my husband trusts my judgment. She then got pushy and asked me if I was on the DEED TO MY HOME. I was shocked and asked what business of that is hers! I said this was just for an estimate and she explained again how Hanson's likes to have both couples at home for the estimate. I said again i wasn't interested and she asked me for a second time was i on the deed to my house. she was pushy and rude and I would never use Hanson's. Cons: pushy and rude more

The Fleecing of the Elderly 7/1/2008

My father and his wife are in their late 80's. Hansons took them for $30,000.00. All they have is stains and leaks plus no ceiling over their tub because of the leaks. In case of an emergency, they can't even open their front door to get to safety. Call after call ends up with laughter from Hansons' employees. Boss man sits on his throne, collects his money, and fleeces the elderly out of the hard earned money it took them years to save. My father has lived in this house for 54 years. It is his pride and joy. Now, he sits and looks at the invoice and shakes his head. How do you answer a father when he asks, ""Why would anyone do this to me? I trusted him."" Mr. Hanson, you have destroyed my father's trust. Next, we will see what our court system can do to re-build that trust. more

Please don't use Hansons. 6/17/2008

The first salesman we used undercut Wallside by 2k so we went with them, choosing to do the upstairs before winter and downstairs in the spring. The total cost was promised to be $7500. The salesman PROMISED us if we only had half done before winter and the rest done in spring, the price wouldn't change. What a lie. We were pleased after they installed the upstairs, even though the windows were framed in white. Funny, the Wallside quote he compared was framed in almond, because we have tan siding and dark brick. It would of only been $25 a window more to actually match our house correctly as well as to match our quote. Our fault though, as we should have made sure we got what we wanted. more

Worse customer relations I ever seen 6/2/2008

We ordered windows about six years ago, due to unexpected changes, we had to cancel the order on which we had paid $1600 down. We were told we could not cancel because it was 7days to late. We had to move out of the house we ordered the windows within 30 days. We have been trying to tell them to deliver the custom windows and at that time we would just pay for them. They refused to do that. We started to try and get in touch with them again to work something out this year, 2008. They have sent sales reps to try and sell us again. I refuse to do this all over again, we have been give a lower quote by another company. Now no one will contact us again. I have a lawyer who says we have a case due to the pressure tactics use the first time around. When Hansons call just hang up or run. Pros: they measure Cons: pressure, cost, customer service and attitude of sales persons more

Stay away from Them 4/23/2008

I called to cancel an order which I thought was to expensive for the number of windows. I am not in Michigan with my parents but just from talking to my father and the salesperson it was a high pressure encounter. The regular stuff about how great their windows are and every other product is terrible. I got the operator when I called and told her I wanted to cancel. The salesman said he just happened to be at her desk. I obtained a quote for approx. $2000 less from 2 other companies with free financing for 48 months. He agreed to lower the price but not remove the 14.9% interest fee. I am ONLY looking after my parents interest and they plan on moving in the next year, why spend $2000 extra when cheaper will do to provide a facelift. I buy and sell homes and vinyl window quality is not going to sell a house to me. I have read several reviews about Hanson's and I believe every word after being subjected to it this morning. I guess it was a good deal the first time he quoted my father to high and now wants to come down to less than half of the original price. They would have laughed all the way to the bank with the deal they had written up for them. I never received a copy of the contract for review as request on the first day that he made the pitch (5 days ago). The salesman even wanted to speak with my 75 yr old father again like they were buddies, I have a POA to conduct all of his business. ""BUYER BEWARE OF HANSON'S PRACTICES"" more

Manipulative Sales Tactics 4/18/2008

I called Hanson's windows because the jingle is catchy enough that I had the phone number memorized. Not a great reason, but I assumed that a company that advertises that much must be doing well and have a good product. I was extremely unhappy with the high pressure sales technique that ended with the salesperson walking out the door without giving me a quote. Basically, I was put in a position in which I needed to be willing to agree on the spot to get my windows from them or I wouldn't get the quote. I was also told that I could not have a quote unless I was willing to sit through a 3-4 HOUR long presentation. When I scheduled the appointment, I was told that I would need 90 minutes. I've contacted the company with my complaint and have received no response. Based on the large number of similar reviews/complaints that I've read, I expect no response. This is not a customer service oriented company. more
