A new owner with some style.... 2/16/2012

The French Loaf has been in Grandview as long as I can remember, and the products and service has been well received by most. Well, a new owner has taken on the bakery this past year and he's made some improvements to what was already a great local destination point. When asked what is you main focus, he stated “continue to give the residents of Columbus the same great flavors and creativity they are accustomed too, but spicing up the presentation a bit.” We see that already in the short time he’s owned the bakery on W 5th Ave. Thanks for keeping it local and flavorful! more

Terrible!!! It deserves NO STARS!! 11/30/2011

I ordered a cake from here for a party I was having. It looked beautiful but when we tried to eat it, yuck! The cake was dry and the frosting tasted like they had just mixed some sugar and water together in a bowl, slapped it on and called it icing. \r No one could even eat it. When I called to voice my displeasure because the cake wasn't cheap, they could have cared less. Very disappointing. I will not be back. I'll buy a cake from a grocery store before I'll ever visit here again.\r more

Awesome carrot cake and awesome service! 7/29/2011

Wanting to put the finishing touches on a surprise party for a dear friend, I called to order a carrot cake. Needed it for 12, so had to be specially made. Even though I provided very short notice, Ann promised she'd check with the baker and call back. Voila -- in a little over 24 hours I had a beautifully decorated and absolutely delicious carrot cake that was loved. I appreciated the great service and exceptional quality! more

A new weekend tradition for us... 7/29/2011

Since moving to Grandview and finding the French Loaf, we have made this a part of our weekend tradition. It's nice starting the day at French Loaf with a nice cup of coffee and cinnamon roll and well as a danish. The cupcakes were okay but we have only had them once. more

Best Cake in Town 12/4/2009

If you go to this bakery, get the Dewey's Torte!! Dewey's Pizza is right down the street and they get all of their desserts from local bakeries. A large group of us ate at Dewey's and 4 of us girls shared the Dewey's Torte cake. It is a chocolate layered cake with chocolate and white mousse and fudge. The four of us LOVED it and you can order an entire cake for $23.95. Needless to say, we've already ordered one for our next get together. more

Amazing Cinnamon Roll & Great Coffee 6/19/2009

My fiancée and I walked in to French Loaf while we were walking along 5th Ave. We were waiting for my car to get finished being repaired at the nearby Tuffy and saw the store and thought we would go in - we had never been in despite that we must have unknowingly driven by it 15 or 20 times (it is set back from 5th a little). I got a Raisin Cinnamon Roll and a medium coffee (ended up trying both the hazelnut and french roast flavors). My fiancée got an apple danish! My cinnamon roll was amazing and I will definitely be going back for more of them. Thanks. Pros: Friendly, good atmosphere, great food! more

DO NOT BUY A CAKE FROM THIS BAKERY 6/1/2008

If I could give this bakery no stars I would. I recently ordered a ? sheet cake for my brother in-law?s graduation (he was coming in from out of town and I did it as a favor to my mother-in-law). I was beyond disappointed, so much so that I decided to right a review. \r \r When my mother in law came in town and we picked up the cake, she literally fell out of the bakery. The cake was a staggering $85 for what they claim was a ? sheet cake (but looked more like the size of a football field). The cake itself looked fine ? which it should for an additional $15 to decorate, but was mediocre at best. I am a huge fan of cake and will eat just about any kind - professionally made, boxed, what have you, but I could barely choke down half a piece. So not worth the calories - the frosting tasted like twinkie filling ? not the good frosting you expect from a professional bakery, and the cake was just okay. We might as well have picked up a grocery store cake ? it would have been a heck of a lot cheaper and probably tasted better. Bottom line ? the cake was bad and grossly overpriced. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Pros: good location Cons: the cake - way overpriced and mediocre at best more

Great Lunch Option! 6/7/2007

for around $5 you can get a tasty sandwich made in front of you, to die for soups, or a combo of the two. I prefer the basic chicken salad on a criossant, and the croissants are just as buttery and flakey as they look. Also everytime I go in I swear to myself I won't get dessert but I lose every time because they're just that good. French Loaf has never dissappointed me ^_^ Pros: Fast service, friendly staff Cons: parking is limited more

Loved it... 10/16/2002

I understand that as of May '02 it's under new ownership. I have been in several times and received great friendly service. The desserts are delicious!! Will definately go back again and again. more
