I'm a visiting out-of-towner who grew up in Santa Fe, so when I read there was a New Mexican restaurant here I had to try it out. I was surprised it was a counter service restaurant and not table service, but that was OK. Lots of seating for the amount of customers. As a true New Mexican restaurant though there are some menu items that are musts: Red Chile (check), green chile (check), sopapillas (nope), enchiladas (check, and a good NM restaurant offers flat enchiladas (check)), blue corn tortillas (check), egg on top of the enchilada (nope), posole (check). I found the red chile to be very smooth and perhaps even a touch spicier then that in Santa Fe. However, the lack of sopapillas is mind-boggling. For those of you unfamiliar with sopapillas they are the NM version of a fried dough product (think about it, every culture has one). It is a square piece of fried dough about 4 inches by 4 inches and when fried puffs up like a pillow. Proper way of eating is to tear off a corner and poor honey into the pillow. YUM!
