imo, the best pizza ever! I've been enjoying this pizza for over 25 years. I even took an unbaked pizza to a friend of mind in FL who moved away and was longing for their delicious pizza. Their pizza is uncommon, it has the cheese on the bottom with a sweeter smooth sauce on top and is baked to perfection. I just cannot tell you how fabulous this pizza is, and its great the next morning cold (as any Frank's pizza lover will tell you). You cannot go wrong with this pizza. They're closed on Sundays and Mondays so it can be difficult when you start to crave some of their pizza on a Sunday night, knowing you have to wait til Tuesday before you can get it, but its always worth the wait. Its unfortunate the Frank himself recently passed, but the family has carried on his tradition and his standards. I always call ahead to reduce the wait, especially a good idea if you're ordering a large quantity. They sell their pizza by the pie, but you can get it by the slice as well, but not sure why anyone wouldn't want an entire pie, as it won't go to waste. more

The best pizza ever made 7/9/2009

This pizza shop is, by far, the best that there is anywhere on this planet Earth. Call me crazy, but I would much rather have their pies over any other pizza place. It is so worth the drive. Also, when I get the opportunity, I'll snag some friends of mine so that they too can become fans of this excellent pizza pie. All I ask of Frank's Pizzeria at this point is that they stay in business so that I (and many other fans) will keep coming back. Keep it up guys! Great job! Pros: Cheese under the sauce, perfect crust, and great family! Cons: I wish it was close to my house... bummer. more

great pizza 5/5/2009

This town has the greatest pizza in this small of an area. Now if we could just get a tax collector that knew how to run her business instead of sticking her nose in everyones business we would moving in the right direction. Joann Dunn Crano needs to be voted out and we need to put a tax collector back in like the Dunn's that run the erie insurance down the block. It would be a plus to not have to go there 3 or 4 times to pay the taxes because she is out for coffee or lunch with a sign in the window. Nows the time to vote in a new tax collector. Best Pizza Ever! 10/4/2008

I love Frank's pizza!! It is by far the best pizza in the Pittsburgh area. The prices are cheap, the owners and workers (all family) are warm and welcoming, and the pizza is simply delicious. The crust is perfect, and I love the old-world Italian style. It's great plain, but every now and then I get a craving for extra cheese and their delicious thick sliced pepperoni. I've been eating at Frank's forever (my family lives just down the block), and I would recommend it to anyone. Pros: DELICIOUS pizza, great price!! Cons: Not open on Sundays and Mondays... ALWAYS order extra early on Fridays!! more

I can't wait to visit home for a few reasons..... 7/2/2008

I have been eating Frank's Pizza for 25 years and I miss the fact that I can't have a slice whenever I want anymore. Living 2300 miles away puts a damper on that, and there is no ""standout"" pizza shop anywhere in the blustery desert. The first thing I do when I travel back home to Baden is go to Police Station/Pizza House and get 3 slices there, then head directly up to Frank's and order a pie there. I eat the Police Station/Pizza House first because its an excellent pizza as well, and a staple in the Ambridge community. I then get the Frank's pie with pep on it, because you know what they say.....SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST! There were many times as a youngster that Frank's Pizza eased my hangovers and satisfied my munchie cravings. Those days are over for me, but even without ""help"", my mouth still waters every time I think about Pizza in Ambridge! Pros: Park right on the street in Historic Downtown Ambridge, Charming Atmosphere, The Sauce and Dough is Made With Love Cons: They do not have a location in Phoenix! more

Fantastic Pizza 4/1/2008

My friends and I went to Frank's Pizza last Friday. We drove from my house in Mt. Lebanon, about twenty minutes from Frank's, it was worth it. My friends and I are huge Fiori Pizza fans, but we needed to try Frank's. We ordered two pies, one plain and one pepperoni, they were fantastic. I ate the pepperoni one and it tasted great, the pepperoni's tasted so good. I also liked the sauce on top of the cheese, even though it was a bit messy. All and all I think Frank's is great, but I still think Fiori's is better. Frank's pepperoni and prices are definitely better than Fiori's. However, Fiori's has Frank's beat in the sauce and crust category. The drive, every once in awhile, is worth it. I would not drive there every time I wanted pizza, like I would Fiori's. Great pizza none the less! more

the cream of the crop!!!!! 9/15/2007

I visited a friend in pittsburg to watch the steelers get creamed, well we ended up at Frank's Pizzeria and I have to say I have never tasted anything like it!!! Now, I've had pizza in Italy and I'm a New Yorker where we have the best pizza in America, or so I thought.... FRANK'S PIZZERIA IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! Fresh ingrediants.... cheeze under the sauce???....BRILLIANT!!!!... Believe me when I tell you I was actually going fight with my buddy over the last slice...then we realized why fight when we can just by another pie... AND WE DID!!!.... Thanks Frank... you made my trip worth while.... oh, an it doesn't hurt to have a cute curly haired brunette working behind the counter!!!! more

I grew up on Frank's, and I still travel from Pittsburh to Ambridge on occassion to enjoy this legendary pizza. 11/24/2006

This family-owned pizza shop is only open on evenings Tuesday - Saturday, but it is worth a special trip. No seating - only to go - but as kids we used to enjoy it on some of the steps of adjoining properties. Homemade sauce and dough and only the best ingredients. Sauce goes over the cheese so you don't burn the cheese (why ruin good cheese). Also, most toppings go on after cooking and the pepperoni is the best. Why cook the pepperoni to runny, greasy reminants of a great topping, anyway. I usually get it with x-tra cheese - just melted on top a bit afterward to preserve the fine cheese taste - and pepperoni. Pizza this good for such a terrific price, makes Frank's number one in the Pittsburgh area, and the best I've tasted outside a couple of spots in NYC. This family has been making their home made pizza for over 50 years, and it is still as good as I remember way back then. more

tremendous pies! 6/25/2006

I travel 25 miles to Frank's as often as possible just to satisfy my cravings for their great pies. Forget Mineo's, Vincent's and Fiori's (which are all pretty good), but, they just don't measure up to Frank's. Whether its traditional or white pizza you can't go wrong with either. This is undoubtedly the undisputed king of pizzeria's in Pgh. If you haven't been there yet you need to go! Pros: pizza, toppings, value more

I was born in the Ambridge area to parents who grew up eating at Franks. It is always a stop whenever I go back to Pittsburgh (I now live in Florida.) For Christmas our relatives mail us a packed pie! It is without question the best Pizza in the world and a true Ambridge treasure. more

Frank's is Fab 3/17/2005

Frank's has always been a home away from home. When I'm there, I always feel like a part of the Aloe family. I could eat the pizza every night and never get sick of it! It is truly the best pizza I have ever eaten, and I've had it all over the world, including Italy! more

Frank's Pizza is the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. I now live 800 miles from Ambridge, and every time my mother visits, I tell her she's not getting through the front door without two or three packed-for-travel pies! What a wonderful pizza! Franks Pizza was unknown to me until about 4 years ago. From then on, anytime that I wanted a pizza, I always thought of Franks. The combined qualities of excellent homemade sauce, fresh cheeses, hand rolled dough, and tasty toppings always makes the mouth happy. White pizzas are also fantastic! Frank's pizza is the best and freshest pizza around. Dough is made daily. The ingredients are always fresh and the pepperoni is not baked on so the flavor is superb. It is a family run business which gives it a warm and inviting atmosphere. more

I grew up in Ambridge eating Frank's Pizza just about every weekend. When my huband and I moved out west, we had friends and family either bring Frank's out to use or ship it to us unbaked. Many a night while living out west, we would both say, ""God, I could go for a Frank's"". Nothing flashy with the pizza shop just great pizza being made. Call ahead to order and every time you will hear, ""Twenty mintues"". It' wonderful to see now Frank's grandkids working there and learning from a pro on how to make simply the best pizza ever! more
