Best

The whole experience was breathtaking. The desserts were the best in my opinion and I will go back on that simple merit.

Worst

overrated. expensive. there was always too much of something, needs better balance with flavors. nice view...

Great atmosphere and delicious food 5/26/2011

We love George's. I think the menu is perfect and the view sublime. Some times a member of the staff is pretentious; but for the most part they are cool. more

The View, the View! 5/9/2011

Made reservations here on opentable this week for Mother's Day up in the Ocean Terrace dining. more

Amazing views 5/2/2011

Atmosphere: 5\r Setting: 5\r Food: 4\r Other: Top 10 Best First Date Places\r \r Forever views, and good food. First of all, you have a choice, do you sit downstairs and pay more, or do you sit up top, open air, with forever views of the ocean and spectacular sunsets? SIT UP TOP!\r \r When you sit up top, not only do you get the views, but you get great food and very reasonable prices. The bar offers great value and inexpensive prices on tequila shots.\r \r If you want to impress a date, this is where you take her. Don't disappoint us guys, take the girl out for a fun and romantic dinner. Lunch is nice, but dinner with a sunset is even better. more

Tough Critic 2/8/2011

Had two very good lunches at George's. The first during the week, so seating was not an issue. The seond on a late Saturday afternoon and the wait after being told 45 minutes turned into 1&1/2hrs.. Don't ask why I stayed, cause I don't have a good answer. Anyway, the place is a bit snooty and yes expensive, but we still enjoyed it UNTIL....we returned for their advertised Happy Hour. Let me tell you, this is an insult and one of the worst Happy Hours I've ever experienced. A very limited menu and forget the seating on the ""balcony"" because they won't let you sit there unless you are ordering dinner, never mind we arrived early at 3PM and the place was empty. Now tell me this going in and I don't have a problem, but advertise otherwise and I do. Lost me as a customer, not that they probably care. more

Restaurant 2/11/2010

I LOVE this place! You can get a drink on the roof & the fish tacos are amazing! Or you can have a special evening on the first floor with incredible food & service. Plan to spend some money, but its well worth it! If you can get there for a sunset it makes it even better! more

Great La Jolla Dining Experience 9/18/2009

George's is the perfect spot for late summer dinner in La Jolla. Sitting on the upper deck, you have a bird's eye view of the Pacific coast. Try the mussels for an appetizer -- excellent. The spaghetti with clams was great for dinner. If you're in La Jolla and in the mood to splurge a bit, George's is the perfect spot. Pros: Setting, Food, Drinks Cons: A bit pricey more

Great for a Fancy Night out 5/4/2009

I've only been to George's at the Cove twice- once on a date and once when my parents took me but both times Pros: I love the views and food Cons: It's expensive more

Good restaurant for a romantic dinner 4/27/2009

I like George's at the Cove but it's pretty expensive.\r \r It's definitely a "special occasion" type of place. The food is great, the service is great and if you get the right table there are awesome views.\r \r Reserve in advance on holidays like Valentine's Day.\r \r Just ate here recently and I think it's gotten even better- I'm updating to 5 stars. more

Beautiful and tasteful 1/25/2009

The view is enough to fill you up! Most seating in the upper part of this restaurant acquires full view to the entire cove, beaches, and sea. It's definitely something to see! \r Yet watch out for the angry prices! Something so simple as a salad is beyond okay for price range; I'm shocked that George's has not gone out of business for their extreme prices! more

great food for price 12/20/2008

great view. Love the ocean, decent prices. Different levels of dining for different budgets. Only downside is occaisional wait for the ocean terrace level. However, they give you a beeper and you can walk around la jolla which is always fun. more

One of my Favorite.... 12/19/2008

You have to like it...\r 1. Beautiful ocean view\r 2. Excellent service\r 3. Very delicious food\r 4. I love the atmosphere\r 5. Totally a flexible place - bring a date or family/friends to impress. :)\r You have to book it in advance. Just a day before is okay. Otherwise, you may be waiting up to 2 hours for a seat for two. more

great 12/8/2008

this was a great place to bring your date to. The view was nice and romantic, the people were friendly and most of all , the food was the best, definitely will come back if I had the chance to more

Still the best 10/13/2008

Still the best view any restaurant could have. Overlook La Jolla Cove while dining on incredible, and unique dishes. The view is excellent, but the food is also. more

Best of La Jolla in my opinion 8/22/2008

A lot of restaurants have come and gone but Georges still remains the king, as far as I am concerned. It remains our go-to place for out of town visitors, as well as when we are looking for a well prepared meal. For those who have not been, the restaurant overlooks the ocean, it is right up against it in La Jolla. Check it out! more
