On 4/2/12 we were strong armed into leaving a deposit (What you are thinking of buying today, someone thought about buying yesterday.) According to the Sales Manager Dave- a credit card refund would be refunded same day if we changed our minds. Lo and behold it has been FIVE days since we requested our money back and - yup you guessed- no refund as of yet. We called on 4/5 to ask for a refund- Dave took our credit card info and hung up without even saying good bye (GREAT professionalism shown.) I called on the 7th because it had not yet been processed and was informed by Anna the finance person that she did not see any paperwork re:refund, but assured me she would run it through that day. Today is the 9th and I cannot get anyone to accept my calls.
I am not concerned too much because I know my credit card company will handle it, but it really sealed my opinion that the people I dealt with at Brownstown are not competent.
Some of the reasons we opted out of buying were: no one could agree exactly what tongue weight of camper was- per website 324, per Dave-600 but we HAD to have a $450 weight distribution hitch (for 800 pounds), or we could not haul it home. We were concerned, because although employees there kept vomiting the words ""we are experts"" no-one could justify where numbers weer pulled from, or help us determine our trucks tongue weight- we spent HOURS researching the info and while searching we discovered that TOO large of a hitch could bend the camper trailer.
Our sales person- Craig Blizzard- who admittedly is new also told my hubby that he went in on his day off- to personally give the go ahead to prep for us, yet my hubby spoke with Dave at 12:30 to give go ahead, Dave tried to tell me it was HIM who initiated the prep go ahead.
Simple little discrepancies that do make one wonder ""what else are they lying to me about??""
By the way, if you do not heed my warning and steer clear of Brownstown General RV, at least let me give you a tip from this ""noobie trailer pulling girl..""
If you have a newer truck, the tongue weight and maximum towing capacity will be printed RIGHT ON the hitch of your truck, do NOT let General RV make you waste hours out of your day trying to locate the information, that they- the experts- apparently have no desire to share with you.
My question to them was ""ok, so you say I need 800 pound distribution hitch, you wont hook camper to it if it is not there, how do you know I am not lying about it?"" THEN I was told ""it is printed on your hitch"" UGHHHH I swear they called and asked us the max tongue weight and did NOT give us that tip then..
STEER CLEAR!!! please
I would not have even given them one star, but this review is making me... they are not worthy of my dog peeing on their lot, let alone one star!
