GBS should absolutely make some changes.
They should orient their clients to the system they're about to be processed by.
They should give each client a ticket that could be checked on online.
They should mention in their initial documentation that even if you're ready to pay cash for the home you're about to buy today they're still going to take 45 days at minimum to process your case.
They claim this is because they process homes for the entire state of Washington and have 100,000+ cases to process at any given time and they're processed in the order they're received, no exceptions.
We agreed to purchase a home from HUD for cash on May 2nd and just signed papers with a courier who came to our home today, June 14th and the actual close will probably be June 20th.
We did everything in our power to speed the process up. We tried to get GBS and BLB and HUD talking to one another and it amounted to naught.
Bottom line is, accept that this is going to be like going to the DMV on a Saturday. Accept that multiple agencies have to orchestrate, HUD, BLB, your financier, property HOA, insurance companies, the county, realtors and GBS is largely just playing the same waiting game you are while all these parties come together for the transaction.
We always found GBS responsive to inquiries. That doesn't mean they did everything right or in a timely manner but they did try to give us correct information and help us understand the process as best they could.
