Dr. Hurst was recommended to me. I have been to both the Cedar Park office and the Georgetown office (CP once and GT twice). I have no plans to return to either office except to sign the records release form to get my records transferred to a different podiatrist. My first appointment was scheduled for 2:30 and I sat in the waiting room for an hour and a half before getting called back to a room. When Dr. Hurst indicated I would need additional appointments I inquired if there was a day/time that was less busy or if the GT location was less busy. He suggested I schedule for right after lunch so I could get in before he got backed up. My second appointment (in the GT office) I was seen in a reasonable amount of time. My third appointment was for 2:15 and when I arrived I was told I was not on the schedule. I had the appointment card I'd been given on my last visit with the date, time and location indicating I was in the right place. They added me to the schedule, but 45 minutes later I was still waiting to be seen. The mostly empty waiting room was now full. I inquired with the woman at the front desk if she could give me any estimation of how much longer the wait would be. I work and cannot spend hours in a waiting room during the middle of the day. She just shrugged at me and told me she didn't know. I told her I was going to have to reschedule, then. At that point she offered to go check on the wait. When she came back she still didn't have any estimate on how much longer, but she offered to put me in a room. Not seeing any difference between waiting another 45 minutes in the crowded waiting room and empty exam room, I told her if she couldn't give me any indication on how much longer I was going to have to reschedule. \r I spoke to a few people at the Cedar Park location on my first visit and some indicated they never had a problem and some indicated he always ran late. On my last visit I commented to the woman at the front desk that I'd already been waiting for 45 minutes and my first visit I'd waited 90 minutes, she told me that he's always busy and always runs late. \r As someone who works full time and has obligations outside of work, I cannot devote 45-90 minutes in a waiting room just to be seen by a doctor, and I would not recommend either the Cedar Park or Georgetown office for that reason. Dr. Hurst himself is nice and seemed to diagnose my ailment quickly, but the ridiculously long wait times have sent me to another podiatrist to complete my treatment. more

I went to see Doctor Hurst after being referred by a co-worker. Thought I had broken my toe and was just going to wait it out since I've always heard there's nothing you can do for it. Turns out I had a bone spur on it and it was affecting the whole right side of my body from walking differently due to the pain. So glad I went to see him. I had foot surgery this morning and looking forward to no more pain. I highly recommend Dr. Hurst. He is so personable along with the rest of his staff. Loves to fish, gives hugs, calls you after surgery with his cell# and encourages prayer. What a wonderful person and doctor!\r more

Dr Hurst is awesome. The plantar faciitis pain I've battled for over a year is almost completely gone just a week after my first visit. more

Highly Recommend Dr. Shine John 12/11/2011

Dr. Shine John is an excellent Podiatrist and I would highly recommend him. I had a total of 4 metatarsal fractures on my third and fourth bones. I originally went to a medical clinic, thinking I had a sprain or possible break. Upon Xray, the clinic realized I had multiple fractures. They referred me to Dr. John and he was able to work me into his schedule and see me immediately, due to my tight time line. I was flying out the next day on an important business trip. Dr. John and his wonderful nurse, Lorraine, made sure I had all the approrpiate x-rays, CT scans, lab work, the hospital appointment for future surgery, prescriptions, foot padding, boot, crutches, etc. all within hours. They accomodated my travel schedule and advised me how to fly with a broken foot-never judged-just gave me very sound medical advise and sincere caution. Upon my return, I was operated on within the week and became the proud new owner of 3 titanium plates and 9 pins. Dr. John took meticulous care during surgery and what was to be a 2 hour surgery, resulted in over 4 hours of surgery. He has incredible attention to detail while having a great personality and outstanding patient care. His entire staff is efficient and friendly. I have never had to wait for an appointment. While it appears his collegue, Dr. Hurst has received some negative reviews on Yelp for wait time, I have always had a very positive experience and all of my appointments have been on time with Dr. John. I am now in my 5th week of recovery and should be walking within 3 weeks and I am healing right on track. I might add I took another flight after the surgery, all the way to Australia, and once again, Dr. John and his staff were incredibly accomodating, making sure I had extra wrapping around the foot, plenty of anti-inflammatories, ice packs, and antibiotics on hand just in case. Very accomodating! Overall, I have had minimal pain and good recovery time. I implicity trust Dr. John. If you have to experience the pain of the broken foot...I couldn't recommend a better Doctor , then Dr. Shine John, to get you back on your feet in no time. \r more

I had a terrible experience 9/15/2011

I have more pain now than before I went to see Dr. Hurst. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I waited 2 hours for some appointments in a lobby full of people...fyi, I arrived on time! They seem to overbook every time slot. Dr. Hurst is very nice, but nice doesn't mean that he gives the best care. He did my surgery after months of shots, removed one neuroma and left another one in even though he could have taken that one too! I have pain far worse than I ever had before the surgery. Also, he never mentioned that I needed to have a bunion removed or that I had an additional neuroma that needed to come out as well. \r \r And the pain is worse than before...and I developed a stump. Which basically means I'm stuck with this pain forever. Fortunately, I found another foot specialist that has educated me on realistic expectations, costs, etc. \r \r And then there are the costs that were NEVER explained. Rather than having a frank discussion about costs, he never mentioned it. The lady at the counter just says that will be your co-pay. Then I received a bill for $300+ in the mail and never ending collection calls until I was able to pay it. We are not impoverished in any way, but $300 at that time was not in the budget. Nobody discussed that in office procedures are not always covered by copays. This needs to be discussed before you have a procedure. PERIOD!\r \r \r With the lack of discussion on cost and lack of discussion on the realities following the surgery AND the ridiculous wait time to get my five minutes with him...In my opinion, this is not the place that I would send anyone I liked to...maybe my worst enemy. Like I said, he seems like a nice man, but that doesn't make him a great surgeon or that he has good business practices. I don't like saying negative things about others, but I felt obligated to share my experience. more

Unsatisfied-disappointed 3/23/2011

Unsatisfied - Wish I'd seen all the reviews and comments about the poor scheduling before I got involved with Dr Hurst. First visit he predicted the need for surgery but we went with injections over several months that rendered no improvement. My last visit an MRI was ordered that showed surgery would NOT have solved the problem either. The wait was unprofessional every time, I should have billed for that time at my regualr hourly rate to recoup some of the thousands paid to this office. more

Great Doctor 10/15/2009

Dr Hurst is the best. He is extremely knowledgeable about prescription, medical conditions and how to accomodate your needs for medications. He is a great surgeon. I have had several surgeries on my feet and this is the first time I have had no problem healing. For the first time in many years I can walk in regular shoes and I have no pain. The office staff are terrific. He is very caring and spends the same amount of time with you as he does his other patients. He makes you just as important as the next patient. He is well worth waiting for. If I could rate him with a billion stars I would. I would and I do recommend him to everyone with foot problems. I even have my other family members seeing him for their foot care. Pros: This doctor is an excellent surgeon. Cons: You will have to wait a while. more

Awesome experience! 9/24/2008

I see Dr. Hurst for my podiatry care and can't say enough good things about him. His knowledge, his professionalism, his courtesy and bed side manner is exceptional. He did surgery on my foot and it was a great surgical experience. He was always available to answer questions, refill medications, and go the extra mile for me. I am a medical professional in the community and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to family/friends/patients..anyone I know. Dr. Hurst's staff is also very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. If I ever need any foot care....this is where I would end up! Pros: I have never had any complaints with his office. Ever. Cons: none. more
