Frank's Waterside

Just went for a few drinks one night and turns out that I fell in love, not with my fiance but with the restaurant. LOL! I want my wedding here now too!!! The glowing bar overlooking the city view is awesome. The Bloody Marys are out of this world. And when I found out they have a 2nd and 3rd floor for events, I knew this was the place for my wedding!!!!! LOVE IT! The lighting, chandeliers and walls of windows are gorgeous. While I was there I met with one of the owner's Frances, she is even beautiful..hahahahaha..This place has it all!! I cannot see how anyone in their right mind can give this place a negative review. A few days later I walked thru the Chart House and in my opinion, the Waterside, is more modern and up to date. I also heard they have an outside bar with a dj on Thursday and Saturday nights..Sounds like fun.....Gotta check it out ; ) more

The view is a bit up river, so you see more of the residential skyline then the skyscrapers, but still makes for a unique dining experience. We will go back to try the outside seating , which looks awesome, as does the outside bar! We booked the reservation with a very friendly hostess, Christina, who was very accommodating. We were a large last minute party, would have preferred a window seat, next time will call in advance. The waiter had the food and drinks timed well from start to finish. The seafood dishes were all excellent, especially the Chilean sea bass (melts in your mouth). The soups and salads were good -- not great, and the chopped salad came out whole (not chopped) for $10 I want it chopped and the walnut salad had NO walnuts... HOWEVER, as any good restaurant should, the manager came over and asked us for feedback, we expressed our disappointment in the salads and he IMMEDIATELY apologized and comped both salads. I visited Franks Waterside for a special holiday meal right before Christmas. My family and I dined at Frank's at Christmastime the year before[2007] and had an absolutely wonderful meal so we returned for the same great experience. Wow. were we disappointed. They changed the menu to the point where most of the special entrees were removed. I ordered fish which had very little flavor and was lackluster. The rest my party was disappointed as well and the food did not come out together for all the people in our group. Cappucino was lukewarm. Through some questioning as to why the food was so different I came to find out that there have been 2 chef changes in 2008 since my last visit. The view is the only thing that has not changed. Skip the mediocre overpriced food..go for a drink and music and take in the view. Pros: View of New York City more

WOW! The quality has certainly changed since precious reviewers ate here! The new menu and new chef in 2008 are fabulous!! Appetizers are amazing; the N.E. Clam Chowder as authentic as it gets! Seafood tower is amazing, with invisible pre-cracked and pre-sliced meat, perfectly put back in place in the shells, looks like you need lots of muscles and equipment to eat, but is prepared for the diner's ease. Very fresh, very cold, and mouth-watering good! Seared scallops were amazing, over a bed of diced beets, and the chorizo-topped mussels were just wonderful. Entrees are incredible and diverse! LOVED the lemon sole with the roasted potatoes, and the strip steak was the tastiest and most tender I ever ate! Desserts are really wonderful, so try to save some room. The service and the view can't be beat, but the food is THE reason to eat at Frank's! Everyone in our group LOVED the entire experience and can't wait to go back! Let me just say don't ever go to this dump. The food is good only if you want pink chicken over cooked steaks(twice) sour salmon or weak watered down drinks. The service was like watching a chicken running around with out it's head. We waited 20 min to be seated even with reservations, then 15 min for a server, then 10 min for drinks, and another 10 to get our order taken. We say our waiter only a total of 5 times. The so called managment was to busy flirting with ladies at table to even notice all the problems.... The only good thing about the place was the view and thats it....... NEVER ARE WE OR ANY OF OUR FRIENDS EVER GOING BACK EVER!!!! Pros: view Cons: food service managment everything more

Nothing redeeming about this restaurant. The service was poor. The food came out two hours after we ordered it. I ordered the steak to be cooked medium rare and it came out well done. went there for a friend's birthday one of my other friend and i went early and sat by the bar which had a spectacular view of the city... food wasn't as expensive as i thought it would be their special appetizer (calamarie / avocado) was great! lemon sole~ yummy!!!~ we had great service... everyone was so welcoming and helpful Pros: AWESOME VIEW, good friend, good service more
