I absolutely love this store! This was our pet store when I was a child. I took my son here yesterday to look around. Judy is amazing, and very compassionate with all of the animals. She let my son pet Sugarfoot (the store bunny), a guinea pig, hold a bird, feed the coy, and showed him everything neat and fun that they have to offer. She and the owner, Glenda, are both clients of the vet clinic I work at. They are incredible people as pet owners, and their personal care and love towards animals really shows. It's nice to see that Kathy is still there since she was there when I was a kid. This place has great service, toys, food, and pets (birds, fish, guinea pigs, rabbits, etc). I highly recommend them, and even people without pets should visit. It's just a fun and welcoming environment! I love everyone @ GOP!! more

I have been searching around austin for months trying to find a female dumbo rat. I called the store on the off chance they might have one. They did. I was so excited, I rushed up to meet her, and was appaled. I would have taken her just to get her out of there if I hadn't loved her. her so called cage was a small tank ment for small reptiles or fish. Rats need lots of room to be able to move around. The shavings were made of wood wich is a big no no because it causes resperatory problems not to mention that they were dirty and nasty. there was a tiny ""house"" for her to get in, but she wouldn't fit all the way, so she really didn't have anywhere to hide. She didn't have anything to chew on so her teeth were so overgrown she had bitten part of her bottom lip off. The white on her coat was yellowish from sleeping in her own urin. She was 6months when I got her, and already a big girl. The clerk opened the cage, and I nervously reached into her ""cage"". I didn't know how she would react because obviously she hadn't gotten the attention she needed. She was a little skittish, but thankfully showed no intention of biting me. I immediatly put her in her carring cage, and brought her home. The whole way home she and I spent quality time together. I opened the carrier and started scratching her behind her ears. I have NEVER seen such a contented look on a rats face before. She is so perfect in every way wich surprises me because of the neglect she received. I will never shop here again, and I warn others to avoid them as well. more

I have been a loyal customer for 9 years and feel the customer service has never been outstanding or friendly. It's never really bothered me until our last trip we were treated so rude that my 6 year old son pointed it out to me. I will be shopping for dog food and fish supplies at another locally owned store that will appreciate their customers. more

I found them because they were the only store near-by that carried the brand of guinea pig foods I wanted. I was impressed by their quality of fish and birds inside, they all were alive and looked healthy. They also have a discount program for repeat purchases and offer to help carry large or heavy things to your car. Plus, they have a talking parrot that lives in the store and is very entertaining. more

I love this place. This is a family owned business and the care and concern given are genuine. Their entire staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They go above and beyond the call of duty to assure that you are happy. \r They give free advice and often will talk you out of a sale because it is in the best interest of the pet or you! Best pet place to fulfill all your pets' needs! The staff members are all smart and helpful! Much better than Petsmart or Petco. They have a great selection of toys and other objects for your birds, dogs, cats, and aquarium pets! They ROCK!\r \r Also, if you want to buy a fish or a bird, definitely come here! The staff members care about the health of the animals and less about the sale.\r \r Pros: Great selection. Smart and caring staff. Animals seem happy and healthy there! Cons: No cons!!! more
