Great Place for a quick lunchtime Haircut!

Worst

You should avoid this place at all costs. The service is subpar at best, you're not treated like your business matters and to top it all off have your haircut by an unprofessional...

Japanese Hair Straightening Professionals 12/17/2010

Wow what a great place! The staff is very experienced with this very specific form of hairstyling. Japanese Hair Straightening is a very complicated procedure. They have the knowledge to throughly educate their clients about the process and the potential risks involved. Rob the owner really cares about his customers. The shop in Secaucus is set up to provide the Japanese Hair Straightening to New York City and Northern New Jersey clients. Do not risk you hair to just anyone. A perspective for the reader’s discretion. 11/16/2010

We Have been in business since 1982 and going strong, not because our activities and policies are consistent with the negative reviews herein. Most of these negative reviews are clearly aimed at me, the owner, not my staff or our services. That is because most of these reviews are the result of an internet vendetta by a local competitor (currently on skid row) and some of their clients who had been rewarded with discounts for posting such reviews. I had come to learn this because people in this town talk, but you see, that’s just it, you can't always know who the Masked net-review Marauder is. If you are a real person who had a bad hair experience and somehow believes that we are responsible for it, that is imposable, because we would never let that happen to a reasonable client with a reasonably articulated concern. Instead, we would go above and beyond the call of duty to gain your trust by making you look and feel fabulous. Yes, this 2,000 sq. ft. Salon and Day-Spa, doing business in Harmon Meadows shopping mall since 1982 sees a lot of people annually, but still, I would remember anyone ever coming to us with what was described in these reviews and I definitely do not! Unethical business practices at this salon 9/20/2010

I am not the only customer to have had an awful experience at this place, also known as Hudson Hair. I got a TR, I was assured that my stylist was knowledgeable, and I suffered from severe breakage due to the service. When I called to speak to the owner, Rob, he never offered to have a stylist look at my hair to access or repair the damage. He simply denied that the breakage was from the TR done at his salon. Frustrated, I searched the internet for resources on how to fix the damage. Ironically, I came across many complaints about TR breakage, and bad service from this specific salon. You can check them out at hairstraightening dot net and look under Liscio Japanese Hair Straightening, where at least 5 customers have complained about this salon. One woman explains that she shows Rob a bald spot on her head, to which he takes no accountability. Another woman observes that the owner "" had diarrhea of the mouth"" and ""is a belittling Mr know it all to his employees."" Another writes in all caps ""PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS SALON!!!!"" I don't know if Rob's 11 year old marketing director got wind of any of these posts. In reaction to multiple customer complaints, Rob tries to combat the problem, by aggressively monitoring internet reviews that expose his poor service, as you can see from his post below. Rob used to participate at the Lamas beauty message boards, until he was banned for posting harassing messages. That hasn't actually stopped him from posting under false names where the message title is usually the link to his salon's website. I honestly think he has mental health issues, perhaps a personality disorder. You can see a few of his nonsensical posts on the lamasbeauty site. And just so everyone is clear, breakage from a TR doesn't necessarily happen right away. When a stylist makes a mistake, like applying the solution too close to the scalp or improper ironing, a 90 degree bend can form on every hair strand near the root. Mine looked like white dots, that weaken and break off over time. Why would I want to expose a guy like this? Because I paid several hundred dollars for the service, had my hair severely damaged, where it took 2 1/2 years to fully grow back. I also need to shell out money for treatments for the damaged areas, while it was growing back. If I had known that this place has a history of performing thermal reconditioning, where many customers complain of breakage, I never would have had the service done there. more

Warning--I had a TR done, and ended up with severe breakage 10/2/2009

I had a TR done, and several months later I had severe breakage because the stylist overprocessed my hair by putting me under a heatlamp while the TR solution was on my hair. Well, this isn't a normal part of the process, and I ended up with 25% of my hair breaking off, mostly at the crown.\r \r I contacted the owner, and he flat out denied all responsibility for the breakage. \r \r My sister got a TR done here, and she experienced breakage as well Cons: Rob the owner is a sociopath more
