I have gone to the Newton store on very busy promo events where there are lots of people and have been very impressed with Norm and the sales team's knowledge and desire to match the right equipment with my needs and budget. Here you have the opportunity to try out a number of different Mfger's products to achieve your fitness goals. The delivery was top notch performed by 2 highly trained and professional individuals. Having worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years now, and provided services to some of the most demanding clients, whenever someone needs home or commercial equipment, I refer them to Gym Source in Newton. Norm and his team have never failed to offer the best sales and service to my clients (I would have heard about it, believe me). He has helped over 75 of my clients either set up entire fitness centers in their homes, or simply help choose the right piece of cardio equipment for their individual needs. I have had dealings with other suppliers in the area, and there is absolutely no comparison; Gym Source is by far the better choice. more

I had the Gym Source service department person come to my home to fix my treadmill and to make sure my exercise bike was working properly. I bought both pieces of equipment from the Newton store. He told me the bike was fine and recommended that I do a 'routine' repair, replacing the belt, during the next few months. He offered to order the belt and have someone replace it for me sooner than that. I agreed, and a month later a different service guy showed up and replaced the belt, and he left. The next time I tried to use the bike, I found that it was broken. There was no resistance at all. The service guy took a bike that was working just fine and made it unusable. more

I felt the need to write this review after reading a few unfair negative reviews on this site. I have been a Gym Source customer since 1997 and I wouldn't even dream about going elsewhere!!! Norm has always gone out of his way to make sure I have exactly what I need, even when my purchase has been something as small as a low-cost exercise ball! As the first in-home personal training company in Massachusetts (since 1991) we were apprehensive about sending our clients to anyone other than a manufacturer for exercise equipment. The manager is the worst customer service rep I've ever dealt with. He is extremely rude and hostile. Very unreliable and defensive. Also insulting. Obviously they have a limited audience for their product and likely can't hire normal people but there have to be better options than buying anything here. more

I've been a trainer in the industry for over 8 years now and have referred over 100 clients to Norm and Matt at Gym Source. They have handled small requests of one set of dumbbells to the installation of mega home gyms for my clients and have always come through for me. Without a doubt the best equipment available. If you want cheap, go to Sears, but be prepared to replace the item in a year or two. I have a client who just replaced her 10 year old treadmill (which she and her husband use every day) that was purchased from Gym Source and it still ran great. She wanted the new features. had a machine that I kept having issues with making noises. They came out and tried this and that. I finally quit calling. But after a year I thought enough and called again. They ordered a new one and got it to me within a week. I only wish I had not waited a year. I can't blame them for that. I found delivery was fast and crew were nice. One of the office staff that answered once could have had better customer service training. But Norm (owner??) was always very nice and I think I am all set. more

I purchased high end exercise equiptment from Gym Source two years ago. The equiptment came with a three year guarantee. Over the past 24 months, the equiptment has functioned less than 50% of the time. Gym Source has repeatedly lied to me about the availability of parts and service calls are entirely unreliable. Each repair has required a minimum of two visits, and one repair took over three months to complete. I am amazed that this company can stay in business with their deceitful practices and unreliable service. The delivery service is beyond "HORRID". The delivery men are rude, lazy, and to be quite frank--frightening. They missed two promised delivery dates, and then showed up three hours late on the third promised date. They arrived at noon for a promised 9:00 am "First Delivery"--they claim they were caught up in traffic. Did I mention that they lie as well. However the best was yet to come...when they finally did arrive, they claimed that because there was some ice on the stairs they couldn't deliver. The stairs had been thoroughly shoveled and salted. However, because I didn't want to have to schedule yet another delivery date, I salted the stairs with another 20 lbs. of salt. When I finished, the delivery man smirked at me and told me to break the ice for him, or he wasn't bringing anything in the house. I'm 5'4" and 105 lbs., and this 230 lb. delivery man had the nerve to demand this of me. At that moment, it became obviouse to me that he was going to continue to come up with excuses for not doing his job. It also became obvious that he was enjoying being rude. I had enough. I called the Peabody store manager and discussed the situation with him. When the delivery man was called by his dispacher and told to bring the equipment in the house. He refused...claiming that I would accuse him of damaging something. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I'm still waiting to hear what the manager is going to do about this situation. Had a poor experience getting my equipment delivered. One excuse after another. Should have trusted my instincts when I visited the store. Im going back to my health club. more

Just had the most bizarre conversation today with the folks at Gym Source (Newton). There are 2-3 inches of snow on the ground, no schools closed, yet all of their deliveries (except one truck to a commerical site 5 miles from the warehouse) are cancelled today. So, if you buy from Gym Source, make sure you know what the weather will be before you set up your delivery, as it appears they are unwilling and/or unable to meet even the most minimum delivery obligations unless it's sunny and 70 degrees outside. Very inconvenient to waste an off day waiting for a delivery that is cancelled at the last minute - I might even understand if the schools were closed, but it's okay to send our children to wait at the bus stop, but the muscle guys from Gym Source can't work in the flurries. Pros: good selection Cons: bad customer service, wasted my time, couldn't deliver more

I HAVE HAD SO MANY CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES WITH THIS PLACE! AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. THE PEOPLE THAT WORK FOR GYM SOURCE ARE RUDE AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THIER CUSTOMERS.
