This place looked promising, tasteful decor and with a more natural take on Westernised Mexican cuisine.

Looking forward to eating here, yum! more

yes please! 8/24/2011

I enjoy their food here. Lots of mouth watering flavor and I like the super fast way they get the food out to you, without feeling hurried. More accurately, I think I should say that the food comes out in successions, at the perfect timing. more

Green Chile...No thanks! 11/27/2007

We will NEVER go back! 11/27/2007

We recently ate lunch at Green Chile Kitchen. The food was ordinary, at best. The emphasis is on natural food, but it?s lacking in flavor ? plus, it took ages for our food to arrive. more

GREAT FOOD! 11/11/2007

MMMM_MMMMMM GOOOODDDD!!!! Pros: BEST FOOD IN THE CITY! Cons: might have to take time to find parking if driving more

New Mexico feel & new type of Mexican - yum! 9/22/2007

If you know where Hatch, New Mexico is - then you will like this place. A fresh take on the tired beans, rice and cheese with everything tex-mex or ""authentic"" mexican food that balnkets this city. While there are great places for the ultimate burrito or real Yucatan food, this clean cozy place takes a path that other restaurants have missed. Smoking good green chile dishes, high celings with clean lines and comfy surrounding with a few boothes. The presentation is the clincher to very tasty dishes. Staff is friendly and helpful. Yes you lazy ""wanted to be waited on hand and foot"" people - you have to stand in line to order. This set-up means that the staff is concentrating on the food - which arrives in a flash. A great beer selection and a surprisingly good wine list takes this place up another notch. Rumor has it that the breakfast menu - until noon M-F and 2pm S-S - has a big following. We will be back! Pros: Great food - fresh and tastey Cons: Parking a challenge - so be green like the chile and walk more

Good Red Chile but no sopapillas. 7/24/2007

I'm a visiting out-of-towner who grew up in Santa Fe, so when I read there was a New Mexican restaurant here I had to try it out. I was surprised it was a counter service restaurant and not table service, but that was OK. Lots of seating for the amount of customers. As a true New Mexican restaurant though there are some menu items that are musts: Red Chile (check), green chile (check), sopapillas (nope), enchiladas (check, and a good NM restaurant offers flat enchiladas (check)), blue corn tortillas (check), egg on top of the enchilada (nope), posole (check). I found the red chile to be very smooth and perhaps even a touch spicier then that in Santa Fe. However, the lack of sopapillas is mind-boggling. For those of you unfamiliar with sopapillas they are the NM version of a fried dough product (think about it, every culture has one). It is a square piece of fried dough about 4 inches by 4 inches and when fried puffs up like a pillow. Proper way of eating is to tear off a corner and poor honey into the pillow. YUM! more

good food...but not as authentic as i'd like. 1/6/2007

i was incredibly excited to hear about a new mexican restuarant opening in the city....i'd been complaining about how terrible california mexican cuisine is ever since i moved here from NM. i'd been surviving off frozen chile in my freezer from my favorite restuarant in santa fe....but i'm a terrible cook. finally, a place to get green chile! more

Do not eat here 8/20/2006

The staff are very unfriendly and haven't heard of the term ""customer service"". They didn't put my burrito in a bag and failed to give me any chips and salsa (I didn't realize that until I was already gone). They made it VERY clear I'd be charged for the extra cheese, God forbid, and the burrito was far from fabulous. Very highly NOT recommended. more

Refreshingly Authentic but... 7/24/2006

As a native New Mexican I crave a NM chile fix and was so excited to discover the Green Chile Kitchen. The food is excellent and prices are great. Selection of native New Mexcian products such as Blue Sky soda was quite a surprise. The only complaint that I have that was not native to the New Mexican tradition was the customer service, or lack there of. Neither of the two staff members were freindly or welcoming, which was very discouraging since I had been so looking forward to my visit. What happen to ""Beinvenidos."" Pros: Authentic! Cons: Customer service is lacking. more

Great New Find 7/15/2006

I've been walking by this place since they opened and I've always wanted to check it out. Well tonight I headed over there for dinner. They totally blew away my expectations. This place was flat out awesome. Pros: Good quick food. Cons: Probably wouldn't take a date there. more

great for eat-in or take-out 6/9/2006

This is a great addition to the Panhandle neighborhood. My husband and I visit this place 1-2 times a week and everything is always super fresh. They just added enchiladas to the menu and they are by far the best thing on the menu. I also recommend the simmered pork plate and the posole. They use organic ingredients which makes the menu a little pricey, but well worth it. The staff is also very friendly. Great organic wines too. Pros: fresh, organic ingredients & friendly staff Cons: a little pricey. about $25 for two people more

Not Your Average Taqueria 3/4/2006

While burritos grace the menu of this neighborhood gem, it's a nice alternative to the abundance a standard Mexican found in the city. I found the New Mexican fare to be filled with subtle flavors and nicely balanced spices. The roasted chickens are definitely a stand-out and the curbside delivery has already proven the most innovative concept for this city. A clean pleasant decor rounds out the experience when you opt to eat in. I can see this place becoming a nice place to hang out and throw back some beers. Pros: Neighborhood Joint, Beer Service, Great Food more

Real New Mexican in the heart of San Francisco! 2/19/2006

Being a native New Mexican who ate New Mexican chile from birth, was skeptical that this restaurant would live up to expectation. However, we found that the food is authentic, tasty and fresh. The atmosphere is comfortable, the wait staff friendly, and they even offer curb-side takeout! I only wish that they had an expanded menu -- green chile cheeseburgers, enchiladas or sopapillas perhaps? This will definitely be a home away from home for this transplanted New Mexican! Pros: Tasty! Authentic!, Organic! Friendly!, Spicy! more

Great flavors of the true southwest 2/15/2006

What the citysearch reviewer does not realize is that most ingredients in a restaurant in New Mexico are from California. What makes the food from NM different is the savory chile sauce. Any person who has spent time in NM cherishes every drop of the chile sauce, addicting because of the perfect mix of spice, flavor and burst of vitamin C. The Green Chile Kitchen delivers on every level. When can I take a gallon to go? Pros: great chile Cons: $2 Pacificos more
