Best

Im officially in love with Gladstone's restaurant in mailibu. it is so beautifull there and not only that the food is amazing too. I'm a picky person and i like me some good soup....

Worst

This is like so many places all over the U.S. Beach cities are full of these fish barns. This is one of the worst. Don't go expecting good food, service, or drinks. The only thin...

Yikes, I'll miss the food 6/16/2005

BAD Customer Service received on Sunday afternoon. I enjoy the weekend brunch and evening dinner, but, the last time I was there, will be the last time.. Pros: View, Drinks, Kid Friendly Cons: parking lot manager, Noise, Birds (dining out sid more

No, no, NO! 5/6/2005

A tourist trap of the highest degree. Poor service, high prices, low quality food. If you want good seafood go anywhere else but here. I am contantly amazed that people like to eat here. Yeah, they have a good view, but then so does every restaurant on the coast. Pros: the view Cons: Poor Service, Low Quality Food, High Prices more

Not as bad as you've been told 8/5/2004

My girlfriend and I go here often, and thus far we've been pleased with the bar and the food. I love the drinks here, and their clam chowder is very tasty. It is noisy and crowded, but the ocean view is enticing and it's a good place to casually dine on decent seafood. However, the prices are steep, and some of their fare is not worth the price. To comment on customer service, I went there with a group of 10 and was served promptly by a waitress who was very efficient. Overall, how can you expect a place that has peanut shells all over the floor to be 4 star? Don't have high expectations, and you'll enjoy yourself. Pros: Casual, Ocean View, Good food Cons: , Loud, Crowded more

Good! 2/26/2004

It isn't a romantic restaurant in the least... but great food and ambiance. The view was terrific--the sunset was pretty and we even saw some dolphins swimming. The calamari for the appetizer wasn't very good at all. Pass on that. He ordered the crab which was delicious and I ordered the tuna which came with a papaya salsa on top. Yum. Overall great restaurant. Would definitely go again. Pros: Great View, Good Food more

It is what it is - fun for visitors 2/26/2004

This is not a high brow restaurant. It does not have a glam bar. BUT - if you want a fun spot with the cheesy photo, the view at sunset, peanuts on the floor and decent food at a decent price. This is great. I take out of towners every time and they love it. Would I take a date here? NO NO NO. more

I love this place 11/7/2003

I can't believe the negative reviews I've read! I hit Gladstones at least once a month and it's always worth the drive from Silverlake. The drinks are strong, and Lobster Thursdays can't be beat, especially if you join the Lobster club. 1 1/2 lb lobster for $18?? It's a STEAL! I've had nothing but great, attentive service, both outside and inside, at all times of day. Pros: great lobster, changing menu, fun waiters Cons: backed up valet, sometimes noisy more

Gladly Avoid! 9/3/2003

Man, should have listened to the posts here! The "service" was a joke and the food was not much better - the fish tasted less-than-fresh, and had an oily sheen - unappetizing! Servers act like they are doing you a big favor by bringing your meal. Must agree with other posts - a SoCal sunset is beautiful from anywhere - in our opinion, the further away from G4F you get the better things are. Sorry. Cons: BAD Service, BAD Food more

Great place for parties! 8/11/2003

Gladstones is certainly not the place for a romantic dinner with that someone special but if you have a group of friends together for a special occasion or..... just to get together, this is the place to be. Relaxing casual vibe, good drinks, good seafood and a great place to have a loud party!! Good luck ordering dessert, I doubt you'll have room. Pros: Great for parties, Quick valet, Good food & drinks Cons: Very Crowded more

Captive Diners 8/8/2003

Make a reservation and they'll keep you waiting out on the deck or at the bar far past your time, encouraging you to drink, drink, drink. Pass on this one, view and all. The food's not that good anyway. Pros: View Cons: Waiting, Not great seafood more

Your In!!! 8/6/2003

If you trully want to Impress your better half, this is thee place to go. The food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. A little noisy but if you reserve a booth with an ocean view you wont mind at all. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Dave in CA Pros: Atmosphere, Bar, Quick service Cons: Long Line more

Sunset at the beach is great anywhere... 8/1/2003

But Here!!! Never in my life have I given a restaurant so many chances to change my opinion. Gladstones is currently 0 for 4 with me and I will never return. The service staff is terrible ,the food is average and its all way over priced. The valet was good guy though. Pros: Valet, View Cons: Service, Food, Chaos more

Best Seafood in LA! 1/15/2003

Gladstone's 4 Fish is a find for any seafood lover. Their menu offers a variety of delicious appetizers and entrees, the drinks are fabulous, and the ambience and atmosphere make you feel like you are somewhere else. Seeing the Sunset while singing "I Love L.A." is fun and memorable for even a resident Los Angelean. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends. Pros: Beautiful Views, Great Food, Reasonable Prices Cons: Birds at your feet more

Not groovy baby 9/2/2002

Nice view, otherwise food was not worth the high prices. more

Sensational ambience 8/26/2002

This is definitely my favorite seafood restaurant in town. It offers a great value, including good food, great ambience and good service. Pros: Great view of ocean, good food, good service Cons: crowded at times more

Sunset at Sunset 8/26/2002

Great stuff! We enjoyed "Susnet at Sunset." Great food and beautiful views. more

Don't Do It! 8/13/2002

There is no way I could recommend this place for anything other than possibly drinks and a walk on the beach. The food does not taste fresh and the service is generally horrific - the "servers" act like they are doing you a big favor by serving you. I suspect they would rather be surfing or they are dreaming of being "discovered" by some talent agent. With so many great options for seafood in LA, I am amazed G4F is still around. Pretty bad. Pros: Beach location Cons: Bad Food, Worse Service more

Location with Fish bones 7/29/2002

This is one of the best locations. Gladstone's needs to take the bones out of the fish. For the price many other restaurants will take out the bones. Pros: View, Location, ambiance Cons: Fish bones more

Not good 7/27/2002

We will never go back. I am amazed they have been in business for as long as they have. Service, food, overall experience are all very dissapointing. Cruise up the coast five more miles to Duke's or Pier View for a great time, better food and beautiful views. more

RIP OFF!! 7/12/2002

All that I can say is poor service, bad food and too crowded. Both locations that I have been too have been the most unimpressive restaurants EVER!! The worst service ever can be found at the Gladstones on PCH and the food tastes like something that you would sample at Costco but at Costco it would even taste better. more

YUCK 5/21/2002

Are you kidding me that this restureant is the #1 seafood resturant in all of Los Angeles...EWWWW. This resturant is standing only on it's name. The seafood is dry and over cooked, and to top it off over priced for the quality of food they are serving you. Once upon a time ago this resturant was awesome but I'm unclear what happened, maybe they changed ownership... I know of two Gladstone's, one in Malibu and the other in City Walk. Teh one in Malibu is fun to hang out at on the weekends and have a couple drinks, but I don't recommend the food. more
