OH YES BUYER BEWARE! My daughter wanted to go to one more dress shop and try dresses. ""Formerly Yours"" was the place we ended up. She decided on a dress because they assured her that they would be able to remove the corset and put in a zipper, every dress is different don't let them tell you this. They ordered a size 12 and she is a 4. The reasoning sounded ok at first, they needed the extra fabric to put in the zipper. The more I thought about it the more concerned I became. Once the dress was in and we met with their seamstress, I was really concerned too, about the zipper showing and in her words ""I use invisible zipper"". I sent several emails to her about the dress, don't cut the hem for one. I just had a bad feeling about the whole thing. Once we went for the fitting my fears came true. \r She put in the zipper like she said but by no means was it invisible. The first 2 inches at the top was but that was all and on top of that it was a white zipper in an ivory dress. I will do some couture hand sewing to fix the zipper but to fix the lines the top would have to come off and be reworked to fit her size 4, not 12, bodice. \r This was an awful experience, so awful that the whole wedding has changed, place and even the dress. If your only concern is money by all means go, the prices are reasonable but choose wisely. Get a dress that only will need to be taken in and nothing else!!!!!! They promise the moon and deliver much much less. \r I will fix the zipper but if you are a size 4 and have the height of a 12 ( 5.6 to 5.7) we have a dress for sale with a free veil. \r If you would like a wonderful bridal shop event please go to Myrtle Beach and visit The Little White Dress, it was better than our trip to Lori's Bridal. \r more

So disapointed in this shop. The owner and staff could not have been more rude. The dresses originally arrived in the wrong sizes, then we were unable to get alterations at the store as promised. Take your business elsewhere this store is not worth it. more

Much to the contrary, my first and only experience with this formal wear shop is BUYER BEWARE!!!! If you are lucky to find an off-the-rack dress in your size, you may walk away 100% satisfied. However, being a size 4 petite I had to special order a dress for my son?s destination wedding. Of course, I was required to prepay the order with no returns, refunds, or exchanges. Alternations could be completed within 48 hours for a $45 fee by their in-house seamstress. The dress would arrive within 8-10 weeks as the designer was most reliable with regards to delivery. \r After waiting 8 weeks and no word from the shop, I was getting concerned. Fellow bridesmaids be ware...the tempermant of the employees at this store is unbelievablly hostile and makes the entire bridesmaid dress process miserable. Two scenarios led me to this conclusion: Scenario 1 -Paying for dress Me: *hands over my Amex * FY Employee: Do you have another form of payment? Me: I prefer this one FY Employee: Well we prefer other forms of payment Me: But you can take Amex? I prefer the benefits of it. FY Emp: well we pay for those benefits and we prefer not to. Me: I like this form best, please take it FY Emp: We'd rather not for this small of an amount [the dress was $180] Me: to avoid a bigger scene than they had already made, I (customer) caved to accomodate the store End result: wish I had said take my Amex or I'll buy it elsewhere but the tone used by the employee took me off guard so hopefully this will give you a heads up of what to expect Scenario 2: Picking up dress Me: tried on dress and see that the back of the dress synches in a very wierd way FY Employee: it's supposed to do that Me: it didn't do that when I tried on the sample FY Emp: the sample is stretched out so it doesn't do that Me: so should I get a bigger size FY Emp: no-you have the size that you need Me: then this is a defect FY Emp: no, the dress is supposed to do that Me: I'll take it elsewhere for alterations End result: I took it to a place that I know and it turns out the dress does indeed have a defect (because the synching is there even without a person in the dress) and when trying to speak with the owner about it, she began by saying there is no defect because all of the dresses are made the same; and then continually talked over me...when I finally got to speak and told her that I was upset because she wouldn't admit that there is a possiblity of a defect she changed her story to say that it was possible but made no offer to compensate me for the alterations needed to fix it...for full disclosure, she did offer for me to drive an hour back to the store so they could look at again but after they shooed me out of the store 3 hours earliers i'm debating whether or not i'll be making the trip back up. more

It is known that making a bride happy is sometimes difficult at best. BUT, when you can please the bride and the MOB that is really saying something.\r We were both very pleased with our experience at Formerly Yours! They made it a memorable experience for us by listening to what we wanted, helping with decisions and giving advice. At times, even suggesting things we never thought about. \r Lindsey played a key role in making us feel comfortable and confident with what we chose. SHE REALLY KNOWS HER STUFF!!\r I would definetely recommend this store for enyone that needs that special touch for that special occasion! more

I loved my experience at formally yours! I brought in pictures of dresses that caught my attention, Lindsey pulled a large selection of dresses for me to choose from and I found the perfect dress on the first try! All of the employees gave me their honest opinions and made me confident in my final decision!\r I had quite a large crowd with me and the women at formally yours didn't even hesitate, they jumped right in to helping my entourage find their perfect dresses as well! I was so pleased with their knowledge and expertise, that I ordered all of my bridesmaid's dresses, my accessories and even bridesmaids gifts from Formally Yours! \r I would recommend Formally Yours to anyone! more

While looking for my bridal gown, I chose to go to Formally Yours because of the convenient location to my house in Lilburn. When I arrived, I was more than pleased when I came to browse through the dresses! Everyone working was really helpful (especially Lindsay!) and had great feedback to give me. They were helpful in picking out the dress that I wanted, while giving good advice!\r \r I needed several alterations and they were quick to appease my requests. The dress turned out beautifully and I still think it's gorgeous!\r \r I would definitely use them again for any formal wear that needs to be purchased. In fact, my mom got her MOB dress there, all my bridesmaids got their dresses there, and I got my dress there! One-stop shopping at it's finest... more

My sister-in law got married in June and we found dresses at Formally Yours. I am from out-of-town and really appreciated how kind the management was; how they talked to us and got to know us. I would definitely recommend this store. more

The sales girls at this shop are exactly that SALES people. my impression of this place before and after I bought the dress were completely different. while I was shopping, one of the dresses I liked looked funny in the top b/c i am small chested. The Formally Yours employee assured me that with a smaller size combined with what the seamstress could do, the dress would look normal and not too big. The seamstress could not do the things, the girl claimed. Its a horrible feeling to spend $1500 on a dress and to be disappointed in the way it came out. In addition, they ordered the wrong length. They refunded me the money that it cost for special order, but that money is not nearly worth that all my pictures are going to be out of balance b/c the dress is too short and I can't wear heals. I will look like a dwarf next to my fiance. I ordered a longer dress b/c I wanted a longer dress. also, when they brought me the dress it had creases in the lace right at the top, easy to see and beads were falling off. more

Formally Yours is a wonderful location for formal dress shopping. The salesperson Katie had excellent listening skills. She had many bright smiles and encouraging words. The selection was delightful. And I heard many words of happy customers. more

Formally Yours did not make getting my dress a very happy event.\r Basically they were not helpful and left it up to me to try on my wedding gown on my own. I did not have any assistance at all. I finally asked for help getting my dress zipped up and was very rudely zipped and then left on my own again. I asked about shoes and was not helped at all but was told to come back another time. After spending a large amount of money on a dress a bag to take it home in was not provided. That was an additional cost.\r I left feeling like we have my money so now we will not help you.\r I went to Affordable Bridal in Buford, GA and David's Bridal in Athens, Ga and found what I needed. The assistance was remarkably better. Both stores were friendly and very kind and helpful. I would not recommend Formally Yours to anyone. It left me with very disappointing memories and the feeling that I definitely wasn't worth being waited on once I paid for my dress. more

I had my first experience shopping for my bridal gown at this store. I could not have imagined a worse experience! The staff was exceptionally rude. I wear an 18-20 depending on the brand. I called ahead and the girl told me to come prepared with pictures to show what I was looking for, so I went to their website and printed the styles that I liked and brought them with me. I got there and the girl took my print outs glanced at them and said, "we don't have any of those". Seh goes, "but I'll pull you some" She then disappears and quite a while later, quite a while, reappears and says, "the last dressing room is yours" and then walks away. In the dressing room were some of the most hideous dresses I could have imagined... nothing like the pictures I handed her from their website... and they were all size 24... the biggest size they had and way too big for me... she did not even bother asking what size I was. I ordered my wedding dress and found bridesmaid dresses at this shop and had such wonderful help and such a great time. These ladies took such good care of my family, friends and me that I recommend it to everyone who is out looking for the perfect wedding dress. My sister-in-law found her dress and her bridesmaids dresses here and I couldn't be happier as I am one of the bridesmaids. I bought all of my prom dresses here through high school, so when I got engaged, it was the first place I went. They had a great selection of dresses and the owner along with her employees helped find the dress of my dreams. My mom bought all of my prom and homecoming gowns at Formally Yours over the years, so it was naturally the first place we looked for a wedding gown after I got engaged. We were initially sad to hear that the original owner had passed away since we were last there in late 1990s/early 2000s, as we had gotten to know her over the years of buying gowns there. But her daughter Cathy now owns and operates the store and she is WONDERFUL too - the store is even bigger and better, it's been freshened up, expanded, and new styles and lines have been added, for a very up to date, fashionable feel. Formally Yours was more like a dream come true for me. I've was running around metro Atlanta for the first few month of this year, looking for the right wedding dress and a shop that can handle how picky I am. I found some good reviews for Formally Yours online and recently stopped in to check out them out and their dresses. As soon as I walked in the door I was welcomed by Cathy the owner and a few other staff members. I told them what I was looking for and they found it right away. What I was most impressed with was how friendly Cathy, the staff and the overall atmosphere was, how patient they were with me and how good all of their their advice was. My experience here was HORRIBLE! The owner is extremely RUDE! This shop was the only problem I had in organizing my wedding. I would not recommend this shop to my worst enemy! This is a bait and switch bridal shop. Don't be fooled by the smiling faces and dress selection. It would be worth going elsewhere to avoid the hassle and heartache! I found my bridal gown here and was told that if all of my bridesmaids ordered from them, they would recieve 15% off. What they don't tell you is that when your bridesmaids call they are offered an option to pay 1/2 now and 1/2 on receipt which voids the 15% off deal. (I felt like I committed fraud on my bridesmaids, as I promised a discount that the store didnt honor) They also will take their measurements over the phone and tell them that they are a plus size and try to charge an additional $60 for the dress. None of my bridesmaids were plus sizes, all of them actually ordered regular sizes & had to get their dresses altered down to fit. I caught this scam early on and called to intervene reminding them that one bridesmaid fit the size 8 dress on the rack perfectly so now why where they telling her she needed a 16Plus size? This is a racket to make more money on the dress cost as well as the alteration cost. My bridal dress came in and when I came in for the fitting I found blue dye stains on the dress. The owner-Cathy seemed very mad that I even pointed this out as this was an inconvenience to her to have to order me another dress. I wonder why this dress wasn't inspected on receipt, but I guess that is my job not the bridal shops job. We ordered all of our dresses from bridesmaids, hostess dresses, bridal gown, veil, shoes etc from this shop and we were treated with nothing less than disrespect. The hostess dresses never even came in and the owner didn't even want to refund my money and to this day has not. We will be settling this matter in court. The alterations for my bridal gown left a great deal to be desired. I tripped down the aisle and no one could figure out how to tie the bustles that were supposed to be color coded, even though all of the ties were the same color.??? I was so disappointed with myself for patronizing this shop. I wish this on no bride. I ended up loosing it in the shop when the owner refused to refund my money for dresses that never came in. The hostess' and their mother who were supposed to be in my wedding backed out because they didn't have proper attire- thanks to Cathy at Formally yours. Kathy has no compassion for this business from her own mouth " I sell dresses you buy dresses" She is not warm nor does she care about making your wedding a stress free, beautiful experience, in my opinion she does everything in her power to make it difficult. I came in for my final fitting and the alterations were not right so the alteration lady asked if I could come back later once they were completed, once I left Cathy called me to tell me that she would have to put my gown in a bag after the alterations were finished and she would not be resteaming my dress. I dont understand how the alterations not being right ( as per the alteration lady) was my fault and why would nt she resteam my dress if it needed it, why would any shop owner want a product to leave their store less that satisfactory. I told her to forget it, I would get it steamed myself. This was the worst experience I have ever had. After spending so much money here, I am still in awe about the unprofessional treatment we recieved in exchange for patronage. No matter how much they tried, my wedding was beyond beautiful! I had a wonderful experience at Formally Yours. After visiting several other shops where I was basically ignored or treated as just another person, I was thrilled with the friendly atmosphere of the entire staff at Formally Yours. I worked mostly with the owner Cathy, but also with Lindsey and another tall girl who's name starts with a "T" - sorry can't remember! But they were all great! Cathy has a great eye for gowns and knows what looks best on all different body types, shapes and sizes, as well as for different styles of weddings. She showed me the gowns I requested and described, but also suggested several other styles I never would have otherwise tried on - and I fell in love with one of the gowns she selected for me!
