I never write bad reviews, but in this case... 12/27/2011

The only reason I rate it one star is there is no zero star rating. My 18 year old daughter traveling alone for the first time from SC to WI on greyhound was told at a previous station she was not going to Knoxville when the ticket clearly said she was. They bumped her off the bus, in turn missing her connecting bus in Knoxville. Realizing this mistake afterward, the staff are of no consolation and snap at her like she is a convict. In Knoxville she was told there are no more buses she can take and after waiting almost 5 hours at the previous station, now has to wait until tomorrow morning to catch a different bus for the rest of her trip. We are currently experiencing what can only be explained as a parents nightmare since. I called her a cab to take her to a nearby hotel to shower and have a good cry. She has invested over 18 hours into getting back to WI and is only 3.5 hours away from the starting point according to yahoo. There is no help from the staff, her suitcase was taken off the bus by the driver at some point and set into a curb side puddle so all her clean clothes inside are disgusting and wet, her bag of food was left on the bus and she was not allowed to go back to get it, and she will have been on the road for about 40 hours before arriving to her destination at this point if nothing else goes wrong. more

Boo! 3/20/2011

I just used this company yesterday for a trip from Knoxville, TN to Indianapolis, IN. Talk about a total bummer. I was there a little early, about an hour and a half before the bus left. I have never taken a bus so I didn't want any suprises. It was a hassle and I had to pay extra for baggage because I was not informed of their ""limit"" of only one bag under the bus and one carry on bag. Finally time to get on the bus, was not told to form a line or anything so was waiting outside...had to go back in the station, stand in line for 20 minutes to even get the ticket to the driver, and watched them throw, not just sit the luggage in the bottom of the bus, but literally chunk it under there with no regard whatsoever. Sat on the bus for another 45 minutes waiting for the driver to get done talking and smoking with his buddies before we ever left. I'm no genius at this stuff, like I said it was my first time on a bus, but isn't there some law saying they have to go the speed limit???? He was absolutely flying down the road, no regard for safety or other traffic. At one point he stopped on the side of the road, walked off the bus then walked right back on and left again? WTF? Didn't do anything, just stepped off and stepped right back on. When I got to Cincinatti where I had to transfer buses, it was a damn mess. I got my baggage, went inside and almost threw up over the smell. There was a guy that kept going from person to person trying to beg off food money, etc...it took them over an hour to get him out of there. Second driver wasn't as bad, he did the speed limit but was all over the road. Overall, the condition of the stations I was at, the drivers, and the general attitude of the workers associated with Greyhound was a HUGE disappointment. If you choose to go through them, good luck is all I can tell ya. more

Greyhound still operating in mid 20th century 2/26/2010

Greyhound is amazing, but not in a good way! The website would not let me purchase tickets online, saying I had to purchase tickets at least 2 hours before the scheduled trip--it was over a week in advance. Then I called and they cannot book a reservation by phone either, only at the station! They told me on the phone that the Knoxville station was open 24 hours a day. I drove an hour into Knoxville to buy my tickets, and when I arrived at 9:00 am, there is a sign saying that they are closed from 7:00-11:00!! What a load of crap. Needless to say, I could not wait for 2 hours. \r \r Get a clue, Greyhound! It's just amazing that a company specializing in public transportation cannot provide a convenient way to purchase tickets, and that the customer service can be so miserable. Cons: terrible customer service, noone knows what is going on more
