Fish Bones - Saint Clair Shores....Poor service.....Cold Food 2/28/2009

Do not schedule important event in this place, as POOR SERVICE, COLD FOOD, will certainly spoil you experience. Yesterday we had important event scheduled there and I regret picking this place. All our food came in COLD, not warm actually COLD. The waitress provided some of the worst service I had ever had, complete disregard to customers as she later stated ""The tip is mandatory if the party is over five"". I wonder maybe that's why we have had such bad service, because she knew her tip was mandatory. In any case very very very disappointing experience especially when its birthday of someone you love and you try to make it the best day for them. Pros: GOOD FOOD if your server didn't forget about you and brought it warm Cons: POOR SERVICE more

Consistent Experience 6/12/2008

I recently met a friend at Fishbones- it is always a great place to catch up over drinks. I have been there many times, for dining and for cocktails The food good- it has been is consistent and so has the service. The outdoor patio is awsome- a great place enjoy the summer breeze in the evening or for bloody marys on a sunday afternoon. more

I came here for a fathers day breakfast and the food was great. They such a big selection and I come here for special occasions all the time. It's at a good location and cost is very inexpensive. I would recommend them to others more

No Reservations 4/13/2008

My girlfriend and I decided to go to FB instead of going downtown. Knowing that it would be busy(like it always is), but we figured if we got there before the bar flys started rolling in we might of had a chance at a table. Sounded like a great idea right? Well yes, and no! As we walked in we saw our table(open, and in the bar area to watch the games)! Quickly we strolled over to take our prize. ""Sorry guys that table is reserved"" stated the manager. Really I asked, and then he told me the gentleman was outside on the phone(nobody was outside). So this is how it got confusing cause how can you make a reservation at a restaurant that does not take reservations! Well we got our answer about an hour later, as we stood by the bar. It was held for one of the staffs friends. Which I think is BS, but next time we will be headed downtown. Pros: Patio, Sushi Cons: Wait staff more

GOOD TIMES< GREAT FOOD 4/11/2008

Great resturant, specialize in what else but fish! But the meats were very good. Fair portions, and good service to boot. \r Good place to take someone to impress more

Disappointing in every way 8/24/2007

My boyfriend and I went to Fishbones on 8/18/07. We were looking forward to it as he had a craving for crawfish and I was jonesing for some bread pudding. We ordered the crawfish boil appetizer then jambalaya and southern fried catfish for dinner. No sooner had a server come out with the crawfish (mumbling something about mussels??) then the waitress appeared with our entrees. She didn't seem to notice we weren't anywhere near ready for the entrees and continued to come back to the table repeadetly asking how things were when obviously we hadn't touched them. The dinner salads were mostly iceberg lettuce (I would expect better considering the prices). My boyfriend complained that his jambalaya was mostly rice and sauce, with very little sausage and seafood. My catfish was unremarkable at best, though at least it was still warm by the time I got to it. When we had clearly finished our dinners, our waitress was nowhere to be seen. She finally materialized when our drinks were gone asking if we wanted another round. At that point, even bread pudding wasn't going to salvage the experience so we asked for our bill and went across the street for soft serve instead. Considering the prices, this place seems to skimp on everything. Pros: one of the few places with creole cuisine in metro Detroit Cons: mediocre food, poor service, high prices for the quality more

Most Extensive Menu in Detroit 12/10/2006

Fishbones has probably the largest selection of items on its menu of any restaurant in Detroit. If you can't find something you like, you are not reading the menu. Sushi, creole, steaks and all sorts of seafood are just some of the categories Fishbones specializes in. My favorite for lunch is the Turkey Burger; the kitchen makes their own turkey burgers not bought frozen from the wholsaler like 99% of the restaurants. It is the best! I have turned on many a wary lunch eater to the Turkey Burger! The roumelade sauce it comes with added to the onion sprouts makes the burger delicious and probably healthy too! Pros: Great ambience with the indoor waterfall more

Great Place to Hang Out 6/3/2004

I love going to Fishbones - the food is good and the surrounding is good. Sometimes they have live bands on the weekend which adds to the experience. I high recommend trying the gumbo and the crabcakes. Pros: Service, Food Selection more

northern cajun 10/28/2002

I lived in Louisianna for a while, so I'm a harsh judge when it comes to etouffe. The crawfish etouffe I got here was pretty bad. more
