Pretty cool place 9/5/2009

So I guess I had better luck than most of the other reviewers because the bartenders at the bar I was sitting at were pretty nice...one was actually friendly! The atmosphere was cool and casual. The televisions against the wall were huge...it was a wall of TV's...I have never seen anything like it. I didn't partake in the OTB, darts, billiards, etc but loved the fact that I had options and probably will next time. The only complaint I had was that it was Saturday night and the only sound in there was coming from one of the college football games that was on one of the huge screens...it's Saturday night...PUT SOME GOOD MUSIC ON!!!! Pros: HUGE televisions Cons: Didn't play music more

Great place to meet a ton of your friends at 2/13/2009

Talk about room to spare. I was tired of cramming into those small corporate bars where all of your money goes to some other state. New managers have taken over.... it is locally owned...... at least that what my friend told me. I had heard of The Foundry but was told it was a little high in price. Are you kidding me? The downtown Naperville scene is what is over priced these days. And, you might as well count on getting pulled over by the local black and whites down there. Guess they make a ton off DUI's every year. $3.50 for most mixed drinks and a 32oz mug for $4.00 you can't beat that! We had a pizza which was surprisingly good. Great band playing on the Friday we went. Definately a must return! Pros: Plenty of room to meet with friends, great prices! Cons: took a while to get a beer, but the place is HUGE more

Dissappointed and uncomfortable 9/23/2008

I can see how people would think this place is a great sports bar, but the TV's are dated, the service was awful, and the prices are absolutely ridiculous. The seating is terrible, and many often find themselves standing trying to get a decent view of a game. Another interesting thing I noticed and had recently heard is that it has started to pick up a gay crowd. Not that it is terrible, just not my scene. more

Big place.. tons of stuff to do 4/28/2008

Big place, ton of stuff to do, live music,, service a little slow, but then again nothing is perfect, and prices are reasonable for beer and liquor, heck even a little on the cheap side of reasonable, so i cant complain Pros: Big place Cons: service a bit slow, i might be slow though too if i had to walk across the entire place all night as well. more

Terrible Service 2/17/2008

Again, I am totally not one to complain ... but we had TERRIBLE service. First we went to the martini bar where the waitress yelled at us for moving tables (we had a large group). Then took about a half hour to get all our drinks ... which wasn't so bad considering we had a large group. Although the bar area was pretty empty ... I decided to overlook this. So later in the night we were downstairs listening to the band ... i decided to order another drink and the bartender told me to go up to martini bar he was to busy to make that drink. So I went a waitress who was walking around and asked her to get us the martini and she went to the same bartender and I watched him make our drink. He was so rude ... he looked like he had herpes ... his name was Dave and he screamed creep. Anywayz. Amy was the only nice server we had the whole night. I heard from other people in our group they waited 30 minutes for 1 MGD on draft. Seriously the bartenders are retarded at this place and they can't serve a drink to save their lives. I probably won't go back unless my friends drag me out ... I'd rather hang out in the city without the lame bartenders. more

Great place Bad Service 11/7/2006

I have been to this place about 5 times. The first time I went I thought it was incredible. The place was huge and there were so many things to do. Since then I now realize that the huge televisions and fun activities were all smoke and mirrors to distract you from the terrible service and overpriced food and drinks. I can imagine a place like that needs to up their prices to maintain all the bar activities but at least tell your service staff to pretend that they give a cr@p that I am paying them to get me drunk. WORST SERVICE EVER! I would not go back until management restructures. Pros: Great Atmosphere Cons: Horrible service more

Do you feel lucky?? 10/6/2006

In general, I like this place... mostly because I'm an extremely patient person and a huge sports fan. I come here a lot to watch sports because there are TONS of TVs and they can get just about any game you would want to see. However, the service can range anywhere from ok to just plain bad. I can't say that I've ever had great service, but I can definitely say that I've had really crappy service too. For example, I had a waitress that we saw 3 times during the 2 hours we were there, who was extremely unfriendly, and who stood behind us waiting while we wrote out her tip! Let's just say it was NOT a big one! The food is really overpriced, but generally pretty tasty. So, if you need somewhere to go to watch sports and you're willing to press your luck with the service, give this place a shot. Pros: Lots of TVs, cool vibe, good food Cons: Inconsistent service, overpriced everything more

Great Atmosphere/Very Cool Place...But Good Service Not Guaranteed 7/27/2006

I live in the Naperville/Aurora area and my friends and I are always looking for a good bar to hang out at. The Foundry is huge, always has great sporting events on televison from horse racing to nascar to football, pool tables that aren't too hard to get if you're willing to wait a little while, and is a great place to hang out. The food is good, but a bit overpriced in my opinion, and if it's a sport night or after a certain time, your options will be limited by having to order on a different menu than the regular one. I'm definitely a fan of mixed drinks and martinis and The Foundry certainly doesn't go cheap on the liquor. My drinks are always on the strong side (the way I like em), but it takes a little bit for them to get to you after you order. Your service really depends on how busy they are and who you get. I've had great experiences at The Foundry, but I've also had really crappy service as well. The managers could care less what you have to say if the service is bad. All you get is a half-assed apology and they move on. Bottom line, it's a great place with lots to do, a great drink menu, and good food. Be prepared to spend a little more money than you'd really like to and... Hope that the server you get that night is having a good day. Pros: Good Atmosphere, Good Food, Great Drinks Cons: Slow Service, Bad Attitudes (Sometimes) more

rudest service ever! Read the other recent reviews and you will be convinced never to go here! 7/26/2006

ok I am not a person that complains and this is the first time I am writing a review. This is because the service was THAT BAD. The manager actually told us that if we dont like the service we could leave! Im being totally honest with you guys DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT EVER!!!!!!! Recently, a friend told me about an experience where the food was cold and the manager simply didnt care and denied that the food was cold!!! The next day they called to complain and the manager told them not to call any more or else he/she would call the police!!! By the way--these would middle aged female nurses that were calling-real threatening PLEASE DONT GO HERE!!!! Pros: thumbs down-horrible service-now i know why nobody's ever in there! Cons: too many to list! more

Very expensive, very poor service, lots of TV's 4/6/2006

My friends and I used to frequent this place every Friday, the service was always bad, but the place is huge and there are so many TV's that we just put up with it. The food is pretty much just standard bar food (burgers, cheese sticks, nachos), but it is much more expensive than most bar food. If you are going there to watch a major sports event, they have a different menu on those days. The sports menu has less items, you aren't allowed to substitute anything and they raise the prices by about $1 per item. The managers are always rude, the wait staff could not be worse and the food and alcohol is very overpriced. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to The Fox and Hound, the prices are better and the service is 1000 times better. Pros: Lots of TV's Cons: Rude, slow Service, Very expensive, "sports menu" more

Over-Priced, Poor Service, Lots of TVs 3/14/2006

I have been to the foundry a few times and arrived at few conclusions: 1. The service is horrible (and she was unattractive too) 2. The doormen are rude 3. $15 for a pitcher of stale tasting Miller Lite is ridiculous 4. Food is average, at best 5. $5 cover for a bar near a mall is a joke Don't come here for a good time unless you enjoy being ignored, overcharged and treated second class Pros: Lots of TVs Cons: Poor Service, Really high prices, Cover??!??! more

TRUST ME!! DON'T EVER GO THERE!!!! 1/23/2006

I really don't like to use these reviews on places as a deciding tool on whether or not to go there but this time, i really should of listened. the service was HORRIBLE!!!. We went Saturday night as a group of 12 and on average, it took 1/2 hour to receive drinks after ordering. I ordered a cigar and it took almost 45 minutes to get it. On top of that, some in my party were paying cash each drink order and were getting hit with a 17% tip which was about 15% more than she deserved. So after 1 1/2 hours of this, i went up to the manager very calm and expressed my concern and he was such a jerk. NOT ONCE did he say sorry. Very rude as if he didnt care. DONT EVER GO THERE Pros: Lots of Space Cons: Horrible service, Pricey, not worth the money more

CHECK PLEASE! 1/20/2006

We had a party of 8 and put in our dinner reservations at 6, by 7:30 we went to the reception desk to ask how much longer. We were told we were the next to be seated...only to be sitting upstairs overlooking the dinning area and see the next large table to be seated was not US! We quickly requested the check for our drinks while we waited and have never been back since. Aurora/Naperville could use a nice bar, but this is NOT it. Cons: Bad Service, Rude Employees, Expensive more

Thieves 11/21/2005

The food was bl& & well over priced. The ID checkers at the door were arrogant & snippy. I bought on of the house steins b/c it is cheap to refill. They gave me a glass that was broken & I brought it to the server's attention. She accused me of cracking it myself. I also ordered mozzarella sticks for $9.00, when they arrived, they were small & there were only 5. Then, I ordered 3 drinks. I gave the bartender a $100 bill & he gave me $56 in small bills & quickly busied himself to the back. I explained that I was short changed. The bartender told me that he didn't serve me (even though he did all night), & told me tough! I have never been treated like this in my life. Coworkers & friends have said they had similar experiences. I do not recommend this bar. Cons: Service, Stealing more

Fantastic 8/4/2005

This place is amazing! My friends and I frequent this HUGE sports bar and always have a great time. It's spacious, clean, and entertaining. Their mug club is an awesome deal, too: $15 for a 33 oz. glass mug that you can refill for $3 any time. YES! Cute servers, too! Pros: nachos, drink specials, sports more

The last straw... 6/6/2005

The first couple of times they may seemed like honest mistakes but we were there for dinner today and were treated horribly, again. Our order came out wrong twice and upon bringing it to the attention of the manager on duty, we were told that we were wrong and that we "don't know our meats." I have never been so talked down to. Condesending, rude, unprofessional, inconsiderate, and unacceptable to say the least. Never, ever again. Pros: Televisions Cons: Poor service more

Good atmosphere, poor service! 10/23/2004

This has the potential to be a fantastic place. However, the service is slow and very unfriendly and the drinks are overpriced. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Pros: Cool atmosphere Cons: , too expensive more

Only the lonely 5/7/2004

It can be very crowded or busy at night with sports events. Don't expect service. Also, if you are in the wrong part of the place they won't serve the a drink offered in another location. The best part is the many big screens - it can also be the worst if sensory overload means anything more

Something for all... 12/21/2002

From a sports bar to martini bar, restaurant to to pub games, it is almost impossible to go wrong here. The menu was a bit pricey, but with the food they delivered, it was worth it. The appetizer I had was great and, although I am not a dessert person, their coconut cheesecake was to die for. While eating in my booth, I was able to catch part of the Bulls game on their "wall of big screens". Service at the Restuarant Bar was a little bit slow, my only big complaint. I felt the staff at the bar and our waitress could have been friendlier and more attentive. Pros: Good food, Variety of themes Cons: Slow service more

Best Sports Bar in the 'Burbs 9/19/2002

The Foundry is, without a doubt, the best place to watch sports with a large group of friends in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. The Foundry offers more, HUGE TV screens than you can shake a stick at, a ton of pool tables and dart boards, an extensive beer list, cigar bar, and great bar food! If you are looking for a place to hang out, get drunk, and watch your favorite team beat the tar out of their opponent, then this is the place for you. Pros: good parking, very large, excellent buffalo win Cons: service often slow more
