Flashbacks

This store is jam-packed with wild clothing and accessories from the past. I'm talking about plaid patterns, feather boas, pink maude wigs and deliciously gaudy (and sometimes surprisingly classy) jewelery and 80s bracelets. Studded purses for gals, yellow cords for guys. At Flashbacks, you'll find everything you need if you're prepping for a wild shindig or costume party or even if you're uniquely rebellious and have a carefree fashion sensibility. Walking down 5th Avenue, the snazzy, bright window displays will catch your attention and draw you into the store. The staff is friendly and the store is intimate with a funky layout. Newly remodeled too-- which is sort of an oxymoron when it comes to a vintage clothing store. Since the product is very unique, the prices tend to be on the not-so uniquely high end. But if you find something rare and one-of-a-kind...shelling out the extra cash will be well-worth it. more

Wow, there was some cool stuff in this store, but I thought I was at Nordstrom's when I looked at the price tags. Similar to Buffalo Exchange (and directly across the street) these guys are very selective with what they place on the racks. I see them rifle through bags of clothing that people bring in to sell, and usually send them away with purchasing nothing. There is a vibe of "everyone is a shoplifter". These guys watch you like you are a criminal. Bring your credit card, because you may not have the cash in your purse/wallet. more

If you like clothes of the 70s and 80s this is the place for you. Prices are average to moderately high and they have a large selection of women's clothes and accessories and a smaller selection of men's attire. Most everything is synthetic fabric, but you can find some neat Guayabera shirts, or cheesy mariachi outfits here. They have a good selection of trendy belts, but unless you are into the clothes of the era this one isn't worth your time. more
