Francis was referred to me when I was in desperate need of a contractor. My best friend Carol told me he does good work but is pricey. Francis encouraged me to get bids from other contractors. Everyone was about the same but Francis proposal warned me of the possibility of what could go wrong. I used him and the project went as Francis promised. In 2010, I wanted to remodel my kitchen. I got three bids, Francis being one of them. One bid was almost 25% cheaper and the other two were pennies apart.\r \r I went with the cheaper. The project dragged on and on. Extra after extra. 1/4 of the way through and the budget had already been exceeded. I called Francis for his advise. ""I warned you.""\r \r I paid the contractor off and hired Francis. Francis has my trust. This fall, I'm doing a room addition and Francis still insists I get two other bids so I know i'm getting value. more

Excellent service 2/11/2012

Francis Alwill was refered from my good friend who is his long time client. I was not sure how much was involved with my remodel. Francis drew me up a proposal lining out detail. I found his prices for labor to very cmpetitive. more

Forget this Contractor 7/19/2011

Mr. Alwill came in his Bermuda shorts and flip flops to view and give me a quote on repairing my old redwood deck. After viewing it and a short discussion where I asked him two or three questions to explain some of his comments, he said ""I think you should get another contractor"" turned and left and refused to explain himself. I have dealt with contractors over 50 years in three countries and have never been treated with such rudeness. This man is a prima donna. After reviewing his company on the web I understand he sub-contracts the work and is very expensive, with mixed results. Save yourself problems, find a professional, courteous contractor, which he is not. more

I started my project with a contractor who was not familiar with the Carmel building department. After talking with Francis for 10 minuates I knew he was the contractor to do my remodel. He finished on time and on budget. more

Francis Alwill contractor 7/6/2011

I used Francis Alwill to repair a leaking window, which involved extensive exterior stucco repair. His workers were professional and performed a repair that was a perfect match. He then obtained a superior house painter for me and negotiated a price that I would not have been able to obtain on my own. Highly recommended. more

Francis did a fantastic job upgrading my kitchen. I enjoyed having Francis as my general contractor because he took all my ideas and put each one into great thought to come up with a great result! With his knowledge, Francis was able to give me the opportunity to make my home the best that it could be. He explained to me pro and cons of each option, so that I could make very educated decision, and also helped me to make my kitchen cost effective. I appreciated his great personality and humor throughout the whole project! Thank you Francis for your great help! We are looking forward to work with you again in the future! more

Highly recommend! 3/29/2011

General Contractor Francis Alwill got repair jobs in my house. I first hired him for small repairs. he is very easy to get a hold of and to negotiate. Reasonable price and professional job guaranteed!! I had other general contractors, handy men, and plumbers for repairs but now I call only Francis Alwill whenever I have some problems at home. He also replaced heating ducks and old pipes in the kitchen. He installed a drywall in the garage. He remodeled my master bedroom. He showed up on time. I did not know that I had to get a permit for the roof. He scheduled city inspection before & after the job in a timely manner and he provided me the permit when the job was completed. He did not charge me any extra money. I got the city permit right away. His crew members were professional and did all the jobs on time. Whenever I have some problems with my house, I feel comfortable giving him the job. I refered him to my friends and they all love him. I highly recommand him for any repairs! more
