WARNING! CLEARLY, THIS GUY HAS ISSUES... 4/7/2012

cowgirl and wildrider have got this guy pegged. i'm surprised how others seem to have had totally different experiences. first of all, the guy repairs glasses. that doesn't make him a rocket scientist. sorry. whatever high marks he gets in his work is overshadowed by his disgusting people skills. plus, it's not that hard to find a good place to fix your specs. no one needs to put up with his hostile attitude. i am a highly skilled craftsman myself, but that doesn't give me the right to treat my customers with sarcasm and disdain. this is how he always is and some people just don't pick up on it or they think that his skill somehow absolves him. when i dealt with him, he was definitely on a high horse, speaking gruffly and irritably as if i had ruined his day, simply by walking in his store. over the phone, i tried to get a rough estimate. he interrupted me with his spiel about how he couldn't tell me until he ""saw them in person. prices go from $5 to $54. most jobs are between $20 or $30"" pretty much insisting i make the drive there before even giving a quote. but once i got there, he acted like a supreme jerk and then jacked up the price to $70. i really just wanted my glasses fixed. i was not expecting to have to deal with some guy's bitter narcissism. i told myself there was no way i could give this creep my money. so i found a place called WORLD OPTIC on E Chapman. they were professional, quick, and charged me $40. now my glasses are like new. wow...top of the line, expert craftsmanship from NICE people. in the same area too. amaaaazing...look, bottom line is, myself and others have witnessed this idiot, richard, being a wretched character. you go to him and you risk getting the same ill treatment that will crawl under your skin. he doesn't deserve to have a business if he can't appreciate and respect the people trying to give him business. more

Great Work 12/28/2011

I took a pair of Badgley Mishka glasses which had a broken left hindge on them. (these are over 500$ glasses so I was afraid it might cost a lot to fix them and might not be able to fix them perfectly) Much to my surprise it only cost 45$ and the job that was done on these glasses was done so well I could not even tell which arm had been repaired. I would highly reccomend Frame Doctors for all your repair needs, and I would definately go back the next time I need a repair. more

IT TAKES TO LONG TO FIX MY GLASSES 10/25/2011

HE NEVER ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS. IT TAKES HIM 3 WEEKS TO FINISH YOUR GLASSES, IT COST TO MUCH. DON'T GO THERE. IF U DO, IT WILL WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY.. TRUST ME. more

Reliable and Honest 6/28/2011

We've been doing business with Frame Doctors in Orange for the past two years, as a result of owning frameless glasses with titanium templates. We have recommended Frame Doctors to optometrists and friends who need to have eyeglass frames repaired. He is honest, caring, professional and skilled at his craft... and reasonably priced. We heartily recommend Frame Doctors in Orange. more

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS JERK! 6/14/2011

SAVE YOURSELF MAJOR FRUSTRATION AND DON'T GO TO FRAME DOCTORS!!!!! I have had to deal with this guy twice. Walmart recommended him to fix glasses. This business is not a business. He attempts to run it by himself and is never there even though his sign says he's open, and business hours posted in the window. He has a serious time management problem with a bad attitude to boot! He has his cell phone number posted on the window, but if you call and ask him why he is not there and the door locked, he will tell you his wife is sick and he's stuck in traffic somewhere. He gave me this same story last year when I had to deal with him. He expects you to wait for him hours on end, then he finally shows up so you can get your glasses. Never keeps his word as to when they will be ready. I was waiting with 5 other people trying to get their glasses back. One couple drove 20 miles for the second time to get there, had to wait for him to arrive, then the glasses weren't ready when he said they would be. They had to come back the following day again. Something about his acetylene tank being empty. I heard that story before too. Agree with Hank X. He never answers the question you ask, but will respond back to you with something unrelated. Does not listen to what is said and puts his own spin on it with a stupid answer back. Save yourself the frustration and DON'T go there, even if you have to do a mail in to some place else. He's not the only guy that fixes glasses. more

Frame Doctors to the Rescue 9/19/2010

I was in desperate need of having my prescription eyeglass frames repaired. The damage was a break between the nose piece and lens frame. I broke them on Wednesday 9/8/10 and needed them on Saturday 9/11/10. We were hosting a Baby Shower for my daughter and a big party was planned. I wanted my glasses for this occasion. more

A true craftsman who will get the job done 6/29/2010

When my wife purchased her Bvlgari Sunglasses in Santa Barbara on vacation, I groaned at the expensive designer cost (~380.00). She then reminded me of the similar costing Maui Jim's I purchased recently. Although my experience with the quality and customer service (when repairs were needed) of Maui Jim is superb, I could not find the same service from Bvlgari. Maybe that's because most people buying Bvlgari just buy a new pair. Pros: A skilled and expert craftman who knows his trade Cons: Not a salesman more

Save yourself the aggravation 6/7/2010

It's rare these days to run across such lousy customer service. The guy at this location is Richard. He's one of those guys where if you ask what time it is, he'll tell you how to build a watch. But he'll never tell you the time and act like you're an idiot for asking. The summary: Low quality looking work. Careless handling of my frame. Surly, arrogant, callous customer (dis)service. Blames customer for his screw ups. No respect for customers' time. Takes 2+ hours to achieve what should take 15 minutes. I just needed something to tide me over while my new glasses were being made, what I got was aggravation from a self-righteous hack. I should have followed my gut and left when he started in with his ""What did I just say?"" attitude when I was simply asking for clarification. But I rationalized it thinking that he is just a top craftsman who is proud of his work. Definitely not the case. If Richard is an employee, he should be canned. If he's the owner, like his grandiose statements implied, Frame Doctors deserves to go under. If you're reading this, Richard, you're not a big deal for being able to turn four screws in 10 minutes. Get over yourself. Also, improve your skills before you present yourself as ""First Rate."" If I had known what filler and laser settings were correct to use, or had test pieces to experiment on, I would have done a much better job myself. Pros: Reasonable monetary price Cons: The non monetary costs are high more

Richard is an excellent repairman and prices are very reasonable 12/5/2008

If you're going to repair your glasses and want an excellent job and cost friendly, stop by Frame Doctors, Richard is the proprietor and an excellent repair technician who is friendly, knowledgeable and his fees are very reasonable. more
