I've been taking lessons at Guitar Decatur and I love it! Not only do they teach guitar & bass guitar, but they also offer voice, violin, piano, & clarinet lessons as well. All of the teachers are extremely friendly and great at what they do. I've learned so much and gotten so much better since starting here. They work w/ all levels, w/ a teaching style that keeps things comfortable & fun. Very affordable and flexible with your schedule. If you've ever so much as thought about taking lessons, do it here. Excellent Music Instruction 2/2/2012

We had an excellent experience at Guitar Decatur. Our three girls took lessons, and Eddie was able to schedule them at the same time, which was a timesaver for us. One of our girls took guitar lessons from Eddie, one took violin lessons from Shannon, and one took voice lessons from Francisca. Our girls loved the lessons, and loved coming home and practicing. Guitar Decatur took the stress out of practice for us, because they encouraged the girls to practice and have fun, and let me know I shouldn't stress or require a long period for practice. It was a great experience, and we hope others will try them out! We are moving out of state, so we won't be able to take lessons from them any longer. We hope to find another music instruction place like this where we are going. more

BEST in Atlanta-Do NOT Go ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! 1/26/2012

I have been taking lessons at Guitar Decatur for just over a year. Upon my first lesson my instructor Eddie (also the owner) asked me ""what is your reason for taking up Guitar and what do you want to make sure you are getting out of each session?"" I loved the approach because it wasn’t about what THEY wanted to teach me it was about what I wanted to get out of it. I began my lessons not even know how to hold a guitar and just shy of a year later can not only play pretty much anything I set out to learn (with practice of course!) but also have written and recorded 5 original songs. \r After several months of mastering the basics my instructor asked if I was interested in writing music at all. It was then I had a new found passion, we spend practices now not only working on playing but also writing and composing music to my lyrics. With the constant push and encouragement that I have received from Guitar Decatur I have opened doors for myself that I never would have thought possible only a year ago. I would and actually have recommended this place to many!\r more

best guitar lessons in atlanta! 12/5/2011

Guitar Decatur is a fantastic instruction studio! The business location is very inviting, with 3 great studios inside. Its kept very clean and they give you flexibility with your lesson schedule. The staff are very knowledgeable and help you to learn what you want at whatever pace is most comfortable for you. Decatur is normally a hard place to find parking, but there's a free lot behind the business and I've never had any trouble here. In a nutshell- great people,great location, great atmosphere, great lessons! more

Great studio, great people 12/21/2010

I've been taking lessons with Derek of Guitar Decatur for the past few months. While I'd had a guitar for a while, I was one of those people who pulled it out and fiddled around with it every few months. I finally decided to take the plunge and take some lessons, and I'm very glad I did. Derek's a great teacher, great guitar player, and a very cool guy. He's happy to help you focus on what you want to learn at your pace. In addition, the studio is a great little place - very well kept up, a nice, relaxing atmosphere, and 3 nice studios. more

Really Good Guitar Studio 12/6/2010

My son takes lessons here with Eddie Minjarez. He is learning to play well and really looks forward to the lesson each week. The approach Eddie takes has enough structure to learn the fundamentals without boring the student. Eddie really knows his stuff as a player and as a teacher. more

Drove by several times before finally stopping..glad I did! 11/30/2009

Eddie is an excellent easy going and encouraging instructor. I have fiddled (no pun intended) with the guitar for many years (I am 56) but never took any instruction so I kept giving up and never progressed very far. I went to Eddie and told him I only wanted to be able to play a little blues and learn some basics that would also allow me to play other music styles if I became interested. I expected him to have a set program that probably would not match what I was looking for but Eddie immediately started talking about a tailored approach to achieve my objectives. In just three months (30 minutes once a week) I have been able to learn essential guiatar techniques, key chords, the major and blues scales which have allowed me to improvise over the entire fretboard. Eddie provided me with what I asked for and more than I knew to ask for and has helped me to now enjoy playing the guitar. Eddie is about your goals but he makes sure you see what else is available if you are interested. I don't mean to make this sound simple...like anything you get out of it what you put in it in terms of practice and self initiative. Do yourself a favor and do what I did...just stop in and talk to Eddie. He's a straight shooter. Pros: Works with what you know and takes you where you want to go. Cons: None so far more

Edward Minjarez is a great guitar instructor. I've been learning guitar with Ed for about the past three years. He has an amazing wealth of knowledge and expertise that has really elevated my understanding of guitar and music. Pros: High level of music instruction in relaxed Decatur. Cons: No cons more

Great Private Lessons 7/28/2009

I had played a guitar for a few years before attending Guitar Decatur - but couldn't read music at all or play with others. Within about 6 months here i have improved so much. I have a much better understanding of guitar as well as music in general and can read pretty quickly now. The best thing about taking lessons is that it provides structure and motivation to learn pieces for next lessons. I highly recommend Guitar Decatur. Pros: easy to work with - very knowledgeable – great improvement more

Any song you want to learn, Eddie can figure out in minutes and he has great advice when writing your own music. Guitar Decatur is a great place to learn what you want to learn, at your own pace. more
