Got a quote for replacement of AC condenser & drier (with me supplying the new parts myself) and their labor quote was more than double the quotes I got elsewhere. I was shocked ...

If you care about your car, AVOID these yahoos. Came here for a simple oil change. They had no clue what they were doing and over filled the oil. I had take it to the dealership for repairs. Unbelievable. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/3/2013

Went to Frantz after reading reviews online. I highly regret that. Do not ever go to this shop if you don't know the abcd of the car. They will fool you and empty your pockets. Please avoid and save some money! more

Best Experience Ever! 4/18/2012

Hands down the best experience I have had with an automotive repair shop ever. I took a coworker's advice and called Frantz Automotive for an estimate to replace the leaking water pump on my Ford F-150. Their price was a bit lower than what my usual repair shop quoted so I figured I'd give them a shot. I am glad I did. They did what they said they would and my truck was finished on time as promised. The best part however is that the bill was less than the original estimate! Turns out they found a less expensive pump at another supplier. Talk about service!\r more

Reliable and Trustworthy 2/23/2012

We relocated here to Cary, NC and took a leap of faith when our car needed repair. The guys at Frantz were great, their shop is clean and our car now runs perfectly! more

Nobody Better 12/7/2010

I've been taking our cars to Frantz Automotive for years. You won't find a better repair shop in the state. Excellent service at a very competitive price. more

None better! 10/25/2009

I've been having car repairs done for 40 years all over the country, and I've never encountered a better automotive service. These guys never try to oversell a service but they do whatever's necessary , and only necessary, to keep my cars on the road (my car has 143,000 mi; my wife's 218,000... and she is a car's worst nightmare... ""Honey, my oil light's on again... can you get me more oil?""). Oh, and did I mention that they can repair Suzukis? Pros: Conscientious, honest, customer-oriented Cons: Not open on Saturday more

Priced right and honest 3/26/2009

I recently broke down on the other side of town, the car just shut off at a stop light. There was a repair shop across the street so we pushed the car to their lot. Since my car was there I decided to let them look it. I was given an estimate of nearly $800.00 for a new fuel pump. Shocked, I called Frantz Automotive for a second opinion since I always take my car to them for service. Their estimate came in at $379.00. Needless to say I towed the car to Frantz and had it fixed for about half the price of the other garage, including towing! The people at Frantz are great! Jenna (my car) :-) and my bank account can't thank them enough. Pros: friendly staff, clean waiting area, never had any problems Cons: there aren't any more

GET YOUR CAR FIXED HERE! 2/10/2009

My car would occasionally stall when coming to a stop or exiting an off ramp. Every time I took the car to the dealer to have it looked at they could never find anything wrong. They would say we checked this or that, then send me on my way and ask me to ""see how it does"". A few days later the car would stall again. My boss recommended I call Frantz Automotive. When I called and began to describe my problem I was very impressed with the manner in which the gentleman on the phone asked so many questions in an attempt to gather as much information as possible. After our conversation he said he suspected the problem might be a faulty solonoid in the transmission of all things, but asked me to bring the car in to verify. Turns out he was right! The cars been working great ever since. Oh, and the gentleman on the phone turned out to be the owner, Don Frantz. It turns out Mr. Frantz also happens to be a member of the Cary Town Council. Cary not only trusts him to fix their cars but the town also! \r \r Get your car fixed here! I'm glad I did. Pros: Clean shop. Owner actually works there. Outstanding customer service. more

They can fix stupid too! 1/20/2009

Yesterday was the most snow we had seen in years. I should have stayed home like the nice lady on TV said, but I didn't. Coming from Boston the roads looked pretty safe to me. Well needless to say I was wrong and my utter stupidity resulted in my right front tire and the curb becoming better aquatinted. I called Frantz for help and did they ever! They sent a mechanic out who changed my tire for me in the snow! He even followed me home to make sure I made it back safely. The folks at Frantz have been fixing our family's vehicles for about 2 years now. They fixed my stupidity yesterday. more

Best dang garage in town! 7/28/2008

The title says it all. The people at Frantz are fantastic. No gimicks and no unnecessary upsells here. Cons: there is only one Frantz Automotive in Cary. more

Holy Cow they are expensive compared to others 7/21/2008

Got a quote for replacement of AC condenser & drier (with me supplying the new parts myself) and their labor quote was more than double the quotes I got elsewhere. I was shocked and disappointed because I've heard great things about them and wanted to try them, but at this price there is no way I'm going to find out first-hand. I can't justify paying more than double the labor cost. Heck, they were even higher than my dealer and I know my dealer is charging TOP DOLLAR. Nope, not gonna bite at 2x the price. more

Not a good experience 5/15/2008

Went here after reading good reviews here and elsewhere. Nice looking building clean big waiting room. Staff was friendly. I had a oil lube filter that went well enough. Next time I had one of the ""big service"" due, you know, one of the 30,60,90,000 type services. When done, my ABS light was on and I was told it would go off after 25 miles or so, never did. Took it back, they had it for a day and when I pick it up they said all set, next morning, there's my ABS light coming on again and I seem to be leaking some kind of fluid. They had performed a transmition fluid flush as part of the big service, so I thought maybe just some that was left after job was performed, but it never went away. Went back again they call me back and say, you need a new head gasket, great. Quote me 3 days to get job done. Have to adjust my work schedule a little. Share car with my wife to get around. I call on day 3 and am told ""sorry not done yet"" we'll call you when done. Now I'm going into a weekend, call Monday and it's not done and person on phone says ""I said I call when it's done"" and I think to myself ""Oh I'm sorry am I inconveniencing you? It's my car that over due."" Next day they call and say ""It should be ready at 5"" Really should? I get there and at 530 they have it done. 4 days late. I drive off and what do I see, my ABS light staring back at me. I'm taking it elsewhere. Just my experience, maybe you'll do better. more

Excellent Service, Honest People 2/11/2008

Being a woman I have always felt intimidated by mechanics and that I was being ripped off; until now. Imagine my surprise when I walked in the front door at Frantz Automotive Center and the first person who greeted me was a woman! Turns out her and her husband own the place. She works the office, and he works in the shop. Nice folks. She knows her stuff too. She was not only able to explain what my car needed, but in a way I could understand. I felt very comfortable here. I highly reccomend Frantz Automotive Center. Pros: Woman owned, friendly and knowlegable staff more

Incredible experience 12/11/2007

I can't explain it, but I have never left an automobile repair shop and felt good about my visit until now. You have to experience this place. more

The only place to take your car! 10/29/2007

If you are looking for a repair shop that guarantees their work for a year, charges a fair price, and returns your car when promised then this is the place for you! We have been using the folks at Frantz for over 4 years now and have never had a problem. Only once did we ever need to return for warranty work, and they took care of it - no questions asked. No unnecessary upsells, no hidden charges, and no greasy steering wheels here. Pros: Very clean facility inside and out. Ample parking. Friendly and professional employees. more

The way car repair should be 8/5/2007

Clean shop, outstanding customer service, and great mechanics. If you haven't yet found a mechanic you can trust, now you have. Pros: clean clean clean. Very trustworthy. Hands on owners Cons: not open on weekends more

WOW!!!!! 6/7/2007

I lived in Cary from 1998 - 2004 and always used Frantz Automotive for all of our families vehicle repair needs. The people were honest, the car was always fixed, the vehicle's interior was always clean, and the prices were better than most. \r \r I took a job in Maryland in the fall of 2004 but after 2 1/2 years there I couldn't take it any more and moved back to Cary. My Cheverolet Tahoe was due for an oil change and tire balance so I took it to Frantz Automotive for service like I always had.\r \r All I can say is WOW!!!! I knew I would receive great service and my truck would be delivered as promised, but as I pulled into their parking lot I was amazed to find the old metal building they used to occupy had been replaced with an entirely new facility. And what a facility it is! If you haven't seen it yet you must. It is truly amazing. The folks at Frantz Automotive had set the standard for what auto repair and service should be like a long time ago. Now they have set the standard for future redevelopment in Cary's downtown area.\r \r Oh, and the surprising thing was the oil change still cost the same as it did in 2004. Unbelieveable. \r Pros: trustworthy family owned and operated business, highly recommended more

Best repair shop I've ever been to! 5/15/2007

Not only do they greet you with a smile and remember your name, they take the time to explain what your car needs, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. The waiting room is very comfortable. They even have tables and wireless internet so you can work while they work on your car. We have never had any kind of issue at Frantz Automotive. The car is always fixed and the bill is always what they said it would be. We just bought a new Lexus and while the dealer gave us all kinds of ""incentives"" to come back to them for service, we'll be bringing her to Frantz Automotive. We trust them. Pros: Large waiting room, wireless internet, knowlegable mechanics/staff, owners on site. Cons: none more

The most professional repair shop ever! 5/7/2007

The check engine light in our minivan came on the other week so we brought it to Frantz Automotive to have it checked out. They diagnosed the problem as a defective catalytic converter. Then to our amazement they informed us that this problem would be covered under the manufacturer's warranty and that we needed to make an appointment to see the dealer where they would fix it free of charge - which we did. Frantz Automotive saved us over $600.00!!!!!\r \r Frantz could have neglected to inform us of this warranty, and simply charged us to fix the problem, but they didn't. They are honest people and have our business for life. Pros: Honest, Reliable, Priced Right! more

Best Shop in Cary Hands Down! 4/29/2007

A friend reccomended I try Frantz Automotive and I'm glad they did! My Acura had been to 4 shops - including the dealer - and no one could fix it. I had the fuel pump replaced twice, a new relay, some harness thing, and numerous other ""fixes"" but after 3-4 days the same thing - car wouldn't start. \r \r Frantz checked it out, called me to explain I had a bad ground and repaired it. It's been 2 months now and the car starts every time. Total bill at Frantz Automotive for a fixed car was $122.54. Total bill at other 4 shops for a not fixed car was $1345.97. \r \r Give them a try, I'm glad I did! Pros: Clean waiting room/restrooms. Intelligent staff and well trained technicians. Female friendly more
