Best

Perfect place to sit down and have a drink on a nice day.

Worst

Save your money & effort. This place is no good. They first served us a frozen drink & then 30 minutes later refused because they were ""too busy""!!! I will never go there again ...

Bring your sunglasses! 9/8/2010

Great Happy Hour Spot 6/25/2010

I love coming here for happy hour! Most outdoor bars are sort of unbearable on humid, summer days. This one is right on the Hudson, so the breeze off the Hudson helps cool you off. The view form the upper level is amazing! more

Sunset is a MUST! 5/25/2010

Great little spot to come for a late after noon bite & drink in the warm weather. Bring a friend! more

Great Views, Food & A Little History Too 4/15/2010

Great city location for summer fun. Food is delicious and always fantastic people watching spot. Get aboard an old boat or in an old train car. Lots of fun!!! Pros: Everything more

Best place to spend the summer 8/13/2008

Frying Pan on the West Side rocks! I went there for an event recently and was wowed by the amazing views of the Manhattan skyline. It's a great place for a date, or just to hang out and have a drink with friends. Some of the drinks were a bit overpriced, and it's a pain to get to (all the way on the West Side Highway and 26th) but it's definitely one of my top 5 spots for summer. Pros: Something different, city views, unpretentious/laid back crowd; location Cons: Location; overpriced drinks; kids and dogs more

Finally OPEN again!!!!! 7/5/2008

Hi - I am a bartender at the Frying Pan, and I just wanted to let everyone know that, as of July 4 2008, we are finally back open!!!!! A slightly different location - we are now located approximately 3 blocks north of our old location - our pier is #66a, at about 26th Street on the Hudson River. Let the fun begin! more

Good open air bar with casual fun atmosphere. 4/23/2007

This is a great place to go when the weather is amazing, and summer is in full bloom. I wouldn't say that it is the best place in the city, but the drinks are cheap, and you can hang out outside with plenty of space to walk around. The crowd is definitely not a Manhattan kind of crowd, and that can be a welcome relief sometimes. They often have interesting concerts, and dress is usually pretty casual. Go in loose clothing and casual shoes, and relax and dance with the band. Pros: Fun and a little different. Cons: Usually slow service at the bar. more

Worse Service in the City 8/12/2006

Save your money & effort. This place is no good. They first served us a frozen drink & then 30 minutes later refused because they were ""too busy""!!! I will never go there again & you shouldn't even try. The people there are no good. Pros: great views Cons: staff is no good more

the best pirate ship! 7/27/2006

this is my fav spot in nyc! the food is fabulous and you get to watch the sunset on a pirate ship. what could be better? o that a pirate actually hangs out there.. and yes that happens! if you go on a night where there is a smirky bartender who wears his sunglasses at night, watch out. His bartending skills are lacking, but you wouldn't know based on his super inflated ego. The other bartenders are great! there is always LOTS of seating. Go and have fun matey! ARRRRRR more

A hidden treasure. 9/7/2004

I love Pier 63 and the Frying Pan. I've been living in NYC for many years, but somehow I haven't come across this barge (not really a pier) with 2 antique boats (The John Harvey and The Frying Pan.) Last year my friend had a wonderful wedding here, probably the prettiest one I've ever seen. Since then I've been a regular. During the warm months there's a bar and grill, serving simple and affordable drinks and basic food. It's a joy to grab a few beers, a greasy burger and to climb up one of the FP's decks watching the sun set over NJ. A great place to bring guests and to throw casual parties. Pros: Location/Atmosphere, Inexpensive more

Book this Place at Your Own Risk 8/17/2004

Tried booking a party there recently and was literally shafted!! Despite numerous phone calls and two face to face meetings in which we verbally struck a deal, I was given the run around for a few days and finally the management reneged on the agreement in such a rude and egregious manner. I do not recommend booking this place because they are unprofessional, lack manners and most importantly they will leave you hanging at the very last minute. Dont' do it. It just isn't worth it! Cons: , Booking is High Risk more

Pier 63/ Frying Pan? .... NEVER AGAIN! 8/17/2004

Tried booking a party there recently and was literaly shafted!! First of all, the quote cost was constantly increasing. In fact, they could not keep their story straight to justify the increases. Despite numerous phone calls and two face to face meetings in which we verbally struck a deal, I was given the run around for a few days and finally the management reneged on the the agreement in an incredibly rude and egregious manner. I do not recommend booking this place because they are unprofessional, lack manners and most importantly they will leave you hanging at the very last minute. This is not the kind of environment that one should host a gathering. Don't do it! It ain't worth it! Cons: , Unprofessional, Waste of Time more
