I am most appreciative of the service that Tom, Frank and the other employees recently gave me when I took my car to Furrin. It is so wonderful to have someone reliable that I can depend on. It is refreshing to be able to deal with an honest shop in my time of need. Thanks guys! Great job. I will only be using Furrin from now on! more

Over-charge for labor 12/2/2011

I took my car in with a slight oil leak as we were planning a long road trip and did not want problems on the trip. The morning I was on my way in, a check engine light came on. I asked them to look at both problems. After having the car for a day and a half (and having made a 0800 appt), they called me to say that they needed to remove my after market radio in my Jetta becuase their computer could not connect to the apparatus correctly to read what the check engine light was indicating. I was skeptical but told them ok and expected an extra hour of labor at most. Turns out it was a loose battery cable (something i thought should have been noticed before the two hour $180 labor charge). The evening of the 2nd day, they called me to tell me that the oil leak was due to some bad seals and one mechanical part. I approved the repair only to find out that the parts cost $50 (only seals and no mechanical part needed replacing). The only reason I know this is because I asked for the old parts) and my bill was over $700. 7 hours of labor to diagnose a check engine light and replace $50 worth of seals for an oil leak. I think these guys are used to gouging customers because most folks who own foreign made cars have money and are too busy to get into the weeds on any repair. I will never use them again and would suggest anyone else go elsewhere as well. Honestly, I think most mechanics gouge, but it's not something we should all just readily accept as business as ususal... more

Tallahassee's Finest Auto shop! 11/14/2011

I was driving through Tallahassee when the alternator went out on my BMW. I just had it replaced in Austin, Texas less than 2 days prior. I found Furrin Auto and Frank was able to find a replacement alternator and install it very quickly. Becaus of his actions I was able to get back on the road and not have the added expense of staying in Tallahassee for the weekend. I wish we had a shop like this in Austin. Tallahassee is very lucky. Many thanks to the entire Furrin crew. more

Fixed my car after another shop tried 3 times! Awesome! 10/25/2011

I had my VW in another shop for repairs. The shop that will remain nameless tried 3 different times to fix the problem unsuccessfully. Furrin was able to fix the problem correctly the first time. Now that I have found a shop that knows what they are doing, I will only be taking my car to them. Thanks everyone at Furrin for an outstanding job! more

I recommend Furrin! 10/12/2011

The staff is friendly and most helpful, explaining repair in simple terms. They make it possible for an average income person to own their dream car by keeping repairs economical. I would recommend anyone that needs car repairs to go to Furrin. more

IF YOU ARE SMART DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE... 7/14/2011

We took our mercedes benz at this place where people may seem nice and honest, but would never go back. My husband and I must have spent over $ 6,000.00 only this year. They changed parts w/out our authorization and parts that were already replaced brand new three months prior. They were asked to diagnoze the problem and were unable. Still wec were charged for diagnozing the vehicle.... bad..bad .. bad.. more

TERRIBLE UNDERHANDED SNEAKY LIARS!!! 6/19/2011

I was told I needed work upwards of $1,000.00 after ""trying"" to fix the problem and charging me hundreds of dollars. They offered to credit me half of what I already paid them for their ""fix"" towards the $1,000+ job. I said thanks but I don't have the money I was always respectful and did whatever they said because I have no auto knowledge and they know that. I asked if there is any temporary fix they could give me for less money, they said no. So I just took my car back. Weeks later I was told about AUTO TECH and they FIXED IT for FIFTY BUCKS $50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

#1 Shop 3/29/2011

I have been taking my car to Furrin Auto for a couple of years now. They have taken good care of my baby. I have checked their prices against other shops and they were competetive. When I had a question they always explained it in terms I could understand. I will never take my car anywhere else. Thanks Brandon, Frank and Tom for the great service at a great price. more

NOT BEST... WORST AUTO SHOP EVER! 3/25/2011

Brandon works at the front desk of furrin auto and is completely rude every time I have ever dealt with him. Many of the mechanics there probably do know what they are doing but the staff in general will do whatever they can to hack up the price and take advantage. DON'T go to furrin. Find a better place. more

BEST AUTO SHOP EVER!!!!! 8/22/2010

Oh yeah! This is the place for honest, reliable, fast, and affordable car repairs, on your European cars. So I brought the VW in for an oil change, and man oh man, they got it done up in only 3 hours. I didn't know you could drill, refine, and ship oil to Lil Ole' Tally that fast. They have the best tech ever, Speed Lightning, doing the work too. OK so the best part was that they found lots of problems with the car. Better get them fixed, for safety's sake! Its a 2008 model year, so the car is well over due on these repairs. I believed every word they told me, and set up an appointment to drop the car off, get shuttled to work, and then pick it up when it was ready in a day or two. Well, I got shuttled to work late, which every boss expects of their employees. And the day or two, ehhhh why get the car back so fast? It's not like I have any where to go. It was more like 10 repair days, over two weeks, because Monday was the holiday. And the best part-- the $1400 bill!!! It's not unreasonable to ask to see the damaged parts. Oh, I needed a new tie rod? Well, show me the worn one, where the grease had leaked out like you claimed. My radiator was busted? Well, show me the leaky one. My airbag sensor wasn't talking to the PCM, ok that is kinda hard to prove, but show me the box for the new sensor, or even the old sensor. You did an alignment- What about the computer print out, showing me the car will drive straight and true? And what's this, a ""recommendation"" saying you want the car back in two weeks for, $2500 more in repairs? ""Well yeah, ma'am. You were such an easy push over the first time, we thought we would try it again!"" I won't be back. more

Good service @ Furrin 6/25/2008

I read the reviews left by another customer. The could not be further from the truth. I have been doing business with Furrin Auto for years and have NEVER found them to be dishonest. I don't think a shop could stay in business for 35 years by being dishonest. I am sorry that the other guy is such a deadbeat that hsi check bounced to these good people, and he got upset that they wanted their money for working on his car. I HIGHLY reccomend them for service. more

Slow, dishonest, expensive 12/19/2006

Due to the limited number of auto repair shops that service volkswagens in Tallahassee, I decided to take my car to Furrin Auto. At first they seemed friendly, honest, and professional. This review covers several trips to Furrin over the span of a year and a half. Cons: Slow, Poor record keeping, Not Honest, Expensive more
