My experience was very similar to Bree's.
I have lived at Green Valley 2 separate times. The first time I lived there, the only issue I had were most of my neighbors were psychotic convicts and boot camp rejects, since they do not do any sort of background check there. The first night I was there, my across the hall neighbor, a handicapped woman in her 40's in a wheelchair, was flipped over by her son's crazy friend. Other than that, I had 1 good neighbor, any my experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good.
After venturing to 2 other apartments, I returned to Green Valley due to financial problems, and that was all I could afford at the time. This last time was the absolute WORST living experience I have EVER had! My air went out, and it took them a week and a half to fix it. It was so hot and humid we could not stay in our apartment, so my boyfriend, the cats and I had to stay at our parents' houses. The first maintenance man who came to look at the air conditioning unit spoke BARELY ANY ENGLISH and called me 6 TIMES not understanding what apartment number I was telling him. I had to go outside and flail my hands around to get his attention to direct him to the correct unit. The office staff was rude when I told them about the air being broken. They did not care that it irritated mine and my boyfriend's medical conditions to the point that we could not stay there.
The office staff COULD be worse. They are generally nice as long as you pay your rent on time and don't confront them with how much their maintenance sucks. Even if you politely disagree with them, they get rude and defensive.
A few times, we could not make full rent and they were kind in helping make arrangements, so I do have to give them that.
But even that can't make up for the last part I am about to write about in this review. Our downstairs neighbors had bedbugs, and when they moved out, the bugs moved into our apartment. Lisa accused me of bringing them into the building and told me I should feel fortunate that they are not making me pay for the removal of the bugs. The removal of the bugs is a joke. After they ""treated"" the apartment, we were still finding bugs. They told me that I didn't have an ""infestation"" in my apartment, but I have paperwork from the extermination company saying there was. They tried to act like it wasn't a big deal, but it was. We had to throw away our mattress and our couch. Several of my clothes were ruined in an attempt to wash everything in one day at the laundromat, which alone cost about $200. It also caused extreme anxiety, paranoia, panic attacks, high blood pressure and depression. It was an extremely traumatic event and they were absolutely apathetic to the whole thing. It was terrible.
I would not recommend living here at all. If you absolutely must because you cannot afford anywhere else, please, to save your sanity, purchase a bed bug proof mattress encasement and put your clothes in plastic bins rather than hanging them up, to take per caution.
Green Valley is SO notorious for having bed bugs, that the current apartment I am staying at REQUIRES ANYONE COMING FROM GREEN VALLEY, WHETHER THEY HAD AN INFESTATION OR NOT TO HAVE THEIR BELONGINGS SNIFFED/INSPECTED BY A BED BUG SNIFFING DOG!
Apparently, Bree and I aren't the only ones. Don't become a victim.
