A Wonderful Free Experience 10/31/2006

I watched 2 or 3 of the light shows and it is an amazing display. It makes a very pleasant evening - watch a couple of the musical shows, take in a nice buffet, watch another show or two. Much more relaxed than the busy strip atmosphere - more 'down-home'. Stroll through a couple of the stores and pick up some trinkets for those at home. Not a must-do on every trip but a must-do at least once! more

Great for kids 6/18/2006

..and a great place to get affordable water. It's definitely not for those looking for that ultra-lounge experience, as on the strip. pleanty of eatiereies, coolrelics of vegas' past, and the friggin Golden nugget is there for Pete's sake. Check it out, then continue down fremont to the Beauty Bar for a stiff drink. Hopefully there'll be a cool band out back. more

Remember the light parade at Disney Land 4/24/2006

I do. I was little when it disappeared. Fremont Street is neat because of the crafts and performers and shops and excitement. Here you'll find the old Vegas hotels and the Neon Museum. The parking is underground and validated. This IS a big city however. There are no entrance barriers so be prepared to deal with street people, beggars, and travelers of every description. Pros: metro promenade, grittiness, entertainment value more

Fremont Street Experience 6/7/2003

I thought is was great, can't wait to go back in November, 2003. It's a show you just have to see with your own eyes. Awesome! We will go back again, and again and again. Loved it. Pros: Great Show!, Good People Watching, Free Cons: beggers more

Fremont Street is Great! 3/27/2003

Imagine a shopping mall type of experience with just about every vice you can think of within a 5 block area. Gambling, drinking, eating, sex...its all right there. If you want a great time for less than half of what it costs on the strip, then pick a hotel downtown and live it up. There are great places to stay like The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Plaza and The Las Vegas Club. Don't forget Binion's Horseshoe either. Oh, yeah, love those shrimp cocktails at the Golden Gate and the Girls of Glitter Gulch! Fremont Street is the place to be for the best time in Vegas Pros: Gambling, Drinking, Girls Cons: None more

GREAT IMPROVEMENT 3/10/2003

I LIVED IN LAS VEGAS PRE- FREMONT EXPERIENCE AND THE DOWNTOWN HAS NEVER BEEN MORE INVITING. WHEN I VISIT NOW, IT'S NEVER WITHOUT A STOP DOWNTOWN TO SEE WHAT'S NEW ON FREMONT STREET AND WATCH THE SHOW Pros: FREE, CLOSE TO CASINOS, WALKING DISTANCE Cons: DOWNTOWN IS DIRTY, CRIME / VAGRANTS more

Awesome 1/14/2003

I thought Fremont was really cool to visit. I actually went down there twice when I was visiting in Las Vegas. Fremont has a lot of neat little stores. I actually bough a lot of my family's souveniors down there. There were at least 3 bands that were playing, which kept the partying going. I had the best sandwich in my left down at Fremont. Oh, and there was a really cool artist down there. I sat and watched him for at least an hour. If you are every planning to visit Las Vegas, I would definetly visit Fremont. I had a blast both times. Pros: inexpensive, Lights Cons: location, parking more

Fremont Street Mis-experience 12/19/2002

Covering over the infamous street, seems almost a sacrilege. During the day, the "roof" is ugly and at night the "show" is annoying. The music is always too loud for an enclosed space. The cover takes away from the glitter and awesome-ness of the original neon. The cowboy seems to have to "duck" under the roof and the Glitter Gulch girl seems subdued. What a shame to ruin it. more

That was an experience? 12/18/2002

This is the kind of thing you do once, if you see it too many times you'll get fed up quite quickly. In the evening every half hour or so the outdoor ceiling has a video/light show with background music, there are lots of shopping Kiosks in the middle of the street plus all the older, smaller casinos in a 4 block area. There is now a small mall and multi-screen theatre at one end and several souvenir stores and bars squeezed in among the casinos. Live bands play occaisonally and one night there was a Christmas show for the kids with people dressed in costumes near the big Xmas tree. This can all be fun but if you're staying in the area it can grate on the nerves after awhile. I feel sorry for anyone who's hotel room actually faces Freemont Street. Pros: 1 time fun, everthing close by Cons: Loud, repetitive more

Take your chances.... 12/9/2002

The shows are neat and different, but it is so hard for the casinos downtown to compete with those on the strip! This is one of those things that you go to once, say you saw it, and then move back up to the higher rent district. The shows are different every hour and some are better than others, but it is something that Vegas Virgins should go and see. Pros: It's Free, Nothing like it Cons: Can be too crowded more

"The Experience" 11/20/2002

There's nothing like the old part of Las Vegas! It was so much fun! My husband and I got married there in May '02, and we are going back for Christmas this year. Pros: Good parking, Entertaining, Overall Fun! Cons: too many tourist shop, Inexpensive more

Without the light show 11/1/2002

Without the light show there is little left to "experience". Every dollar counts in Las Vegas. As others have posted, I'm sorry we wasted our money on the taxi ride. Pros: light show more

Best Las Vegas Experiance for a 1st time 8/30/2002

Freemont street is a multitude of experiances in one. The lights, the free music and entertainment, and lets not forget the casinos! My favorite in that last catagory has to be La Bayou. A small but cozy little casino, or is it a bar with slots? The drinks are to die for. $7 buys you a foot long daqueri, which you really need on thos ehot summer nights. The staff is friendly, and funny, and you have the added bonus of getting a ticket for a chance to spin the wheel and win big !! Dont leave Vegas without seeing Freemont!! more

It's a GOTTA SEE in Vegas 8/28/2002

This place is definetly got to do in Las Vegas. Don't get me wrong, what's on Vegas Blvd. is great and beand new, but you have to see where it all began and that is Freemont Street. Next time I visit, I'll end up staying down there. Pros: Light Show, Good Food & Drinks Cons: No AC, Bathrooms more

Like a trailer park with special effects 8/28/2002

lots of fun, mingle with the street folk and the homeless, watch Metro in action more

Great light show 8/22/2002

Great light show. Very impressed with how good the images look when projected on the roof of the mall. Pros: Great Lights, Good Venue more

Downtown never looked so good 8/22/2002

Need I say that all the renovations, the light show, the addition of the Neon which will be soon filled with shops also it's new underground parking, and 20 cinemas. Also all of the best hotel casinos and resteraunts in Vegas. It's all in one stop Downtown where the Lights are Bright!! Pros: Walking distance, Best Resteraunts, More to do in 1 stop more

A St. Patties Day Must!!! 8/15/2002

My friends and I went to stay at the Fitzgerald's Holiday with the intent of spending every day and night on the strip. But, with all of the St Patricks day hoopla (green beer, live bands etc.) we barely left Freemont street at all. Beware if you stay here however if you don't like hotel buffet's you are going to want to venture out to another area. Pros: free Cons: limited dining more

Tough choice 8/14/2002

As tough a choice as this is the freemont street experience is probably tied as best with most of the attractions on the main strip. The only thing that may make it a bit above is the fact that the light shows are different each hour. 5 different shows w/ the same area. and easier to get a spot to see it. more

Free Show Downtown 8/13/2002

FSE was great no other place like it in the world can only find it in Las Vegas. If I had to recommend one show it would be the 11 o' clock show. Its free and fun. Have to see it once, before you leave. Pros: free Cons: Downtown more
