Great dog school where I have taken 20 dogs through puppy kindergarten and novice. Bruce works with you to get your best dog outcomes. He and his wife donate all training for hund...

Worst

My dog came back after 4 weeks and she came back like I sent her there. Owner will not call me back. I guess he got his 2100 dollars and don't care.

I have nothing but pleasant experiences with Bruce McNabb and First Friend. I have been going there for tarining and day care. I highly recommend First Friend. more

Bruce McNabb killed my dog 6/21/2014

Bruce McNabb physically beat my dog to death (outside my presence.) The dog had been sent to him for retrieve training several years ago. I had been talked into letting him train his retrieves rather than myself so that the dog didn't create conflict in he and I's relationship. He strung the dog out between two points where the dog couldn't defend himself and kicked him repeatedly in the stomach by his own admission. Seeing the dog in pain and anguish, he then put him in a kennel and left him there to die. After the dog died I was contacted by a then mutual friend and informed my dog was dead. We went to pick him up and my mutual friend kept us separated and I gathered my dog, still not knowing all the facts. I delivered the dog for a necropsy, where I learned the dog died from internal injuries due to his liver being torn almost in half from the blows Bruce later admitted to delivering to the dog. I was asked my mutual friends not to pursue criminal charges on him and to consider his more

Bruce McNabb physically beat my dog to death (outside my presence.) The dog had been sent to him for retrieve training several years ago. I was asked my mutual friends not to pursue criminal charges on him and to consider his family. I regret not seeing him prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He fully admitted everything to me and begged not to take action. It drove me to never rely on anyone else for training assistance, and to never trust anyone with the care of my animals again. This was approximately ten years ago. I made a huge mistake letting this man take my dog for this training. My dog was a beautiful black sable German Shepherd I had raised from a puppy. He left me perfectly healthy. I picked him up in a filthy kennel with digested blood everywhere, where he had been left to die medically unassisted, by Bruce McNabb. \r \r Fast forward 2014, his wife contacted me on Facebook and tried to argue with me on a comment I made completely unrelated to them in any way. I brought up her husband murdering my dog and blocked her. Today's date, 06/21/2014 at 2:29pm, Bruce McNabb contacted me by telephone by a blocked number and threatened me I had ""better not talk about him or he'd come do the same to me he did to my dog."" He then stated ""Do you wanna know how he died? Wallowing in his own piss and shit crying out. And you know what? I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed listening to him die."" \r \r I believe Bruce has also been since convicted of animal cruelty for another act at First Friend K9 but I can't say with 100% certainty, I just heard about it. \r \r I want anyone that considers taking a dog to Bruce McNabb at First Friend K9 to know exactly the kind of person that is running that and claiming to be a dog trainer. The kind of person capable of such an act and then capable years and years later to brag with delight what he did is beyond words. It's disgusting. This man made other threats to me also. I consider him highly disturbed and dangerous. These are not the actions of a rational person. more

Owner lacks integrity - Don't support this business 4/10/2012

I had an awful experience with First Friend. After enrolling my dog in training, I quickly realized how INHUMANE the training methods are. When I decided to withdraw my dog, I had a hard time getting in touch with anyone. After several phone calls the owner, Bruce, finally answered the phone himself and I was able to confront him. He said he would reimburse me. That's great, right? I'm all for a fair reimbursement. Except, it wasn't fair! He kept changing his mind about how much to reimburse me. When I asked for an itemized list, he could not provide me with one. I was lied to for 3 weeks about my check coming to me. I still have not received my money back. I filed a complaint with the BBB - the 3rd complaint in about a year against First Friend. Do you really want to support a business that lies? Pros: null Cons: null more

Very impressed 3/3/2012

My puppy has gone from unruley to obedient in an 8 week period of time. There are no magic words but "aught" is pretty close to it once you do the homework and follow the advice of Bruce and his team. I have been very impressed with the professionalism, the dedication and attitude of Bruce and his entire staff. Reasonable cost and very effective when you do your homework! Awesome! 2/8/2012

First Friend K-9 Training Facility is simply amazing. Bruce and his team are like a family to all who enter the facility, while providing a top notch training experience. They have been training dogs for years and love what they do. Pros: null Cons: null more

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS 7/26/2011

Bruce McNabb, who owns this business was charged with animal neglect of a boarder and abused at least one dog in class. Why on earth are people still supporting these sick people? There are plenty of trainers and training facilities in the area that actually care about and care for your dog. more

First Friend K-9 Rocks! 4/13/2011

First Friend K-9 Training has been such a great experience. Bruce and his staff are wonderful and have made my dog and I part of their family. They have such a love and desire to help all families with their furry friends. I have been going to First Friends since Sept 2010 and completed their Puppy and Novice training class. My dog is so well behaved and is wonderful with kids and friends. I have continued on with the Advanced course and Agility. It is such a great time for me and my dog. It reinforces to her and me each week new and fun ways to be with my dog. \r I have seen Bruce and his staff work miracles with some very difficult dogs where their owners weren't sure what to do. Week after week they would come back and by the end of class these dogs were wonderfully, well behaved dogs. \r Thank you Bruce and everyone at First Friends for taking such good care of us! You are a big part of my family. more

My Dog Almost Died While Enrolled In First Friends 1/13/2010

My Great Dane Jacob had behavioral issues so I enrolled him in First Friends? ?In Kennel Training?. He spent 4 weeks there and when we came to pick him up he had lost 30 pounds, he had an intestinal infection, all of his skeletal bones were showing, he had tonsillitis, an abscessed foot, his toenail had gotten so long on his other foot that it was digging into his toe and it bled every time he walked, he was so dehydrated he needed subcutaneous fluids, he had pressure sores covering most of his body, and he had a 3 inch scar on his leg. I have filed a complaint with the local authorities who have already begun investigating. I have read complaints from other people on other websites, and it appears that employees of First Friends get online and accuse these people of being terrible dog owners that don?t love their dog. Please keep in mind that anyone who is willing to spend $1000 (which I did) on their dog is not a terrible dog owner. We are so lucky we picked him up when we did. Jake weighed 120 pounds when we brought him in to First Friends and he weighed 90 when we picked him up 29 days later. more
