I have been searching around austin for months trying to find a female dumbo rat. I called the store on the off chance they might have one. They did. I was so excited, I rushed up to meet her, and was appaled. I would have taken her just to get her out of there if I hadn't loved her. her so called cage was a small tank ment for small reptiles or fish. Rats need lots of room to be able to move around. The shavings were made of wood wich is a big no no because it causes resperatory problems not to mention that they were dirty and nasty. there was a tiny ""house"" for her to get in, but she wouldn't fit all the way, so she really didn't have anywhere to hide. She didn't have anything to chew on so her teeth were so overgrown she had bitten part of her bottom lip off. The white on her coat was yellowish from sleeping in her own urin. She was 6months when I got her, and already a big girl. The clerk opened the cage, and I nervously reached into her ""cage"". I didn't know how she would react because obviously she hadn't gotten the attention she needed. She was a little skittish, but thankfully showed no intention of biting me. I immediatly put her in her carring cage, and brought her home. The whole way home she and I spent quality time together. I opened the carrier and started scratching her behind her ears. I have NEVER seen such a contented look on a rats face before. She is so perfect in every way wich surprises me because of the neglect she received. I will never shop here again, and I warn others to avoid them as well.
