Happy Baby = Happy Parents 6/16/2014

Our 10 month old daughter started The Goddard School a little over a month ago. She had never been cared for by anyone but family until starting Goddard. She has been receiving amazing care! My wife and I are so happy with her teachers and the floaters that are sometimes in the room. She is in the attachment stage and clings to her mother; however, she willingly goes to the teachers and floaters with a smile on her face. We were so happy to receive art work, yes art work at 10 months! She loves to explore with textures and we are pleased that she is given the opportunity to do these activities. \r Among other things, they have activities on a monthly basis for the families of the children who attend the school. We took advantage of parents night out which is a night that the staff works on a Saturday night for a few hours so parents can have a date night. \r This school was everything we hoped for our daughter. Her care was our priority, but she also receives the foundation of important more

Horrible School! Goddard Rockville 12/6/2013

1.0 star rating\r 12/6/2013\r \r Horrible School! Unethical Staff and worse teachers. My daughter was in her wet pee clothes three times and teacher did not even change her clothes. They only have one bathroom in most of the classrooms and twenty kids which is horrible, so your kids cant even have access to the bathroom when they need to. My child also got hurt on the playground many times, because the teachers do not pay attention. They are busy on their cell phones or chatting with other teachers. more

The owner only care the business 5/11/2012

My son has been in Goddard school at King Farm for 2 years. The teachers in my son's classes are good. One teacher is very good. However, the owner only cares his business, not kids. We were always asked for paying this and that. Most important, the owner doesn't care about kid's safety. My son had accidents with a same kid three times. The school didn't take it seriously and only gave report to us. They didn't inform the parents of the other kid who hurt my son. Therefore, the kid's parents didn't take it seriously. I brought up this issue to the owner, it seemed that he didn't know about the accident and he questioned me "how did you know we didn't notice the kid's parents". I told him that I talked with the kid's parent. Be careful with your kid's safety if you plan to send your kid there. It is not a very good place. more

Goddard Is Great! 5/11/2010

The Rockville location has a chinese, spanish and sign language program, a music program and a great art program. They employee specialized teachers in these areas - NOT just "classroom in a box" techniques that other schools use to educate the kids.\r \r They have report cards every day that tell you what the kids did around socializing skills, gross and fine motor, math, etc. \r \r They also have great special events like their recent Tumble Bus activity and an art show with a reception for the parents and kids to see all the work that the kids have done.\r \r All the kids are well behaved and well mannered- and the parents seem to be high quality people- which makes me feel good about the people my child is around on a regular basis.\r \r Oh and one other really cool thing is- parents are welcome to have lunch with their kids any time! I love being able to take a break from work and share lunch with my toddler. more

Best value and education in Rockville, MD- Hands down. 4/16/2010

My daughter is 2 and LOVES school at Goddard Rockville. She was in a home daycare with 7 other kids for a year and a half and was not progressing with her gross and fine motor skills and was extremely behind with speech. In the first week at Goddard- we saw leaps and bounds of improvement with her in all areas. This has been the best decision we have ever made for her. She loves her teachers, she loves playing with her new friends, and I love getting the daily reports on her progress each day. The facilities are incredibly clean, the playground has security cameras, new sod, the activities and toys are in really great condition, and they provide snacks for the kids 2x a day. Unlike Montessori who won't accept 3 year olds who are not potty trained, my child's education and my finances are not hindered by her ability to successfully use the potty in 6 months. The owner Ross is very engaged with the school and the students as he was giving tours of the school when I was evaluating schools more

A Great Goddard Experience 3/5/2010

We have been at the Goddard School for just over 8 months and we are extremely pleased with the quality of the School. My daughter is 3 and is thriving in such an amazing way. They teach using the Piaget Method which means kids are learning through play. Initially, I wasn't too bought into that method, but after seeing my daughter really develop in the last 8 months, I am sold on it. Of course, the teachers have a lot to do with it and my experience with the teaches is that they absolutely "get it." They get that they are there to stimulate little minds in a way that is appropriate for their ages. What I appreciate most is that the teachers give the children the proper words to deal with conflict, as well as teach them how to control themselves. We are very happy with our choice to send our child to Goddard and feel that she will be prepared for the next stage. more

Great Program 2/26/2010

We love The Goddard School at King Farm. Our son is almost three and our daughter is four months, both of them have been attending Goddard since they were three months old. We looked at several programs before settling on Goddard and we feel that we made the right decision. Goddard is definitely more expensive than other programs, but we find the quality of care and education far superior. The teachers know, love and care for each and every child. We feel safe and confident that our kids are well taken care of. more

Great curriculum, responsive staff 2/23/2010

I am not one to write reviews, but as a first time parent who struggled to find the right fit in an early childhood program I thought it might be beneficial to share my experience at Goddard of Rockville. I was recommended to the Goddard program through my brother who raved about his experience at Goddard?s Princeton location. As a resident of the Kentlands, I was ecstatic when the Gaithersburg location opened. I was fortunate enough to land an opening in their infant program and immediately enrolled my child. I LOVED the teachers, the summer program, the enrichment activities outside of the core curriculum and the amenities this location offered such as the indoor gym, brand new facilities and convenience to home, but ? we had a difficult time with communication outside of the classroom. After many months of attempting to work through this challenge, we made a tough decision to evaluate other options and chose Goddard in Rockville. We have had a fantastic experience at Godd more

A fantastic preschool 2/22/2010

My twin boys have been at the Goddard School for just over 1 1/2 years (since they were 2), and I've been extremely happy with our experience in each of the 3 classes they've been in. Quality teachers who truly care about the kids and their development. At 3 years old, I'm amazed at the progress they've made in terms of language development and early writing skills. I've had great communication with the teachers on a daily basis, whether related to successes or challenges in a given day. I've also found the owner and his administrative staff to be very open to hearing my concerns, which have always been addressed in a timely manner. I think the best sign though, is the way my boys squeal with laughter and run down the hall into their classroom when I drop them off each day, excited to see what the day will bring. And when I pick them up at the end of the day they always want to be the last to leave. A parent couldn't ask for more than that. more

Don't waste your money 9/13/2009

I had my son at the Goddard School in Rockville for 4 years. He was relatively happy at the school because of the teachers but unfortunately he had 3 of his main teachers leave while he was there - reportedly because of the owner. Ross, the owner, basically side- steps any parental concerns that are brought to his attentention. The red flags should have gone up when this expensive school needs a PTA to raise money for all of the "extra" activities like a picinic, bringing in a magician, and teacher appreciation. The passsing the buck attitude then flows down to the teachers who don't do the last diaper change of the day because the kids will be going home, don't put sunscreen on the kids (My full bottle was sent home at the end of 3 summers!), etc. I subsequently had a another child and enrolled them in a different daycare in the area. I am thrilled with my second sons' experience which made me realize how much better (and cheaper) child care can be. I feel like I wasted a lot of more

Thank You Goddard! 2/4/2009

My daughter has been at The Goddard School in Rockville for 4 years and has received excellent care and an exceptional education. The teachers are very nurturing and truly care about my child. My husband and I always say that our daughter would still be using a bottle and in diapers at 4 if it were not for the advice and guidance we received from the teachers and staff at Goddard. Being a mother who would love to be able to stay home with my child, Goddard gives me peace of mind in knowing without a doubt that she receives daily doses of love and affection (as well as needed structure, social play time and educational activities). Thank you, Goddard! more

Communication and Partnership 5/28/2008

I have been part of the Goddard School family for over 4 years. During this time my children have received excellent care. The teachers are loving and are very attentive to the individual needs of each of the children. It has been my overall experience that the teachers have provided a very nurturing and stimulating environment. On occasion, when I felt the need to touch base with the teachers or the director with regard to any issues, I was received openly. My concerns/recommendations were taken into consideration and most importantly, they were addressed immediately. I believe strongly that the key to a successful partnership is always contingent upon an open and honest line of communication. It is my opinion that this partnership is alive and well with regard to the Goddard School and its parents. My family and my children have done very well at the Goddard School and I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this school to anyone. more

Two thumbs up for my daughter! 5/23/2008

My daughter has been at the Goddard school for two years and has had an amazing experience. She began in the two year old program and will begin the year old program this summer. She has experienced 3 different classrooms with 6 teachers (2 teachers per class) during her transition and growth from the 2s, 3s and 4s and her experiences have all been positive. The teachers have been nurturing and are extremely creative in their respective teaching methods. The teachers have reinforced our family values of respect, social awareness and a desire to learn. My daughter's vocabulary has expanded significantly since attending Goddard as well as improvements with fine motor skills (control with scissors and writing utensils), more detail in drawing figures and increased focus when concentrating on an activity. She is reading on a kindergarten level because I work with her at home, however many of the basic reading comprehension concepts are reinforced by her teachers in the classroom. I more

A very good preschool!!! 5/9/2008

The school has served me very well over the 4+ years that I have been bringing my two children to the school. The teachers are very caring and my children love them. Every day the teachers bring many smiles to my children. They truly have loved all the teachers that have taught them. My oldest daughter was very well prepared by her pre-k teacher to attend kindergarten. She is thriving both academically and socially. My youngest daughter took a year to accept separating from me in the morning. But every day during that time the teacher would always be there for my daughter so that she forgot about me leaving within minutes. Knowing that my children are happy and that the school takes the safety and health of my children very seriously brings alot of comfort to me while I'm at work. I've experienced first hand situations where the safety of the children has taken precedence and I applaud the school for that. I also love that the curriculum includes two world languages and a special music more

Mixed Emotions 3/4/2008

Goddard School is great! The teachers are great and I love the children....there is always something fun going on and even though there are those days when there is 'normal' child behaviors, such as crying, taking toys, and/or just wanting to be held, the teachers in no way reflect the management. I do believe that the owner has NO IDEA what working with children is. I was walking down the hallway once and this really loving and cute child (around the age of 2, but not quite) was walking with his teacher (who is very good by the way) and as innocent as he is he ran to the owner and wanted to hug him. Well, the owner sort of held his hand out and placed it on his head, PREVENTING the child from hugging him. I was shocked and the teacher's face said it all. I could tell that she felt bad and sort of angry in a protective way, imagine she spends EVERYDAY, with this child. I mean it's just a child for goodness sakes. NOTHING to be afraid of and he was only doing what children do best. love more

Great Nursery School 12/28/2005

The Goddard School is great for kids just starting out with school. They have a wonderful, very caring group of teachers and teacher's helpers. They keep the parents very involved in the day to day activities of the kids, and even provide progress reports on what needs to be worked on. I couldn't be happier keeping my kids in this school. I'm sad that they won't be able to continue on longer, as they will be starting regular school next year. more
