Gilchrist Sausage excessive gristle 1/18/2009

Have now bought two packages of your smoked sausages, one hot and one not. The first one was not hot and I thought it was OK I thought it had a little too much gristle and or material that I would not have put in it if I had been making it myself. And I do make my own sausages from game animals. I am refering primarily to tendons and other connective tissue that is not easily chewed and probably has little nutritional value. Mostly found in the shank. I strongly suspect that is where a lot of the meat you are using is coming from (the shank). Sorry I don't have the bar code fromt the first package. I did not know I would writing to you about the next one I bought, or I would have written it down. The bar code on this one is 9374200219. I have taken a picture of the material removed from just one of these sausages as I was trying to eat it. If I can find a way to send it to you, I think you will agree it is excessive. Please advise as to how I can send you the picture. Pros: Spice was good Cons: Too much gristle and connective tissue more

The Gilcrest wrapper doesn't matter? 8/15/2007

On August 8th, 2007 I purchased 2 packages of smoked Gilcrest sausage at the Publix at Belleview Commons Plaza. The bar code number on one package is: 0 37158 20110 2. I took the sausage home and cooked it on the grill. My family usually makes sausage sandwichs. After taking a bite of the sausage sandwich, I immediately knew it was not the REGULAR smoked sausage. The sausage was extremely HOT! The package was not marked as ""HOT"". This makes the second time this has happened. The first time we just let it go without complaining. But now I must insist that the Gilcrest company know that they have a problem. My husband has diverticulosis and cannot eat the hot sausage and I cannot tolerate the hot sausage. Evidently there must be a problem with labeling and/or in the production department.\r To whom it may concern, my family still likes the Gilcrest sausage and many of my friends and family like their sausage. We would just like them (Gilcrest) to know they have a problem that needs to be fixed. more
