The customer is NEVER right.... 5/12/2012

I joined due to the convenient location of the facility, however the place is old and the equipment is run down. You have to pay for lockers, and the fitness classes are far and few between without a lot of variety. They overcharged my membership for 6months and were unwilling to adjust it. The customer service included being yelled at by two employees -this is absolutely unacceptable. What ever happened to the customer is right, and that's how you get repeat business! I would NOT recommend this facility!\r \r more

Great club, clean facility 1/14/2010

Wow! What an amazing place. The club is clean with tons of new equipment. I play basketball at noon time during the week and love the competition-Great group of guys. The pool is open swim all the time and the hot tub is relaxing after a tough workout. Just started Group Power classes and really enjoy them. I heard yoga is very good also. I would recommend the Fitness Center at Birkdale in a heartbeat. -Basketball Junkie more

Fantastic trainers and staff, equipment falling apart though 4/20/2009

Lots of ""regular"" folks have been transformed by the fantastic trainers and class instructors at TFC. Front desk staff and towel service along with general customer service is friendly, warm and convivial. Love the indoor pool. It's not ever too crowded to work out unless machines (elipticals/treadmills) are down; takes quite a while for them to be fixed or replaced. People are quitting because of this, but I can't imagine working out anywhere else because it feels like family. Pros: Huge, high energy, upbeat, positive, not a meat market Cons: jacuzzi always broken, mold on walls of locker rooms more

A professional encouraging atmosphere to work out and find yourself 9/28/2008

The Fitness Center at Birkdale has changed my life. I am a Mom of four children, and needless to say I am always tired and overwhelmed with my role. It became to the point where I lost myself and identity. The Fitness Center offers me a much needed break to take care of myself and rejuvenate. The staff is very professional and friendly. They offer on-site child care that is wonderful! My children love the outdoor play ground and all the toys inside, while I go work out and relieve my stress. There are many great classes and individualized programs so that there is something for everybody to plug into. My 12 year old son can even work out with us while the younger siblings are in child care. We have a family pass, that saves us money and gives us all something to do together as a family. I can not speak highly enough of the aquatic swimming program, and specificallly their swimming instructor, Matt Williams. He has done wonders with two of my children in swimming lessons. My daughter who is five is starting to learn the basics of diving now, and she did not even like to put her head in the water when we first started lessons. Matt is very patient and kind, and children trust him right away. He teaches all levels of swimming, and I trust him implicitly. For those who need guidance or encouragement to stay true to an exercise program, the personal trainers there will set up a a personalized plan to help you all along the way to achieve your goals. We had Steven start us out by showing us proper posture and how to use the various equipment there. He is so peppy and encouraging, and makes exercise fun. My husband may start a specialized program with him to meet his goals. I am excited because I am seeing that my goal of losing post-pregnancy weight is happening. I am enjoying a friendly atmosphere that is not intimidating and welcomes all people at whatever fitness level you are currently at. I know I will be able to keep this up! Recommend! Pros: Professional, friendly atmosphere Cons: Can be expensive, but worth the money anyway- family passes best more

POOR MANAGEMENT 5/5/2008

This would be a wonderful facility if it were not for the management. Management is a swinging door. Someone new every year almost. And with it comes change of policy....not honoring contract of previous management....not updating equipment....nor repairing equipment in a timely fashion....lots of equipment breakdowns....these are all management related problems. For the monthly price, members should expect more than just another gym....nothing special. There are better alternatives for a gym membership Pros: Basketball Cons: MANAGEMENT more

No towels, no shampoo, no bags 5/1/2008

Considering the monthy payment higher than the rest gyms of the area, at least they have to have a nice club but all the equipment is old and much in bad condition, in the lockers rooms there is not shampoo, u have to ask to a staff member to get a towel and the most offensive think that i ever see they dont have no more bags to put wet swimsuit or other clothes and they putted some used supermarket bags...that's unbelievable. more

A good choice if 3/28/2008

if your looking for a place to work out that will allow you to concentrate on yourself without worrying about what everyone else is thinking. Friendly staff and more of a family environment compared to many other gyms. Unlike ""Peak"", this gym is definitely not a ""meat market"". A bit expensive, and time for some equipment updates, but all and all a great place to accomplish your goals. Personal trainers here are to notch. Pro Body Builder Mike Dickson is HIGHLY recommended, but may have a waiting list at this point. Pros: Everything you need in freeeweights and machines Cons: Expensive, and due for some upgrades. more

Awesome place to workout!!! 2/24/2008

I have to admit how nervous I was when signing into a gym. It has been a while, I run mostly on a treadmill at home. The people working for this location were the sweetest & most accommodating. So if you are like me, want to feel comfortable & get in shape at the same time. Then this is the place!! more

old equipment 3/22/2006

I live in Birkdale a mile from club and have been very disappointed with the facility. If you are used to a modern city club then forget FitCare at Birkdale. There is limited equipment and most of it is over 10 years old. There is a pool and a basketball court but if you are into weights and cardio machines then look somewhere else. It reminds me of a small YMCA but charges like a real club! Pros: Pool, Basketball court Cons: Sparce equipment, Old equipment, Kids more
