Bad Business 7/29/2010

I was given a 50 gift certificate as a gift in March 2010 I decided to go have dinner with friends last night July 23 2010 and was informed that the gift certificate was not going to be honored for the 50 but that I could have 25 percent off our meal. However we were charged a 20 percent gratuity for our party of six. The service was slow and the cook was rude. We will not be back sorry fuji you just lost 6 customers were visited often. more

Disappointing Experience 7/17/2008

My mother-in-law was in town and wanted this style of a restaurant so we went to Fuji. Our hibachi grill seated 8. There were 6 in our party and another couple joined us. First I will say the food was great but with the right ingredients you can have great food anywhere. I was disappointed in our cook who didn't chat with any of us. I also asked him if he had ever been to Japan and he said ""yes"" so I asked him about something I ate in Japan once. He laughed and said, ""I lied....I've never been to Japan"". There was no show like most places put on, and the prices, I felt, were high. I got the cheapest plate, the shrimp plate, and it was $17.95. Even though mother-in-law paid for it, I don't think we'll go back. It also sets in a storefront instead of being a free-standing restaurant. Pros: great food Cons: storefront restaurant, no ""show"" at the table, boring cook, high prices more

After last night, I will no longer be a customer. 2/18/2008

We went to Fuji on Feb. 17th with about 15 other people. When we arrived, they told us the room we requested would not be available. This wasn't a big deal for our group, so we were seated in the sushi bar area. We were there almost 30 minutes and our waitress hadn't come over once. Finally, someone found her just so we could order drinks. She was rude from the beginning and seemed like she didn't want to be there, but we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Then she began to take our orders and decided to only do part of the table at the time. Some people at the table started to get their food, and others hadn't even had the chance to order. After half the table got their food and I still hadn't been able to order, I went to talk to the manager. Well, the manager wasn't there and the hostess was the manager on duty. I walked into her talking to my server, and my server pointed me out and called me ""the b****."" After I saw this I told the manager we needed to see her at our table. She came over and blamed the service on a ""language barrier."" I informed her that everyone at the table is either a manager, server, or cook in a restaurant and we understood that it was difficult to work a party of that size and maybe her server needed some help. And the manager replied, ""What she needs is for you sit down and stay in your seat."" I mentioned her calling me a b****, and her response was, ""I know."" Not a sorry, nothing. We finally order and all had our food. As soon as she could clear the table, she brought our checks. Also, she gave us seperate checks for every drink we ordered. So between my husband and I we had to sign five seperate credit card slips. One for each drink, and one for dinner. At the end of our meal, several people asked to talk to the manager and ended up talking to Chris the ""owner."" He was also unapologetic and did not listen to any of our concerns. I will never return to Fuji and hopefully this will save others the horrible experience I had. Cons: Horrible Service, No Guest Appreciation. more

Sneaky Billing.... 2/6/2008

My two friends and I went to dinner here and as is normal for a hibachi grill, we were placed at a table with five complete strangers. When our bills came, I noticed it said gratuity but for some reason I was thinking it had on the bill a guide to show you how much to tip the server. OH NO. The next day my friend called me and notified me that we were charged gratuity for parties greater than six!!! That, to me, is very shady. Pros: Excellent food Cons: watch your bill to make sure charged correctly more

THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING!!! 8/29/2007

I went to Fuji for the first time with a friend of mine who said the sushi was good. The sushi was alright but my experience was less than great. I ordered a roll and when I poured the soy sauce, a fly was in the sauce. I told the waitress who apologized, and she brought me another peice of the roll that I already dipped in the sauce. She then questioned whether or not it was an actual fly. She said at first she thought it was a different insect, and then she said when she was pouring it out it was a mushroom. It was definetly a fly. Although it crossed my mind to call management I let it go because the food was so cheap, but I will NEVER GO BACK TO FUJI AGAIN. NO, they did not offer to make the meal be ""on the house"", showing the lack of respect for the customer and the lack of respect for the restaurant itself. Anyone who is considering going somewhere where dead flies may be in the food needs to reconsider and go elsewhere. Pros: nothing. dont go. dont waste your time. dont waste your money. save your appetite. Cons: the fly. poor service. rude waitress. more

four out of seven rolls were wrong ingredients - check your rolls 1/21/2007

Traditional japanese steakhouse (chef cooks meal in front of you) 10/30/2006

Was a bit disappointed with our experience as the chef that prepared our meal at the table didn't do any of the flashy tricks that we have experienced at other restaurants around the country. You are paying a premium for the experience of having a chef cook right at your tableside and I feel that the chef should justify this by adding entertainment value (even chain restaurants such as Benihanas have flashy slicing of the shrimp, creating a ""volcano fire"" out of a large onion, etc). None of this was done for our dining experience (standard cooking that can be seen at numerous hibachi grills at many buffets in the area). Food was average in taste/quality. Pros: Nice for date/special occasion where chef cooks meal at table side Cons: Higher price does not reflect in "showmanship" of chef. more

The food rocks 2/13/2006

Ok, the downside-They were understaffed, so out waitresses were alittle scattered and forgetful, but very friendly & polite, regardless. They also won't seat a party until everyone is present. The upside-The Food! The Sushi! The Scallops! The Plum Wine!A wide variety of sushi rolls for the newbie to the sushi lover. The steak was moist & well seasoned, the shrimp was plump & the dipping sauce was very savory. The scallops were really a highlight. Firm, well seasoned and oh so yummy fresh. Even our Banana Foster was a delight. It's worth the price twice! Pros: Generous Servings, Wonderful seasonings, Friendly Staff Cons: Understaffed more
