The Restaurant is very cute but like so many other reviews I feel its was a bit overpriced, and lacking in so many ways. I would give it another chance though.... Has anyone heard...

Editorial review from Citysearch 6/12/2013

Food was amazing! The green chile cornbread is to die for! Service was great, very prompt and always filling water but never annoying. The server Kevin was amazing! Love the fact that the owner works and walks around to the tables. Love this place!!! more

Excellent food, lots of character 3/14/2009

Five of my colleagues and I recently enjoyed an outstanding dinner at Fuego Bistro. Starting with cocktails, the sangrias (both white and red) were excellent. We also loved how the table was set with pottery chargers and tin menus. Each course was wonderful. I especially enjoyed the crab cake appetizer, pernil asado, and the creamed corn. \r It's definitely in a modest neighborhood and has a humble-looking exterior; polar opposite of all the Scottsdale flash. But once you're in, it's quite charming, especially after dark.\r We're putting this one on our regular rotation. If you enjoy small, local restaurants with lots of character, this is the perfect choice for you. Pros: Sangria, attentive staff more

Worth the Hunt - Truly Great Find 9/23/2008

Moving to Phoenix from San Francisco we have been missing the wide variety and caliber of restaurants SF offers. Bistro Fuego ranks right up there with the best of the small SF restaurants. Six of us shared a number of appetizers that were all fantastic then moved onto individual entrees that were all unique, flavorful and seriously bountiful. Despite being stuffed at this point we still went for splitting some deserts and these too were very good. Combine the food with excellent drinks and top notch service and you have yourself a real gem of a place. We'll definitely be back more than once. Pros: Great food, drinks and service Cons: Bit tough to find more

Great Food and Service 8/16/2008

A little hard to find, but once you are there, you will love the food and service. Reservations is a must with such a small seating area.\r \r Only negative was the ""Prawns"" dish, my wife expected Prawns, but they were just reqular size shrimp! Cons: Small Venue more

Some of the best food in town.. period.. 6/29/2008

I belong to rewards network, and on their website, Fuego had the best reviews of anyone in Phoenix, and they had over 150 reviews to date, I also checked their Yelp rating, and it seemed to be in line, then went on citysearch, consistent great reviews... This place is unlike anything in Phoenix... They are really tucked away in a little courtyard behind Appollo's.. They have like 7 tables, but they also have a real strong patio... So for abience.. it's like way cute and has tons of urban charm.. First of .. quite possibly the best sangria in town... better than lola's, ticoz, or barrio... just had real unique flavor that tasted diffrent than most... second.. the food.. read a couple of reviews about portion size.. now I don't know if a couple of these reviewers are used to going to sweet tomatoes or Ponchos mexican buffet, but you are smoking something if yuou think these portions are small.. in this price range.. potions actually get smaller, but the quality gets better.. no, it's not cheesecake factory sizes, but when compared to Fuego's competition..(Barrio, Padres, Sierra Bonita, Coronado cafe) their portions and prices were right in line, not to mention better food, one of the reviewers refered to it as spanish food, which this isn't so what do I know? I think this place has a ton going for it.. fntastic food, great service from true phoenix urbanites, and to me, atmosphere that is unmatched in the city....It is really hard to find restaurants that have that untangable component of doing something unique... Fuego has metal menus, a querky, eclectic feel, REAL POEPLE working there that actually look like they enjoy working there, If your looking for cookie cutter, this place probably isn'r for you, but if you like seeking out diamonds in the ruff, Fuego Bistro is an awesome find... Pros: The 3 big ones... Food, ambiance, service Cons: Not enough food? just kidding! more

Not my fav. 5/9/2008

The Restaurant is very cute but like so many other reviews I feel its was a bit overpriced, and lacking in so many ways. I would give it another chance though.... Has anyone heard of Aiello's on Central and Colter OMG Great food, not overpriced and such a nice friendly staff. Its new but its destined to be a hot spot in Phoenix more

Decent for the lack of Spanish choiuces in Phoenix. But small entree sizes. 5/2/2008

I know that tapas restaurants are famous for their ""small plates"" mentality, but this is a little too pricey and chintzy even that considered.\r A little too expensive for the amount of food they serve. But my wife and I like to come here since there are not many Spanish food choices in Phoenix. Granted we were spoiled living in Tampa as long as we did, and had the best Spanish food in the U.S., but Fuego is decent. And far far far cheaper than the place in upper Scottsdale that is like 40+ a plate. That is just stupid to charge for food as simple as Spanish cuisine. Give us more serving sizes here and you guys goto 5 stars!!!!!!! Pros: Great ambiance and very romantic place to go. Highly recommend for dates Cons: Too pricey---seem disappointed in value every time we leave here. more

Deliciousness and Great Service! 3/9/2008

Deliciousness! The service was excellent! The owner was on out the floor - serving and interacting with the customers...gotta love that! He also gave us suggestions for apps, meals, and drinks - all were perfect! The pork was out of this world and the desert, a fried banana burrito, was divine! Reservations are highly recommended. more

Best LATIN food in town!! 8/11/2007

man oh man!\r \r I absolutely adore this restaurant. \r \r As a native new yorker, trained chef, and descendant of Puerto Rican and Dominican parents, I consider myself to be somewhat of a food snob, especially when ""criolla"", or ""puerto rican specialty"" is written next to anything. This place definately exceeded my ecpectations. The flavors are spot on, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service is always great! \r \r I love that they also play latin music (such as celia cruz, and i think i heard the mambo kings soundtrack also playing) in the background, its not loud or annoying either. \r \r I would definately recommend this as a date spot. Pros: the food is fantastic! Cons: a little hard to find Palo verde drive more

My new favorite restaurant in central Phoenix! 3/15/2007

Great menu and the food is fabulous! Had dinner with friends who were in from San Francisco (food snobs, right?) and they loved it! Returned for lunch and it, too, was great. If you're ready for a local, quaint, flavorful restaurant, you should try Fuego Bistro. We're regulars! more

Food that looked so good it was a shame to eat it! 2/17/2007

""Wow - the food was so amazing I nearly cried when I finished my plate. It was so tasty and fresh that the flavors held my taste buds captive for hours after the meal had ended"".\r I have been to Fuego Bistro twice over the last two weeks (after a friend recommended it to me) and will be going again tonight, not only for the food and the latin vibe of the family-owned bistro itself, but for the beautiful redhead that works behind the bar during the week.\r \r My recommendation is to visit Fuego Bistro with an empty stomach, because you'll want to finish every last morsel they serve you. If you appreciate fine food, you'll appreciate what Fuego Bistro offers the diners of Phoenix, which is a culinary experience your senses will never forget. Pros: Everything. Cons: It's small and can get crowded on special occasions. more

Great Service, and a very quaint atmosphere 1/19/2007

We dined at Fuego about 2 nights ago, this restuarant is fantastic! The service was great, and the food was top notch. We especially enjoyed the flourless choc torte! We will be back in Patio weather for sure! more

great variety menu and wonderful flavors 1/14/2007

Our first visit to Fuegos was a very pleasant surprise. I had never experienced Cuban cuisine and I was really taken by the wonderful flavors, especially the soup. The empanadas were another winner , as was the jicama slaw. I will definately order them again. Everything about this quaint bistro was positive. We are looking forward to taking our friends there soon. I give it a 10+. Pros: wonderful menu and flavors, friendly service Cons: hard to find, small inside seating, but great patio more

Great outdoor dining 1/13/2007

My husband and I had a great dining experience here last week. They have one of the best patios in town, it is a very small restaurant, but it has lots of character.. Our dinner was outstanding! We will be back for sure. Pros: a great all around dining experience! Cons: Make a resewrvation! more

The Pernil Asado will haunt your dreams 1/13/2007

The Pork should be illegal it is so good, and tender.... and the empanadas made my New Years resolutuions diet a passing fad... This might be one of the best neighborhood restuarants in the city. The vibe and food will make me a constant repeat offender of this swanky little joint... Pros: The Pernil Asado might be the best prok ever... Cons: The Pernil Asado might make me 400lbs by Memorial day... more

Best example of latin fusion food in the valley! 1/10/2007

My experience at Fuego was awesome.. the service and the atmosphere is a 10! The food has a latin feel, but evrytthing that we we tried rivaled the best restaurants in the city! This restaurant would be tops on my list for a romantic dining spot, and the patio is one of the best outdoor dining spots in the city... I would highly reccomend this spot to anyone looking for a great dining destination! I would put this restaurant on par with Barrio or Richardsons's any day... It is quite small, only seven tables.. but they take reservations, but if you are looking for a unique, quaint spot for am experience.. this is it... We will definetely be back!!! Pros: Perfect mix of ambiance, food, and service.. Cons: It's small.. call ahead!! more
