STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GETTING A WEDDING CAKE! My wife and I had to go with ""Great Dane"" because it was in our WEDDING package from the Patini group who were catering our wedding reception or else we would have chosen a competent bakery. To simplify all the errors we have encountered from this sub-standard bakery I have listed them in numerical order. 1). They gave us THE WRONG WEDDING CAKE!!! The biggest error any bakery can make and they did it! I would rather had food poisoning then to have the wrong wedding cake for our wedding. We went to their bakery and tasted numerous fillings and frosting and after all being AVERAGE we settle for a chocolate cake with a mango filling with fresh mangos inside and a white outer frosting. Everything else was a catalyst for type two diabetes. 2). Since it was in a package we had paid for with the catering company we DID NOT GET A REFUND. Instead our ""refund"" was a single layer cake of the right flavor which was OK but our wedding cake was THREE LAYERS not a single layer. They probably have stayed in business by not giving out refunds. Also our ""refund"" was given to us for our ""free"" anniversary cake a year later but there is another error yet to come. 3). As I stated with them you get a free anniversary cake a year after wedding date so they were still going to give us a anniversary cake since the first one was a ""refund"". So we just picked up our anniversary cake and guess what? IT'S THE WRONG FLAVOR AGAIN!!!!!!! HOW DO YOU GET THE FLAVORS WRONG TWICE??!?! It's chocolate and mango with white frosting it's not Rocket Science or even Science 101. Instead of mango it was a custard filling and it was HORRENDOUS! It's extremely sweet and the frosting was more than greasy especially since I ran the knife under the faucet with hot water and the grease from the frosting was hydrophobic and repelled all water off of it instead of melting. The cake was so sweet and inedible I just wanted to throw the rest away but the only reason I am holding on to it as evidence when I call and complain about their service and product and then I might send it back to them because I want that no where near any plates my wife and I eat off of. UPDATE: I called and left a message and never got a call back. This company really horrid and seems like they don't care about good business ethics. I would have given them zero stars but that isn't an option. Once again save yourself the headache and trouble and go to another bakery that can get simple flavors right. more

The customer service is appalling. My charge card was debited twice for the same item. I paid in full over the phone and my son pick the item up. When I checked my charge card online, that is when I discovered that the Great Dane had charge my account twice. I called and requested to speak with the manager; she was not there. The person recorded my name and number and assured me that I would receive a callback. I received no callback, so I call the next day; still the manager was not available; I was told she was too busy (name me one person that is not busy these days). more

We purchased our wedding cake from Great Dane Bakery upon the advice of 2 people. Boy are we glad we did! They were always friendly and conversational. They were very patient and relaxed at our cake tasting. We didn't feel rushed to make that all important wedding cake flavor decision! They have a great variety of cakes and frostings and fillings that are SO good! We picked the cake featured on their website named ""Topsy Turvy"". It turned out EXACTLY like the picture. So, needless to say, we got exactly what we expected. And what a unique design! We had rented a fancy cake stand they forgot to deliver with the cake on the wedding day. Not that big of deal. After our honeymoon I brought it to their attention and they were extremely apologetic. Not only did they refund the cost of the cake stand rental, they refunded the $40 deposit for stands, pillars etc. without my having to raise a stink. And another cool thing, instead of having to save the top of our wedding cake in the freezer for a year...you get to call them 2 weeks before your 1st wedding anniversary and they make you a fresh wedding top! This bakery is a great find. I've grown absolutely sick of eating rock hard pastries that are factory made from Starbucks (which run rampant in this area) and have been looking for a good famiy owned place for a long time. This is a family owned business that has a homey feel to it. The desserts are made fresh daily and sit temptingly in the glass display. Pros: Delicious; cozy; desserts aren't too sweet Cons: Not much of a coffee or tea collection. more

Hands down the best cake I have ever had! I order at least one cake a month for different events. The month of Sept I order at least four birthday cakes and October 3. The customer service although is quite the oppisite. The staff seems very put off to have to actually take cake orders and help with design questions. It is disapointing to say the least ,but again the cake tastes great and the designers are amazing. Just don't expect to get the warm fuzzy's from the staff.
