Best

When I was preparing for my pictures I was so nervous. I was really concerned about having to pick my own poses and not knowing what to expect. Once I got to the studio everything...

Worst

I had a similar bad experience to some of the reviewers here. I bid on the sitting plus 1 free 5x7 at a charity event and won. Like others, I was told to bring a black shirt and...

Worst photographer in town 2/28/2009

This guy is a scam artist. He donates multiple portrait sessions to charity events and then tries to rope you into buying exhorbitantly priced packages and enlargements. When I told him I only wanted the 5x7 I bought at a silent auction, he proceeded to tell me it would take 2 weeks to get the one portrait back. His ""studio"" is hot an ddeplorable and is not good with kids. Cons: expensive, terrible people skills, con artist more

After reading these reviews I feel compelled to post my experience with Gabriel Tran Photographies which I found to be very rewarding. more

Bidder Beware! 12/12/2008

I bid on a photo sitting through a United Way auction. Made sure that I called ahead of time to get the normal sitting fee price since I did not have a computer at the time to do research about the studio. I guess that should have been the first tip off. It was over $100 for a regular sitting fee. Well, I won the bid. Set the appointment for a Saturday and we were told to bring/wear white shirts, black shirts, dark pants, and jeans with appropriate footwear. The sitting went OK. Other than some of the awkward positions that we were posed in that our older bodies did not like, the pictures did come out nice. It was nice to be able to view them immediately after the shoot - BUT then the shocker! The prices of the prints!!! WOW!!! 11x14 almost $450 and that is for only 1 print and not framed!!! I spoke to a friend of mine about it and found out, after the fact, that this has happened to numerous people. Yes, the man has talent. But so do many other photographers in town that do not rake you over the coals for your prints! But I guess that is why they call it ""Live and Learn!"" I won't make that mistake again!!! Pros: Willing to take pictures of you with your pets. Cons: Prices of Pictures more

Gabriel Tran Photography 10/29/2008

My friend recommended Gabriel Tran Photography. I saw her family portrait hanging in her home and thought it was very beautiful. I got his name and number and made an appointment. He asked the ages of the family and told us what to wear which is always such a nice thing...no stress of what to coordinate the family to wear. We got there and were immediately taken back to get photographed. I have a 2 and 10 year old and he worked beautifully with both of them to get several really really good shots. After the session we looked at the photos and were able to pick different head shot from different photos to make one really great shot. With a 2 year old you don't always get a great shot everytime so we were able to find one where 3 of us looked great and just moved her head from one where she looked good. We paid more money than we ever have on a family portrait but with Gabriel Tran you are not just getting a family photo you are getting art. more

Beautiful photograph 10/23/2008

We purchased a certificate for a free 5x7 photograph with Gabriel Tran Photography at an auction for our school. We made the appointment for the Saturday before our oldest daughter was getting married. We were asked to bring solid black and solid white shirts to wear with jeans and bare feet. When we arrived, he approved our black attire and we began the session. We had a great experience with Gabriel Tran. His mannerisms were different than we were used to, as he was very direct, but we are a fun family and we all enjoyed the session. He placed us where he wanted us and we could tell he had an artistic eye and a vision for our family photograph. There were 5 of us in the photo. One of the poses was very awkward for several of us, but he got several good shots and we had a hard time choosing our favorite. We did finally choose one that we all agreed was the best. He worked with the photo as we watched to see what the final product would look like. We spent more money that we have EVER spent on a family portrait - all the others were taken for our parish pictoral directory. When my husband brought the framed portrait home, I was amazed at how beautiful it was and how great everyone looked. I hung it above our TV and for several days I could barely concentrate on what I was watching because the photo took my breath away. I do not regret a dollar of what we spent and am so glad we have such a great photo of our family that was taken before our daughter got married. He is very expensive, he is very direct and doesn't sugar coat anything, but he is a true artist with a vision that was truly evident in our final product. Pros: great artist, beautiful work Cons: expensive more

If I could give Zero Stars I would, because it was that bad! 7/30/2008

If I could give Zero Stars I would, because it was that bad. By far the worst people skills and customer service! My fiance` and I went there to have our engagement pictures done. My best friend bought us a gift certificate (Actually after talking with my friend it was a donation to the Boys and Girls Country foundation, and my friend paid $80) for our 5x7. First of all, he doesn?t speak good English and has poor people skills, and you would think as professional photographer, one would try to work with his clients in order to get the shots you are paying such a high price for, He maybe took our picture for four minutes. We were so uncomfortable you could see it on our faces in the pictures. I asked if there was anyway we could do it again. His answer, ?NO this all you get!? We were looking for a photographer for our wedding, if this was a nice experience we would have asked for his services else where. All I wanted to do was get out of there (the studio smelled badly and he was so rude). (6/20) Pros: Nice location in the center of the city Cons: Poor people skills, smelly studio, slow return more
