I was happy with her. I saw her because 11/15/2010

My other favorite Dr had recommended I see her. Yes, I did have to wait, but I didn't mind. Can you find a Manhattan Doctor who doesn't? I wait 15 minutes for most of my docs. I am happy I saw her. She's a good Dr and I trusted her opinion. My other doctor "Dr Sneeze" sent me to see her. more

I finally found a great rheumatologist and even convinced her to be my general doctor! more

Always late 6/9/2010

There is not enough time in the world to wait for this doctor. She may be good but she is late and keeps you waiting for long periods of time. Her office staff leaves a lot to be desired too. If you have nothing else to do but sit in her lobby, then she's the doctor for you. If, however, you have a job, you may wish to find a doctor who has some respect for you. more

somewhat disappointed 12/3/2009

I saw her twice. The initial consultation was ok, although I felt rushed. The 2nd time I could have called her office for the test result but I chose to see her in person to see what she would tell me. She saw me 1 hour past my scheduled time and only said to me, 'your test results are normal, you can go now, see me in 6 months'. I was trying to tell her what I had done to relieve my symptoms but she had no time to hear. I was disappointed. Her office staff told me her appointments usually run about 1 hour late. I said if I had known, I should have just called for the results and not come back for a second time. In my opinion, too many appointments have been booked. Patients do not get enough time to speak to the doctor. more

Amazing Doctor 7/16/2009

Dr.s Rackoff and Fisher are medical diamonds of Beth Israel at Union Square. The entire hosptial needs better trained admin staff, not irritated and arguing folks with patients in earshot. Doctors, like most things in life, have to 'fit.' Patients also need to partner, not be passive-Dr. Rackoff IS brilliant, doesnt BS, has no time to waste-its her compassion to get the most from her treatment time that drives her quickly from patient to patient, not rudeness. Auto-immune diseases and patients are multiplying faster than they can keep up, read the news!!!. BTW doctors claiming to be Rhuematologists capable of treating FM, CFS as well as varities of RA, are still looking at women with auto immune diseases as emotionally stressed etc. Dr. Rackoff may be quick, but she looks at the entire patient profile-I'd been misdiagnosed for decades, she saved my life, literally. more

fabulous doctor 5/12/2009

Dr. Rackoff is a fabulous doctor. She has helped myself and my husband. We both use her and she's a wonderful diagnostician and rheumatologist. I would highly recommend her to someone looking for a good doctor in NYC, JENNY FEIN more

perceptive doctor 5/1/2009

I saw Dr Rackoff about my rheumatoid arthritis and pregnancy issues. She knew a lot about both situations and made medication recommendations with which I felt comfortable. I would highly recommend her more

Initially Unsatisfactory; Improved Over Time 4/6/2009

Initially, when I saw Dr. Rackoff several years ago, I thought she was rushed, indeferent and somewhat condicending. When prompted with questions, she seemed annoyed and at one time told me to "look it up". After several months of unresponsive treatment, I went to a few other doctors, one of whom recommened Embrel. I suggested this to her, and we began treatment. This was the only thing that worked. I continuted to see her over the last few years, and last week, she seemed much warmer, concerned and interested. She wanted me to get a test which my GP for an seemingly unrelated ailement that stymied my GP, and followed up with a Sunday call to me. She also spoke to me on the phone and suggested another specialist--again, something that did not occur to my GP. I guess what I'm saying is that I found her initially rude but that she's improved over the last few years, for what ever reason, and I think really knows her stuff. At this point, I'd recommend her. Thanks, S more

Honestly I didn't feel the warmth others have reported. I found her robotic and hurried, like so many other physicians these days. She simply told me I have a serious disease, gave me medication and a list of things to get done. I went to her because I'm working outside the U.S. and I thought I would need someone I could communicate with via email. She told me I should have a blood test done after one month and I should email the results to her. I did, and 3 weeks later I have yet to hear from her. I called the office after 10 days and left a message, never heard back. I must say the medication has almost eliminated my symptoms, for which I'm grateful. In my case, I have not felt that personalized care that others are talking about. more

Excellent rheumatologist 10/23/2008

An excellent rheumatologist, with the ability to apply sound intuition and experience to the treatment of autoimmune disorders, like lupus and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. The reception staff could use improvement, but Dr. Rackoff herself is wonderful in person. Her brisk, matter-of-fact manner reflects her professionalism and quick intellect, not rudeness or lack of sensitivity. She is very kind and patient with questions, but also very efficient. more

She's a rude and condescending person 7/8/2008

This Doctor is possibly the rudest person I ever went to. I went home and cried after she spoke to me and I'm not a soft person. Being diagnosed with arthritis is a serious thing and she made me feel like a fool for asking her questions. It seemed like she was annoyed and I was wasting her precious time. Needless to say I went to another Doctor and she's wonderful. Don't go to Dr.Rackoff. Doctors need to know that a huge part of their job is realizing they are dealing with people. My dog's vet is nicer than her. more

Dr. Rackoff is great 3/28/2006

Dr Rackoff is a Rheumatologist at Beth Israel Medical Center in Union Square, and she is friendly and helpful, and quite knowledgable in her field. The only issue is that the office she is located in is terrible for delays and often you must wait 30 + minutes for an appointment. This seems to be a problem for the entire BIMC though, so I think it is their staffing's fault and nothing to do with Dr. Rackoff. more
