Editorial review from Citysearch 12/31/2012

Horrible company and people that work there are worthless.\r I got Dish TV and got scammed into the viasat/exede internet (also called dishnet).Technically dishnet in Michigan is supposed to be hughes gen4 but it's all the same crap..\r \r Dishnet, Wilblue, Hughesnet (you name it) is all the same company now.\r \r There was no mention of the pitiful 5GB monthly limit ,the crap will not allow you to access secure websites like banks, email, I could not even use it to list on ebay.\r The internet used 3GB of data if 5 days (only checking email and 1 to 2 pages on facebook) just going to facebook prior to logging in would use 5MB. People do not buy into the GEN4 or exede bullshit, viasat runs it all ,and it is all owned by dishnetwork (do a google search). They use accelenet compression software to boost the speed to 12mbps ,yet the actual speed is only 100 to 250 KBps (thats bytes, not bits).Use a real speed meter such as networkx to see that...\r \r For example, if you go to google on normal service the browser controls the page you get. On these new ""high speed"" sattellite you get their version of the page.Originally the google page is about 40KB, they uncompress it to say 400KB (or more) and then recompress it to 10KB before it is sent over the satellite, but they count the full ""uncompressed"" file against your data plan regardless if the file was originally compressed from the website.\r \r After all the BS from Future Vision I was finally able to cancel the internet after calling Dish corporate and talking with a top level rep for over an hour.\r \r Presently I am still harrassed by Future Vision, they call in to Dish every few days and pretend to be me (100% illegal) and change my password on my dish account. I change it back and have even changed all my pins, passwords ,secret questions and they still are able to call in and mess with my account. For some reason the idiots do not know that I canceled the internet so they keep calling every week saying they have a tech scheduled to fix the internet (HAHA). They do not have any appointments scheduled, they seem to think if they can stall me or string me along that I won't be able to cancel the crap internet (that I already canceled).\r \r Dish waived the termination fees and the return equipment fees after we were all said and done. I did pay for the partial month of service, or lack thereof.....\r \r Phone numbers to this shithole place..\r 1-888-281-8383\r 1-989-715-4770\r The last number is the direct line to Brad Makenzie, the sales rep. \r Once you have a problem with future vision they will block your phone number so when you call all you get is the answering service. more

False advertising, won't answer phone calls!! 2/13/2010

So I called a few weeks ago to go with a satellite offer with these people. They offered me over the phone the America's Top 120 with 4 room DVR for only $44.99 for 12 months, plus additional fees. I approved of it, and had it installed. The installers were great people, they are locals here in Ohio hired by this company to install. Everything was professionally installed. However upon using the DVR, 2 rooms didn't work. Upon investigation, one of the boxes is NOT a DVR box. I proceeded to call them and ask them, and they acted like I had no clue what I was talking about. The guy on the phone said ""Oh no, you got TWO room DVR"" when that is a plain and clear LIE. I then spoke to the manager there, and she looked it up in the computer and said ""I apologize, it looks like you were supposed to get 4 room DVR. I will send someone out right away to get this swapped out."" A week later? Nothing. She said the installer would call us. No call. I called these people back, and continually got the runaround. Hang-ups, continually ringing phones, ""I'll connect you to another line"", etc, the works. They are blatently ignoring me. I am NOT happy with this whatsoever, especially when I have the conversations recorded on my phone confirming I was getting 4 room DVR. This is a classic bait and switch to make a deal, and I will not let this go unresolved. I will be contacting the BBB regarding this, and then a lawyer soon after and will be suing for false advertisement if this is not resolved....I'm not happy that they lied to me to make a sale, and I will not be one of the many that simply brush it off and forget about it. I love the Dish Network service, the actual Dish people were great on the phone when I spoke to them regarding a phone number change. It's just that these scammer franchise people need to be taken care of and get properly punished by the BBB. Pros: Dish Network is great! Personally better than DirecTV! Cons: This company is not! Ignoring calls and messages is WRONG! more
