Great Inexpensive Seafood 11/13/2011

You lika da fish? This place has a pretty simple menu, but they do it right. They have a lot of great fried fish plates, and a bevy of grilled fish. Had the halibut steak on the grill. Really big piece of fish with a nice garlic butter sauce which is quite yummie. They have a grilled jumbo shrimp, kind of an oxymoron, but this thing is like a small lobster tail and the smokey grill taste is really good. Had their lobster bisque which was nice, and had little pieces of lobster in it, which you would expect. All in all, I enjoyed the experience and would recommend this place again. Great food, lots of oil 8/21/2008

I am giving them a five star cause their food absolutely taste great. But they do put a lot of oil in it so if you health cautious, it may not be the best place for you. more

Best Sea Bass EVER 3/27/2007

The Fisherman's Outlet is my all-time favorite seafood restaurant. From the guys memorizing 15 different orders to the tastiest cajun sauce I've ever had, this place is an A+++++++. I go to LA for business meetings at least once a month, and always eat lunch at the Fisherman's Outlet. Hopefully they expand to San Francisco someday! Pros: Food, Value Cons: Wait time more

Holy Yum!! The best seafood in the U.S.!!!! 12/23/2006

Went the other day to Fisherman's Outlet, after I'd driven past it and was reminded of having come to a similar place (turns out it was the same place!) with my mom years earlier. Chose Fisherman's Outlet over the nearby Catch 21 because of the packed parking lot. Holy *&^@#$!!!! It was by far THE BEST, freshest frigging sea bass I've ever eaten (along with Mariscos Mazatlan in Cabo San Lucas). We stuffed ourselves silly with fried shrimp ($7 for tons of large, plump, delicious shrimp), soup (the red chowder), and sea bass with rice. Get it with cajun sauce on the side or in butter garlic sauce. Both are so incredible, you'll dream about it until the next time you go back. I am the kind of person who will drive and hour and a half to Ventura to get to Neptune's Net. Now I don't have to! WOO HOO! A perfect 10. Pros: Best Seafood I have EVER had in LA hands down. Cons: Only open for lunch! more

Get there early and enjoy 10/22/2006

If you can get there before 11:30AM, youve got it made. My favorites is the charbroiled jumbo (and I mean JUMBO) scallop and shrimp combination. A small ""creamy white"" to go along with it, and I am totally useless at work after lunch. Pros: I like it... that's good enough. Cons: It's a bit over-rated in that it attracts as many people as it does. more

love all the fishes there 8/22/2006

This is probabily the best bargain for sea food in Los Angeles, all the charboiled fish are great, love the cajun sauce with rice. The lobester bisque is great too, but might be a bit too rich, so I love mixing it into the rice. Although the line is always long, try getting there before the 1130. more

Great food at Great Price 6/16/2006

Went to Fishermans for lunch on a weekday about 12:00 and the every table was already full with a line out the door. I got the fried shrimp and scallops with rice. It was delicious and a steal at only $9!!! more

Best Fish in town. 4/9/2006

Never could I imagine that this market/restaurant could be so popular given its location. Yet it is, infact so popular that you have to stand in line a good hour or so just to get your meal. This should be a restaurants true barometer. Thick juicy cuts of seasonal fish await you. Not some thin slice of fillet either! You definitely will not get those puny fillets that you often get at overpriced restaurants. The lobster bisque excellent, then again, this is a true fish lovers paradise. Parking can be difficult, but be patient. Definitely worth the wait and drive. Pros: Salmon Cuts, Lobster Bisque, Prices Cons: Area, Parking, Long Wait more

Phenomenal - A Hidden Treat in a Public Hellhole 11/21/2005

How could a tiny seafood shack survive in uber-competitive LA where a mediocre location can signal its death knell? By serving absolutely the best seafood that quite literally puts other, vastly more expensive restaurants to shame. Everything is cooked to perfection, with a great batter or blackened seasoning, piled high over fries or accompanying slaw. Grilled fish is flavorful and bold. The soups are rich and hearty with chunks of seafood. The staff does their best to mitigate the long line, walking along side to pre-order and start the cooking, so by the time you get to the front the food is ready to pick up and pay for. That kind of consideration scores big points for me. This is a MUST EAT for an LA Seafood coneisseur, along with Water Grill and Santa Monica Seafood. Pros: Food, Food, Food Cons: Location, Location, Location more

great value 10/12/2004

it's not your typical ""seafood restaurant"" but if you're looking for good food and value, this is the best you can find. i highly recommend it to anyone that's looking for a good meal and don't mind the casual setting. everything about this place is very very laid back and the food is absolutely delicious. Pros: inexpensive, generous portion, good selection Cons: , busy location, lunch only more

LA LANDMARK 4/29/2004

best seafood ever.!!!!!!!!!!! truly a la landmark. cant get any fresher Pros: food, service, value more

best in los angeles 7/29/2003

this place is a gold mind! Never a wait under 30 minutes, always jam packed, and man you'll love every moment of it! once you get in the door you scream out your order and by the time you hit the counter, it's good to go. Great service, freash sea food, massive servings, and parking. Just be wise and arive early, because they close the doors at 3pm and are not open on Sundays. Pros: fresh food, well priced, parking Cons: in the hood, closes early, always a line more

""THE BEST"" 9/6/2002

There is no other way to describe this place. The freshes, best values, generous portions you'll ever find. McCormick, Water Grill, and all the rest can not compare to this value. You're paying for the great seafood not the decor such as most seafood restuarants. You don't know what FRESH seafood taste like until you've eaten here. Pros: variety, fresh, inexpensive more
