The man runs a pawnshop, not a charity. Taking a cpu is a risk for a pawnshop and if he doesn't want to take it or offers you little then sell it or don't. He's not forcing you. The recession has hit us all but you're a fool to think that you are going to get more than 40-50% of what you paid for something if you paid for it and it isn't gold or silver. more

People get very upset and take it personally when we don't want their stuff. It is not personal, it is business. If something is old and outdated we don't want it because no one else does. We do our best to verify what people have and price accordingly. The fact is that there is so much different technology out there that it is possible we could get it wrong. But we are going to err on the side of caution. That may upset some people. You can't please all of the people all of the time. As far as my experience goes. I worked for a fortune 500 technology company for 9 years in high level specialized technical support. Previous to that I worked for another large company for 3 years in IT. I have been in the pawn business for 10 years and have a good deal of knowledge about many products. I am far from a know-it-all, but rather a know-a-lot. even after googling a computer CPU the shop owner comes back and lies to me about a processor spec not knowing hes talking to a person that has been working in computers for 15 years. they are clueless about dealing with computers and will lie to your face to try and cheat you. more
