Fabulous venue, staff, attention to details! My daughter and new son-in-law were married at Gray Gables this past weekend.Barb and the crew created perfect backdrop for this wonderful day. From Barb's attention to every detail (such as the table decorations which were exquisite) to her calm management of the event from beginning to end made this day come off with ease. I am so pleased that my daughter/son-in-law chose to work with this team and the gorgeous estate that made a dream come true. more

The Perfect Wedding Venue! 8/29/2011

My son and his wife were married at Gray Gables this past weekend and there could be no more perfect venue anywhere! Genevieve and her staff had everything perfectly organized from beginning to end. The estate is beautiful, the food was delicious, the recommended vendors were wonderful. Every one of our guests had an outstanding time and raved about the entire evening! We would instantly recommend Gray Gables to anyone! more

Gray Gables is Grand! 8/19/2011

My HUSBAND and I (so fun to say that!) were married at Gray Gables on July 30, 2011. I'm going to keep this short and sweet and just say it was PERFECT. Genevieve was our coordinator and she was AMAZING. Everything was wonderful, the food was delicious, and we didn't worry about a single thing all day. So far, it's the happiest day of our lives! We would recommend Gray Gables to anyone! more

Fairy tale wedding! 6/21/2011

We had our daughter's wedding at Gray Gables on June 11th,2011 and it sounds cliche to say but it went absolutely perfect! My wife and I wanted to give our daughter a special day that she and her husband could look back on and always remember. We kept waiting for some little thing to go wrong but under Genevieve's expert guidance it never happened. She is a consumate professional who never once made us feel like just another wedding party. She was so personable; always made our daughter feel very special and was genuinely excited for all of us. The day of the wedding my wife and I were able to relax and enjoy the day without having to stress on anything because every time we turned around there was Genevieve orchestrating everything behind the scenes while always keeping the spotlight on the newlyweds. The food was excellent and all of their preferred vendors did an outstanding job. We highly recommend that you take a look at Gray Gables for your wedding!! Rick & Tracy Howard more

Perfect Wedding 3/1/2011

My husband and I got married at Gray Gables on February 19, 2011. I am extremely happy with our choice to get married there, and had a wedding that was truly more wonderful then I could have ever hoped for. Our cordinator Genevieve was absolutly wonderful. I know she has planned dozens weddings (if not hundreds), but never once did I feel like I was just a number, or like anything was more important to her then our special day. We had several meetings before the wedding and found that we could be as involved or uninvolved in the planning as we wanted. The day of the wedding all my bridesmaids kept asking why I wasn't more stressed out about everything, and it's because I knew I was being taken care of so well by Genevieve and the rest of the staff. My mother, mother in-law and bridal party were so happy that they did not need to worry about setting up the venue, or staying late to clean up (Gray Gables takes care of that!), so they were able to be relaxed as well. I could go on and on about how everything from the food to the decorations were perfect, but what I really liked was how Genevieve paid attention to little details (my favorite color is pink, so whenever she would get me a drink at the wedding it had pink straws). \r \r I really cannot say enough nice things about this venue, All of my friends were prepairing me for something to go wrong, saying those were the most special moments. I am so happy to say that not 1 thing went wrong at our wedding, so my memories of the wedding are completely perfect! more

A REALLY GREAT WEDDING! 12/22/2010

Gray Gables is a beautiful and easy place to get married. I wanted a regal, classic wedding but was unsure how to go about it. If you explain what you want to the staff they will listen and help you out in a very professional and kind way. It was very easy, I felt almost like a celebrity! When the wedding rolls around the bride and groom should not have to think about anything. In fact, my head was so far up in the clouds I couldn't think clearly at all! But the staff sets up and cleans everything. There is somebody to guide you along and make sure you're doing what you need to be doing without any stress or pressure on the big day. We took Gray Gables suggestions on a minister and bakery and were very pleased. The dinner we had was great and my guests voiced how much fun they had for over a month! And note that you can get married anytime of year here as there is an option of indoor AND outdoor weddings. The pictures turn out beautiful in such a beautiful setting. I cannot say enough good things. more

Gray Gables Estate is Wonderful! 10/25/2010

We had our wedding in July 2010 at Gray Gables. The staff was very helpful and professional throughout the planning process. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We got so many compliments on how beautiful our wedding was, the grounds, the food, etc. The Gray Gables wedding planners did a wonderful job and made the wedding planning process stress free - and made for the perfect wedding day! more

Wedding dream came true for us at Gray Gables on 10-10-10! 10/21/2010

We started searching for places and came up with a list of 7 or 8 to check out in the Portland/Vancouver area. Gray Gables was actually the second place we stopped that day, and after our first stop (which left us running for our car), needless to say we were awestruck when we pulled up. Where Gray Gables at is a little strange - it is really only a block off McLoughlin (a very busy 4-lane road), but when you pull into the parking lot, it's like you drove out into the country and left the city behind. \r \r We went up to the front where we met with Barb. She sat down with us, answered my list of questions, and seemed genuinely interested in what Skyler and I were looking for for our wedding (cute, modern, romantic...). She gave us some information to take along with us (after all, we did have 6 other stops!) Every place we stopped after that I would ask Skyler ""and how do you feel about this one?"" (knowing my heart was still at Gray Gables), and every time he replied ""I still like Gray Gables the best"".\r \r Not a whole lot happened in the following months (we booked our wedding just over a year out to make sure we got that special date), but Barb made sure to check in with us and let us know what to expect and when. About 3 months before the wedding was when I really began to appreciate our decision for choosing Gray Gables. We handled some of the details (picking a DJ, caterer, florist), but Barb handled a lot more like decorations, and making sure all of the above people were on the same page and knew what was expected of them.\r \r The wedding day forecast called for rain EVERY hour of the day, but Barb knew I really wanted to have the 4pm ceremony outside. Barb had the ballroom set up for the ceremony indoors, but when the weather seemed to cooperate an hour and a half before the ceremony, Barb had chairs set up outside as well. Sure enough, it didn't rain at all the rest of the day, and the ceremony was outside :)\r \r The reception took place in the ballroom, and although Barb had gone over the reception events with us prior to the wedding date, during the reception she was always near to let me/us know what we were supposed to do next. The whole evening just flowed perfectly.\r \r Since the wedding (all of 12 days ago), I've had several people tell me that was the most beautiful/nicest wedding they'd ever been to. I would recommend Gray Gables to anyone looking to have their dream wedding, the service really can't be beat!\r \r Sincerely,\r Michelle more

Beautiful and Romantic 9/21/2010

My Son and Daughter in Law got married At Gray Gables July 29th. I (the Mother in Law) have been to a lot af wedding's/places and this was by far the best I ever attended. Besides being Beautiful and so Romantic with all the trees lit up with twinkle lights, the staff were great too so helpful and friendly. They even set up a table for a Candy Bar my daughter in law wanted at no extra charge. Some people told me not to go there as they were so expensive. I found the oppisite, they don't nickle and dime you to death with a separate charge for every little thing like( bartender, linen, napkins, unity table, guest book table and gift table etc) it's all included in their package along with a coordinator which is such a blessing. I liked that we didn't have to do any work like setting up the tables and cleaning up afterwards. I have been to my nephews wedding where we had to clean the place first and then set it all up clean it up after including doing the dishes.\r It was a joy just to show up and it's all done for you.\r I would highly reccomend Gray Gables to anyone. more

Amazing!!! 9/14/2010

I just got married here in July and it was all that I had hoped for. I was a little worried about the price when my Fiance(well husband now...oh my god it's so weird saying that) signed the paperwork for our wedding. My sister decided that she was going to have a December wedding at some indoor center in portland that was going to cost a lot less than Gray Gables and this irked me. But then the cost of all the extras that were included in my wedding started to add up (like them charging for a bar tender, or the set up and clean up, and the chairs, ect.) I started to feel better, i know I am horrible, but I was so picky and wanted to have a stress free wedding and that is what I got. When I first met with the coordinator Barb she seemed a bit pushy and kept making suggestions that I felt were more for convience than for what I wanted, but I tried to keep an open mind. And I have to say, I was very happy with some of the ideas she came up with and she ended up being like a second mom. She was always looking out for me, and she works really hard to make the day go smooth. I can't describe how thankful I am that she was there. The whole time leading up to the wedding I kept having second thoughts(as most of us ladies do) about how the day would go and if I made the right choices on flowers, and colors, and the seating arrangements (speaking of which, I found out that when the guests were welcomed to find their seats before we were formally introduced, some of my husbands friends decided to sit at the table set up for the bridal party, they complained that the staff asked them to move. I am so glad they did, I would have been mortified to see them at the main table set up for my husband and I and our bridal party. Could you imagine being separated from the people that you have there to support you! Oh my god, it still drives me crazy when I think about it.) Any way I went off track sorry. The whole day went smooth and the staff seemed like they knew just what to do at each moment of they day. Even my photographer said he was impressed they had such good control and flow of the day (he said at some weddings the guests just wonder around and if they see the bride they go over and hang out with her and he ends up looking like an ass asking them to leave so he can get some good photos). I can't wait to see them! All my family and friends said it was the most beautiful and fun wedding they have ever been to. I am so happy with my experience and would recommend Gray Gable to any one. Also if you do decide to check out gray gables you have to sit down and talk with Barb and you will see what I mean about being like a second mom! Good luck ladies and I hope you have amazing weddings! ;) more

Speed Trap 12/15/2009

The main roan to the location is a large divided road in industrial area looks and feels like the road would have a 40-45 mph speed limit . However, randomly it changes up and down every block or so 30-45 mph. The local police use this confusion to trap all non locals. Right out the exit of Gray Gables and turn right a the little white van to the side blinks at you a block before you know the speed limit. Avoid this place unless you have an extra 300 bucks to dole out to city of Milwaukie to make some extra money Pros: Pretty outside Cons: Speed trap By local city more

NEVER EVER USE THEM!!!! 8/12/2009

When we arrived at Gray Gables for our tour we were absolutely in love. We were ready to drop every other option for a wedding venue and pay them right then and there. BOY AM I GLAD WE DIDNT!\r \r We were working to get everything organized with the contract for our special day. Of course we had questions....how much would it be to add a salad to the buffet? Why is there an extra $75 charge to bring in a DJ? What does the $750 cleaning deposit cover?\r \r The answer we got was astounding! They told us that they didn't want to work with us because we had too many questions. Too many questions!! It's the biggest day of my adult life and I'm about to drop $10k+.....of course we have questions...\r \r Needless to say.....unless you are prepared to shovel out your life savings with no questions at all....I DO NOT RECCOMEND THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!\r \r Do not be fooled by the lavish and kind tour.....it's all a big hoax. Pros: beautiful Cons: everything else! more

Attended as a guest 5/21/2009

I was a guest at a wedding in April. \r \r The outdoor seating was incredibly cramped, on horribly uncomfortable folding chairs. Even thin people had difficulty sitting together. Shoulders were touching, not to mention arms in neighbors' laps! I doubt if there were 100 people there, and it seemed impossibly crowded. Yet they claim to be able to accommodate 290!\r \r We were told exactly when we were allowed to get in the buffet line. The meat was tough. The veggies were marinated. On the other hand, the salad, bread and potatoes were good. What happened to the good old days when fruitpunch, cake and Jordan almonds were served at weddings? I miss the simplicity.\r \r The DJ was awful. The music wasn't danceable. It was too quiet to be heard to entice people to dance and enjoy themselves.\r \r During the wedding you could hear the traffic on the street, perhaps 100 feet away, through trees. Cars honking, speeding, etc. \r \r Everything was rushed through and micromanaged. As an example, we were waiting for the wedding cake to be cut, and then it was announced that married couples were required to dance. My husband and I were game, and we danced one dance. By the time we were done, the cake had been hauled away. The cake wasn't important -- just the rudeness. I then overheard the planner tell the mother of the Bride, ""Whatever. You have the hall until 2:30 to do with as you wish."" It was clear that the planner intended to have the hall cleared up, the food hauled away, and the place locked up and empty at the stroke of 2:30. \r \r Ghastly! Avoid at all costs. Pros: The bride was stunning! Lovely setting. Cons: Rude management; street noise; mediocre food more

Attended recent wedding 3/5/2009

Was at a wedding this past summer. Could not even finish eating before they were picking up plates. Felt very rushed. Cake picked up before even finishing. Lovely surroundings but felt as though hurried out. When finding out the cost I was taken back. Pros: Beautiful Cons: Rushed and unrelaxed more

Poor Customer Service 12/29/2008

As a customer I thought that I would have a staff that wanted to help. They are unaccomidating. They yelled at my Husband and my father. I thought with how much money I was paying them that they would show a little more class. I do NOT reccomend this venue to anyone, you will be dissapointed. Pros: BEAUTIFUL VENUE insdie and out Cons: staff, customer service, value, owner more

50/50 10/27/2008

As most people are saying, the grounds were amazing. The food was delicious. The DJ (Anthony) was awesome and played everything we wanted. Our coodinator did exactly that, coordinate. She was pleasant while planning the wedding. And for the day of the wedding, she was very strict, precise, and direct. She did what we paid her to do. If it weren't for her, our day would have been sloppy. She could have been a little more pleasant about it, but she was pushy. She yelled at one of my girls for her hair still being in rollers when we still had 45 minutes till the wedding was supposed to start. Also, she snapped at my mother in law, who was not happy with that. We were on a VERY strict time-line and had to follow it exactly. These instances did not ruin our day, or cause any of us to be unhappy with our choice of venue. The staff were amazing, especially Barb. She was very helpful and pleasant. The cost was too high. And I thought we should have got more for our money. Every little thing cost extra. SOOO...Overall, it was a Beautiful Wedding and i don't regret anything. I would definately recommend this venue to others. Pros: Amazing Grounds & Great Service Cons: Strict Timeline & High Costs more

beatiful facility, overpriced. Grouchy coordinator 10/21/2008

Beautiful facility, love the way everything is done at one place. You do it there way or the highway. Dont try and cut corners or your not as important as the next person. Grouchy lady coordinator. Very noticable to others. more

Everything the bride envisioned 7/25/2008

As the mother of the bride living in Alaska, Gray Gables, was the absolute perfect venue to hold my daughter's wedding. Barbara is a fantastic coordinator. I was able to enjoy being a ""guest' at the wedding instead worrying over all the details. The setting is beautiful. Food was good. Everything was very professional. My daughter originally wanted to be married in a vineyard, which would have required a lot of additional businesses and organizational stress. Having everything at one place and working with one coordinator and using the other businesses that have dealt with Gray Gables (floral, bakery, DJ and photographer) really is an exceptional value for the services. Weddings are just expensive. I highly recommend Gray Gables more

Great Experience 6/22/2008

i would highly recommend Gray Gables. Genevieve saved me at the last minute when my wedding coordinator dropped the ball and we lost our pastor; she put everything together in one month for me. My husband and I where so impressed with the professionalism and efficiency of not only Genevieve but the entire staff. the wedding events where on time and went off without any problems, i didn't have to worry about a thing. The grounds where beautiful, the food was great and the staff where extremely helpful. i would highly recommend the site. we had a evening wedding and with all the lights at Gray Gables, it was amazing. Pros: Lights, beautiful grounds, great food Cons: none more

The most elegant place to have your wedding 6/17/2008

Gray Gables was the most wonderful place to have a wedding. They were extremely helpful in every way. I could not have imagined a more professional team to work with. Very caring and worried about me having the wedding of my dreams. Anything I dreamed up, Genevieve got me. I am forever grateful to her and the staff. The food was absolutely amazing. I am not an emotional person but the extent to which they went for me makes me emotional. I felt as though I was their one and only client. If you want a wedding to forever remember and one that will got without a hitch call them. No where else will put the time and effort into making it your day. I highly, highly. highly recommend them. Pros: They are there for you EVERY step of the way! more
