Formally Yours formally sucks! 3/26/2010

Do not be fooled by the message from Formally Yours. Dealing with this store, the owner in particular, was anything but enjoyable and stress-free. Ordering six bridesmaid dresses, over 1200 dollars, was anything but fun and enjoyable; it was a wedding nightmare.\r Our order (due in Feb. 5) was late, and nobody called to inform of the delay. In fact, this went on for 47 days. Never once did I receive a call from the store when several of the "projected dates" for delivery passed. These dates, in hindsight, were based on nothing- I was left feeling like they just told me anything to get rid of me. \r When I finally had a discussion with the owner about it, she was rude and condescending. Blame was always thrown elsewhere and an apology was never made- nor was an offer to correct the situation.\r By the time the dresses DID come in, the wedding was less than twenty days away, and the dresses still needed to be shipped out of state as soon as possible so that alterations could be made. Sorry excuse for formality 3/26/2010

If I could, I wouldn't even click on a star, but the site requires one. \r \r The woman who owns this store is very unprofessional. We were promised a shipping date on a multiple dress order totaling $1,700. As you might imagine, bridesmaid dresses need to arrive prior to the wedding-- as in at least a month. Well, this store made no apologies for its tardiness. Dresses arrived 16 days before the wedding, which was in another state. In total, the order was more than 30 days late. \r \r The store failed to call on numerous occasions to keep us informed of what the delay and shipment date. \r \r We decided to order the dresses from this store because it was less expensive. Well, by the time rush-order shipping was paid for--to get the girls their dresses in their home state for alterations--we had gone well beyond our original budget. \r \r We might as well have paid full price at a corporate chain store. It would have been cheaper and certainly less stressful. more

Only ONE STAR Rating by me 1/21/2010

I wasn't able to highlight only one star...the least I was able to highlight was four stars, but do NOT be mistaken. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.\r \r When I walked into this store I was not terribly impressed, however it was small and quaint and I prefer to shop at local businesses. However, when the owner tried to sell me the rack dress - which was four sizes too big and had snags and tears everywhere - I should have walked out and went to David's Bridal. \r \r I had already fallen in love with the dress and decided to order it from her, fearing I wouldn't find it anywhere else. I too was pressured to purchase my dress on the first day, but I opted out of that.\r \r You can find a nicer staff at your local mechanics shop! \r \r Shop around and if you do try your dress on here, consider ordering it online, directly from the designer. more

DO NOT SHOP HERE! 5/31/2009

Formally Yours is the first store I ever shopped at for my wedding dress. I liked a dress that was over $1,000 and there was NO WAY we could afford it. Then the owner told us that if we paid in full and purchased it that day we would get 15% off the dress. I asked if I could look at other stores and come back and still get the 15% off because this was the first store I had looked at...and she flat out said NO! I was forced to buy the dress because if I left the store I would never be able to afford it if I did decide to come back and get it. So, I purchased the dress. When it came in I went to pick it up and they acted like the didn't remember who I was. No one helped me try it on. It was all wrinkled and looked like it had been shoved somewhere tight for storage. When we went to leave they wouldn't even give us a bag to carry it in...they wanted us to buy a bag after spending $1,000 on a dress! I went into Formally Yours after having second thoughts about a dress I had purchased elsewhere - I felt like I had been pressured into it, and jumped too quickly at a good deal instead of waiting for the perfect dress for me. I love that you don't need appointments here - you just walk in and they start to help you immediately. I told Taylor what I didn't like about the dress I already had, and what I had always pictured from the beginning. She started pulling dresses (as did I) and I tried on around ten (although you can try on the whole store if you want to!). The staff was very honest with me about what looked good and what didn't, and I felt no "hidden agenda" to steer me towards more expensive dresses. When I tried on "the one", all she could say was, "Wow" - and I agreed. It was significantly less expensive than others in my "maybe" pile, but it was undoubtedly the perfect dress for me. The first time I had gone there was to purchase bridesmaid dresses for my best friend's wedding. When we received the 3 dresses that we ordered, they were all small. Luckily I had lost 10 pounds so the dress ended up fitting me, but I don't think the other ladies should have to lose 10 pounds to fit into their dresses! After the fact, we learned from other brides had the same problems with dresses arriving sizes too small. We asked the owner if we could have them sent back for a size larger, but she got on the defensive and was very rude towards us. \r Despite this, we recently went back to look at dresses for the bride. Apparently the owner recognized us and gave us a very cold reception. We were not approached for the next hour to provide any help or anything the whole time we were there. I found that to be extremely unprofessional and it ruined the experience for the new bride. Every single store that I've visited has been extremely helpful. I will never go back to Formally Yours. Fabulous Dresses--Exceptional Services--No Appointments Required 2/2/2009

When my oldest daughter was getting married, we found the dress she loved in a magazine. Then we found it at the BEST price just around the corner from us at Formally Yours. When we got there, we found a friendly staff with expert knowledge and an uncanning ability to know just what you are looking for. They quickly helped us find bridesmaids dresses in the exact shade of green she wanted. So when my youngest daughter got engaged this year, we went back to Formally Yours. Cathy had a new store but the same great service and attitude. After trying on dress after dress, Lindsey brought one over to her and said "just try it." She loved it and quickly went from tears of frustration to tears of joy when you know you have found--the one. After describing the look and feel she wanted for the wedding, Lindsey found three great choices for the bridesmaid dress, my dress and the groom's mother's dress. And the service does not stop there. They had lots of tips and tricks to make sure everyone will look great--including the guys. Appointments are not required and you never feel pressured or rushed--just welcomed. Lindsay and all the women working were wonderful. SPECIAL AS OF MID-JANUARY: 15% off your gown if you buy it your first day at Formally Yours! After shopping every Saturday for 3 months, my sister purchased her dress from the previous Formally Yours location (they've been at their current one for 2 years I believe my helper said), so my mom was certain to bring me back to the same place at least to begin my dress shopping experience. I called during the week to see if an appointment was needed to try on dresses on Saturday & I was told "Nope! Just come on in & we'll help you as much as we can!" And Formally Yours did just that. A Saturday in January, my mom & I went in to the store before 11am, were greeted so nicely & then the fun began. I told Lindsay this was my first day looking & trying on dresses. After searching online trying to find the perfect wedding gown, I found a few I really liked in the Atlanta area. I contacted Formally Yours and was so impressed over the phone that I went out of my way to see them that day. No pressure, just simple consultation and great expectations were set from the beginning unlike some other places I had been. The staff has over 20 years of experience and are passionate about what they do without making you feel pressured. Even though the store was busy, I felt like they gave me just the right amount of attention to detail and consulted me along the way. What I was most impressed by was the experience they have with different designers and body types. They helped me not only pick out the perfect wedding dress, but my brides maid dresses also. The prices were extremely fair as well, which helped make the whole experience a pleasure and ultimately gave me some peace of mind. WOW 11/25/2008

I can't say enough about this place! It started off a little rocky because I felt a little out of place without an appointment but it ended up to be the best choice. I went in during the week, in the morning. One young girl was helping another bride but within 5 minutes came over to me and gave me some suggestions. Then she left me alone to make some of my own choices. She happily put all my selections in a room and let me go from there. Also she was within a minute away of helping me zip up and she continually checked up on me. After purchasing my dress they have and continue to meet all my expectations. They are very friendly and customer service orientated. For those that have had bad experiences here I suggest making an appointment, treat people how you want to be treated, be patient because its not always all about you all the time and respect their business. more

EXCELLENT SERVICE 10/15/2007

I found the perfect wedding dress here. I had been to the large chain bridal stores and was greatly dis-satisfied with the service and the off-the-rack buying options. The staff of Formally Yours was very helpful, patient, and knowledgeable about styles and fit. The price was also very reasonable and I feel that the quality and uniqueness of the dress far exceed the large chain stores. Though the shop is small, their selection is large. I would definitely make a stop in to view their selection of bridal & bridesmaids dresses. more

Small selection...but good 11/3/2005

We bought my first prom dress here, and I've tried to use them for other occasions such as my wedding...but they just didn't have what I wanted. I had a great experience using them for prom in high school, I am very pleased to report that others on my recommendation have had good experiences as well. Great parking, easy to find, the associates are wonderful. I did think the dressing rooms left a little to be desired though. more

In 2003, Susan's daughter Cathy Butler took ownership of the bridal salon. After living the NFL life for 13 years, her husband Kevin retired from football, and Cathy and her family moved back home. Being a native Atlantan, Cathy knew that owning Formally Yours bridal salon was her destiny. Since 2003, Formally Yours has expanded with a fresh look and new designs.
