Bad Fish 1/6/2009

I have been going to Fuji for 8 years, I live down the street regularly order take-out. Tonight when my boyfriend and I dined in, we not only waited an hour for our food to come out (meanwhile watching two other tables come in, eat and leave) but when our food finally did arrive, two of our baked rolls had obviously been sitting out. I have cut them slack in the past when the food was not the freshest, but tonight I chose to (kindly) bring it to their attention and was met with grief and lack of concern. The manager asked what he could do, but refused to take the items off the bill as we had asked. After offering to pay the bill in full just so we could leave, we sat waiting several more minutes while the sushi chef gave us the evil eye. With so many other (better) sushi restaurants around, you would think Fuji wouldn't risk losing such loyal customers over $25 worth of bad fish. Banned. Pros: Dynamite Roll is good (when fresh) Cons: Customer Service, Food Quality, Bubba roll not as good as Amura : P more

All Rice No Fish 11/10/2007

Fuji used to be the place to go when I was attending Rollins College. They had authentic looking wait staff and substantial pieces of fish in the rolls. Ever since the beginning of this year Fuji has unaccomadating wait staff and they serve the tiniest pieces of fish inside their rolls, there is so much rice around the rolls that it is a total rip off for your money. Why pay top dollar for 30 cent rice? I'm sorry to say that whoever took over as management has not upheld the standard that Fuji once was. Check out Hana Sushi is Altamonte Springs! Pros: Green Tea? Cons: Bad Food! more

great place to eat for sushi lovers 3/28/2007

I really don't understand what the bad reviews are for, I eat Sushi once or twice a month been to pretty much all sushi restaurants in a 50 mile radius of orlando and inside orlando, and this place is the best, its a bit crowded but I'm a huge person, prompt seating even if you don't have reservations, and the sushi is incredible, it reminds me of a traditional Japanese sushi house. The prices are good a bit lower then most places and I believe the food tastes better then the other places. and if you don't feel like sitting in a reataurant that can get crowded which means its gotta be good if its packed you can always do take out with them which takes a bit longer and is better to call in first for that because they believe sitting customers should come first which is a great idea. I've seen the management even talked to them the waitresses are great as well check up on you to see if everything is good and to see if there is anything else you need and you get your check promptly when you want to leave. out of the 50 or so times i've gone to this sushi restaurant i haven't had any issues or problems. Pros: great food, prompt service, great overall feeling Cons: lil crowded for someone as big as me, parking could be a lil better more

to tell you the complete truth 3/24/2007

i went to fuji sushi because all of my co-workers were talking about it.i was not very pleased with the small enviorment and look of fuji sushi.i was not treated very well by the waitress and it took forever to get my food even when i was seated at the bar.i love sushi places i am a sushi fanatic i have visted many other sushi places all over orlando and this one is not the best. more

Dynamite sushi is the best! 11/1/2006

If at all possible try and go to the Hiawassee location since it seems a little less crowded and the service is always faster. You must try the dynamite roll it is so different than what other places have to offer. For dessert the fried cheesecake with chocolate sauce is a must-do! Pros: Great sushi Cons: Winter park location has very slow service more

Excellent food and experience 10/1/2006

We dined at Fuji Sushi on a Sunday night. No problem getting a table or being seated. The restaurant was busy but not crowded. Ordered drinks, later ordered appetizers and entrees. Appetizers appeared promptly and entrees appropriately later. The chirashi Sushi was absolutely amazing. The largest portions I have ever seen. I have had sushi in Virginia (where I live), San Francisco, and Tokyo and Fuji Sushi was as good or better than I've had anywhere. Our server was from Japan and she was delightful. Pros: Excellent food - very large portions Cons: Tables are somewhat close together giving the restaurant an overly crowded feel more

Best Sushi anywhere 6/17/2006

Best Sushi I ever had, very friendly, responsible and it's shows . Call ahed for resarvations, very fresh, large portion & good price Pros: Thumbs up more

Wear a raincoat 3/29/2006

always crowded -perpare to wait - TWICE had food dumped on us. First a server tipped a tray serving someone at the sushi bar (our table was right next to it) and we were splashed with sauce, clothing, then another server slipped in what the other one hadnt cleaned, went hard down on her knees - lost a huge order of Sushi which backed the whole kitchen up- food went flying everywhere-as a result the kitchen backed up, our incomplete order arrived 45 min later. waited for the check too long & had to go get it. Crowded to the point of danger, it must be over occupancy limit - far too little space between tables in the sushi bar area. Wear raingear - take knitting, crossword puzzle books, tax forms, etc never did we see an owner or supervisory presence - we wont be back - Pros: good sushi, winter park, okay prices Cons: crowded, small, bad service more

BEST SUSHI IN ORLANDO!! 3/8/2005

I no longer reside in Orlando, and the thing I miss most is Fuji Sushi. Fuji has some of the best sushi I have ever found. If you decide to eat there you should definitely try the Beef Tataki as an appetizer. It's the best I've ever had. My favorite roll is the Polar Bear roll. The Spicy Tuna roll is out of this world. Pros: Phenomenal Sushi more

NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!! 7/8/2004

Fuji has been the up and coming name around town for sushi...knowing that, I gave the place a try.Upon arrival, I was not only ignored by a passing server but was later sat at a dirty table. The servers were not hospitable and knew nothing about their jobs. I ordered a variety of items from the menu(rolls, aps, sushi, sash).Lets just say..FRESH is not a word they use.The fish was old...and the rolls were covered with all types of sauces!!If you want traditional....don't go to Fuji Sushi. Pros: Affordable Cons: , Food not fresh, Bad Service more

Outdoor dining? 2/29/2004

The service is not great inside. The food is average at best. I can't believe that this place is rated so high especially in the "Outdoor Dining" catagory. They don't really have outdoor dining, and it sits directly on Lee Rd., dusty, no view, 6 lanes of traffic. I think someone is stuffing the ballot box with this one. There is no way this would get any points for outdoor dining. more

Not bad, not great 5/20/2003

I come from San Francisco and therefore am judging it by what I get back home. The pieces are big, they have lots of rolls, and the price is reasonable. However, the quality of the fish is so-so in that it lacks flavor and it could be more tender. All in all, a good deal. I'd eat there again if it was closer by. more

Great Value 3/18/2003

Excellent quality for the price. Size of fish on sushi is huge. Unagi was excellent. The sushi combos on the back of the menu are the best values. Service was a little suspect though. Would eat there again. Pros: Inexpensive, Unagi Cons: Service more

Large portions, but the fish isn't fresh 2/18/2003

Well, this might just be a bad night for them. The fish was not fresh at all. Some of it I wouldn't even finish. However I've never seen a place with such big portions, the cuts of fish were enormous. I've never had a place where I had a tough time fitting one piece of sashimi in my mouth. Too bad the fish wasn't fresh. Pros: large cuts of fish, nice decore Cons: wait staff very slow, fish not very fresh more

The best... 1/2/2003

This by far is the best sushi in Orlando. I've not found a better place to get sushi. Pros: Fresh Sushi, Inexpensive more

FRESH!!! 5/19/2002

This is the best sushi in Orlando. They have the freshest sushi around. Everything is delicious! This has become quite a popular place, so make sure you aren't in a rush when you get there. OUTSTANDING! Pros: fresh, good parking, atmosphere Cons: crowded more
