Great Shabu, great people! 7/16/2009

We always enjoy eating here. We usually order prime rib, it's very juicy and tender, even our small kids can eat well! Good amont of meat and veggies, zesty dipping sauces, ramen, ice cream and mini coffee.......Mmmmm We gotta go back tonight! All servers are nice and friendly. Last week our kids got little toys made by origami paper. Thanks, guys. Pros: Great shabu shabu, great people Cons: Busy on weekends more

Best Shabu Shabu value 6/19/2009

I have been eating here for over 10 years, and I LOVE this place. The staff is always friendly, and the Kobe extra large or marble all-you-can-eat are my favorite items on the menu. Pros: best shabu shabu Cons: not enough tables more

Just Average 3/29/2009

There are some Shabu Shabu places that you just KNOW you're coming back to. This place, I would probably not return. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. We were seated in the corner of the restaurant, which would be okay usually, but this corner seemed to be a mini storage. There was a broken chair, a broom, and some pieces of wood all pushed aside to this random conrner where they decided to seat customers anyway. Second, the hot pots are deeper than usual, so you have to stick your hand inside the pots (not in the water) to grab your food. The steam burns your hands! Everyone knows that the sause also makes a big difference. Here, the sause was just okay. Not enough to make me say, ""wow, I'm coming back here again"". Pros: is it a pro if I say ""not that bad""? Cons: overall, its just average more

Best Shabu in the South Bay 3/5/2007

since there have only been 3 reviews written on gyushintei, i think its unfair that someone gave them bad reviews for the bad service. my first experience there was great, the service was pleasant, and we got seated right away at ~7pm on a saturday night. Pros: great ambience, plenty of food, lots of parking Cons: pricy more

Worst Service 10/29/2006

The ""all you can eat"" menu is a scam. It takes them 1 hour to serve you the UNCOOKED veggie and meat. Even after you submit your next order immediately after they served you the first one, they will lag for about 40 min on purpose. The ""all you can eat"" ends at 9:30pm for dinner so you will only get about 2 servings the whole night. The waitress all have bad attitude more

Food Beyond The Shabu! 7/10/2006

I decided to try the choices other than shabu shabu available on the menu, and was pleasantly surprised:) If you like traditional Japanese food, try the Bacon wrapped Enoki mushrooms! Absolutely delicious! I also had the Beef Teriyaki plus added Miso soup, salad, and Rice... I topped it off with hot green tea! The total bill came to $26.00 and was enough for two! So if you want to spring for some cost effective options...-any of these selections filled the bill. Friendly staff and plenty of free parking rounded it out. The bathroom was clean and pleasant as well. Pros: Clean and Inviting Cons: Chuto Takai ... Little bit Expensive (but all shabu shabu is) more

Outstanding shabu shabu 11/5/2005

One of the best shabu shabu restaurants I've ever experienced. Been going here for over 10 years, and service and food are always exceptional. Open for lunch only on Fridays, unfortunately, but dinner every night is a guaranteed treat for everyone. Meat and vegetables are always fresh and delicious and the staff truly make you feel welcome and are the best I've experienced in the South Bay ever. Highly recommend the prime rib beef shabu and the various salads and appetizers. A true diamond in the rough. Pros: Food quality, Staff friendliness, Fun to eat Cons: Lunch only Fri-Sun more
